2.1 Achieving the Best Performance
To achieve the best performance:
Use only good quality connection cables (we recommend Kramer high-
performance, high-resolution cables) to avoid interference, deterioration in
signal quality due to poor matching, and elevated noise levels (often
associated with low quality cables)
Do not secure the cables in tight bundles or roll the slack into tight coils
Avoid interference from neighboring electrical appliances that may adversely
influence signal quality
Position your Kramer RS-232 Extender away from moisture, excessive
sunlight and dust
This equipment is to be used only inside a building. It may only be connected to other equipment that is installed inside a building.

4 Connecting the RS-232 Extender
Always switch off the power to each device before connecting it to your RS-232 Extender. After connecting your RS-232 Extender, connect its power and then switch on the power to each device.
Note! In the RS-232 Extender system, the CAT 5 cables carry electrical power. Do NOT connect them to any other device. To avoid this, we recommend that you attach the stickers provided to the ends of the CAT 5 cable.
Figure 1 illustrates the RS-232 Extender connections.
Connect the local and remote RS-232 extender units to each other using a
CAT 5 cable.
Up to 330m (1000ft), connect a power adapter to either the local or remote
RS-232 extender unit.
For distances of more than 330m (1000ft) connect a power adapter to both
the local and remote RS- 232 extender units. Additional power adapters can
be ordered from Kramer.
Once connected, the RS-232 Extender system is ready to transmit RS-232
