Congratulations on purchasing your Kramer PSE-4 10G Quad POE Injector, which
is ideal for the following typical applications:
Provide power to in-wall mounted devices
Provide power to remote devices with no access to power

2 Getting Started
We recommend that you:
Unpack the equipment carefully and save the original box and packaging
materials for possible future shipment
Review the contents of this user manual
Go to http://www.kramerav.com/downloads/PSE-4 to check for up-to-date
user manuals, application programs, and to check if firmware upgrades
are available (where appropriate).
2.1 Achieving the Best Performance
To achieve the best performance:
Use only good quality connection cables (we recommend Kramer high-
performance, high-resolution cable) to avoid interference, deterioration in
signal quality due to poor matching, and elevated noise levels (often
associated with low quality cables)
Do not secure the cables in tight bundles or roll the slack into tight coils
Avoid interference from neighboring electrical appliances that may adversely
influence signal quality
Position your Kramer PSE-4 away from moisture, excessive sunlight and
dust
This equipment is to be used only inside a building. It may only be
connected to other equipment that is installed inside a building.
No operator serviceable parts inside the unit
Use only the Kramer Electronics power supply that is
provided with the unit
Disconnect the power and unplug the unit from the wall
before installing

2.3 Recycling Kramer Products
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive 2002/96/EC
aims to reduce the amount of WEEE sent for disposal to landfill or incineration by
requiring it to be collected and recycled. To comply with the WEEE Directive,
Kramer Electronics has made arrangements with the European Advanced
Recycling Network (EARN) and will cover any costs of treatment, recycling and
recovery of waste Kramer Electronics branded equipment on arrival at the EARN
facility. For details of Kramer’s recycling arrangements in your particular country
go to our recycling pages at http://www.kramerelectronics.com/support/recycling/.

3 Overview
The PSE-4 is a four-way PoE (Power-over-Ethernet) injector which supports 4K
UHD video.
The PSE-4 provides power remotely over Ethernet to up to four devices capable of
acting as PoE acceptors, (for example, the WP-5VH2, where it might be difficult to
connect an external power supply). This allows a single HDBT LAN cable to
provide both data and electrical power to compatible devices.
In particular, the PSE-4 features:
A total range of up to 100m (328ft) @ 4K on shielded BC-HDKat6a cable (or
equivalent)
4K support
48V DC power
A Kramer MegaTOOLS ® enclosure

PSE-4 - Connecting the PSE-4
Always turn off the power to each device before connecting it to your
PSE-4. After connecting your PSE-4, connect its power and then turn
on the power to each device.
Figure 3: Connecting the PSE-4 10G Quad POE Injector
To connect the PSE-4 as illustrated in the example in Figure 3:
1. Connect the first HDBT transmitter, (for example, the WP-5VH2) to the
LAN + POE 1 RJ-45 connector on the rear panel of the PSE-4.
2. Connect the LAN 1 RJ-45 connector on the rear panel of the PSE-4 to the
HDBT receiver, (for example, the VS-1616D).
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for an additional three devices.

PSE-4 - Connecting the PSE-4
4. Connect the supplied power adapter to the PSE-4 and plug the power
adapter into the mains supply.
The PSE-4 provides power to the WP-5VH2 HDBT transmitters.
Note: The PSE-4 can provide power via the LAN+POE ports to either an HDBT
transmitter or receiver. Figure 3 illustrates this by showing the PSE-4 providing
power to transmitters. The PSE-4 can also provide power to receivers as shown in
Figure 4.

Connect/solder the cable shield to the RJ-45 connector shield at both ends of the
cable.
Do not use a crossed TP cable with this product.
Using a TP cable that is incorrectly wired may cause permanent
damage to the device
Do not use unshielded TP cables with this product
