2 Getting Started

We recommend that you:
Unpack the equipment carefully and save the original box and packaging
materials for possible future shipment
Review the contents of this user manual

2.1 Achieving the Best Performance

To achieve the best performance:
Use only good quality connection cables (we recommend Kramer high-
performance, high-resolution cables) to avoid interference, deterioration in signal quality due to poor matching, and elevated noise levels (often associated with low quality cables)
Do not secure the cables in tight bundles or roll the slack into tight coils Avoid interference from neighboring electrical appliances that may adversely
influence signal quality
Position your Kramer TR-91 / TR-92 away from moisture, excessive sunlight
and dust

2.2 Recycling Kramer Products

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive 2002/96/EC aims to reduce the amount of WEEE sent for disposal to landfill or incineration by requiring it to be collected and recycled. To comply with the WEEE Directive, Kramer Electronics has made arrangements with the European Advanced Recycling Network (EARN) and will cover any costs of treatment, recycling and recovery of waste Kramer Electronics branded equipment on arrival at the EARN facility. For details of Kramer’s recycling arrangements in your particular country go to our recycling pages at http://www.kramerelectronics.com/support/recycling/.

TR-91 / TR-92 - Overview

3 Overview

The TR-91 100W Audio Transformer is a 100W transformer for speaker signals. The unit takes one 4Ω/8Ω channel from the speaker output of a power amplifier, transforms it to 70V/100V and distributes it to an array of loudspeakers.
The TR-92 2x100W Audio Transformer is a 2x100W transformer for speaker signals. The unit takes two 4Ω/8Ω channels from a speaker output of a power amplifier, transforms them to 70V/100V and distributes them to an array of loudspeakers.

Note that you have to select the same power settings (70V or 100V), as required, for both channels.
i
Always switch off the power to each device before connecting it to your TR-91 / TR-92. After connecting your TR-91 / TR-92, connect its power and then switch on the power to each device.

5 Installing the TR-91 and TR-92

This section explains how to install the Open-back ceiling speakers, that is:
Connecting the TR-92 (see Section 5.1) Connecting the TR-91 (see Section 5.2)

5.1 Connecting the TR-92

To connect the TR-92, as illustrated in the example in Figure 3, do the following:
1. Connect an audio amplifier (for example, the Kramer 907xl Power/Amplifier Mixer) to the TR-92 input channels by connecting the:
Left + and - OUTPUT terminal block connectors on the 907xl to the
CHANNEL 1 INPUT + (8Ω) and – (COM) terminal block connectors on the TR-92
Right + and - OUTPUT terminal block connectors on the 907xl to the
CHANNEL 2 INPUT + (8Ω) and – (COM) terminal block connectors on the TR-92
Alternatively, you can reverse the order and connect the left output on the 907xl to CHANNEL 2 and the right output on the 907xl to CHANNEL 1.
2. Connect the OUTPUTs to a 70V/100V speaker (for example, the Kramer
Galil 8-C Ceiling Speakers) by connecting CHANNEL 1 to the Left speaker and CHANNEL 2 to the Right speaker. For each channel connect the COM terminal block connector to the - speaker connector and the 70V or 100V OUTPUT terminal block connector to the + speaker connector.

3. Connect the audio amplifier (the Kramer 907xl Power Amplifier/Mixer in this
example):
To up to two audio sources (not shown in Figure 3) 24V DC power adapter to the power socket and connect the adapter to
the mains electricity
For further details, you can download the 907xl and Galil 8-C user manuals from our Web site

5.2 Connecting the TR-91

TR-91 has one channel so that you connect the TR-91 inputs and outputs in the
same way as the TR-92 is connected (see Section 5.1).
To connect the TR-91, as illustrated in the example in Figure 4, do the following:
1. Connect an audio amplifier (for example, the Kramer 907xl Power/Amplifier Mixer) to the TR-91 INPUT + (8Ω) and – (COM) terminal block connectors. Connect either the Left or Right + and - OUTPUT terminal block connectors on the 907xl to the INPUT + and – terminal block connectors on TR-91.
2. Connect the OUTPUT to a 70V/100V speaker (for example, the Kramer Galil 8-C Ceiling Speaker) by connecting the:
COM terminal block connector to the ground (-) speaker connector 70V or 100V OUTPUT terminal block connector to the + speaker
connector
3. Connect the audio amplifier (the Kramer 907xl Power Amplifier/Mixer in this example):
To up to two audio sources (not shown in Figure 4) 24V DC power adapter to the power socket and connect the adapter to
the mains electricity
For further details, you can download the 907xl and Galil 8-C user manuals from our Web site
