The MicroTic ket software is an application that allows the end user to load in a Custom Job
Ticket Form configured in MicroTicket Configuration by the print shop. That form is used to
create a specific job ticket that is submitted to the print shop with the job and it’s elements.

Installa tion of MicroTicket Software Application
Before loading the custom job ticket form, MicroTicket software must first be loaded in the
system. The customer will receive a CD and a floppy disk from the print shop. The CD contains the MicroTicket software installation files for both Mac and PC and the floppy disk contains the configuration files for the Custom Job Ticket form for that print shop. Both are
necessary in order for the customer to create a job ticket.
Installing the MicroTicket Software
For the PC
1. Insert the MicroTicket Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive. Open the Windows
folder.
2. Double-click on setup.exe to initiate the In s talla t io n .
3. a “preparing to install” message will be displayed.
4. The next screen prompts for selection of language for the installation. Click OK if the
language selected by the installation program is correct. If not, select the language of
choice from the drop down list and click OK.
5. Click Next on the installer Introduction dialog.
6. Accept the License Agreement and click Next.
7. Choose the location to install the files if you do not wish to accept the suggested location. Click Next.
8. Click Done when the installation is complete.
9. A shortcut will be placed in the Start Menu under Programs | MicroTicket. Click the
shortcut to launch MicroTicket.
For the Mac
1. Insert the MicroTicket Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Open the MicroTicket CD by double-clicking the icon on the desktop. Open the Macin-tosh folder.
3. MicroTicket requires the Mac OS Runtime for Java (MRJ) to be installed. If MRJ 2.1 is
already installed, skip to Step 9. If n ot, go to Step 4.
4. Double-click MRJ 2.1.4.smi. Thi s wil l cr eate a folder on the desktop named MRJ Install.
5. Go to the desktop and open the MRJ Install folder.
6. Double-click on Installer.
7. Agree to the licensing agreement.
8. Click Install. When the installation finishes, the computer will have to be restarted.
9. After the restart complete s, ope n the Mi croTicket CD by double-clicking the icon on the
desktop. Open the Macintosh folder.
10.Double-click Setup to install MicroTicket.
11. When finished, there will be an icon on the desktop named MicroTicket. Double-click
to run MicroTicket

Getting St arted with MicroTicket
Overview of the MicroTicket Main Screen
MicroTicket will open with a blank screen and the message “Please select File/Open Configuration to begin using MicroTicket”.
MicroTicket Menu Bar
The MicroTic ket menu bar has two menus – File and Help. The table following lists the commands found in each menu.
MenuCommands
File• Open Configuration... – open a file supplied from a print shop
• Make Tick et.. . – compiles the information entered on the Micro Ticket
tab pages into a job ticket
• Send To – sends the completed job ticket to a specified FTP site
• Exit – quit the MicroTicket applic ation
HelpAbout MicroTicket... – displays version information for the Micro-
Ticket application
Tabs
On the left side of the main screen are four tabs: Customer I nfo , Job Info, Special Notes
and Files.
Field/ControlDescription
Customer InfoAll necessary information about the customer including name,
address, phone, etc.
Job Infodisplays a list of available printing options
Special NotesAllows the user to input any special instructions.
FilesDi splays the so ftware applic ations the print shop sup port s and has a
window into which all job files and job elements, such as fonts and
images, can be attached to the job ticket.

Step by Step Instructions to Complete a Job Ticket
1. Launch MicroTicket by going to the Start Menu and clicking the MicroTicket shortcut
under Programs | MicroTicket.
Field names in red indicate that the information is required. The ticket cannot be completed without this information.
2. Select File from the menu bar. Choose Open Configuration File.
3. Select the file provided by the print shop.
4. Type in all pertinent company information.
Clicking the buttons to the right of Needed and Submitted will display a date selection
dialog.

Select the appropriate date (Month, Day and Year) for each field.
5. Select the Job tab.
Each list will display only those options available from the print shop providing the configuration file.
6. Select Notes from the category listing. Enter any special instructions to the print shop
about the job.

7. Select the Files tab.
8. The next step is to add t he job file and all the j ob element s, suc h as gr aphi cs and f ont s,
to the job ticket. Click on the Add File button.

9. To delete a file from the listing, select the file and click on Remove File.
10.Click Make Ticket in the File menu.The Select Job Ticket filename dialog will display.
This function will combine the job fil e, all element s of the j ob and the job ti cket in to one
file that will be sent to the print shop.
11. Name the job ticket file and click Save.
The new job ticket file will have a .jti extension. This file is then sent to the print shop to be
printed, finished, etc.
To quit out of MicroTicket, click Exit.

Send To
To make the task of sending file to remote l ocations easi er, use the Send To command in the
File menu. This command will send the selected file to a specified FTP site. Check with the
network administrator to obtain the information necessary to use this function. If incorrect
information is entered or the FTP site does not respond, the file will be placed in the MicroTicket f older on the local hard drive.
Configuring Send To
Until Send To is configured the dialog will be blank.
To set up an FTP site:
1. Select Send To from the File menu.
2. Click the New button.

Using Send To
To use Send To:
1. Create the ticket file as outlined in the previous sect ion.
2. Select the file to send from the MicroTicket main screen.
3. Select Send To from the File menu.
Correct information by selecting a site name and clicking the Edit button
Delete a site by selecting the name and clicking the Delete button
4. Select the FTP site where the file should be sent.
5. Click OK.
6. Enter a name for the file in the dialog that is displayed.
7. Click OK.
If an FTP site has been set up, it will be listed in the dialog shown above. If there is no FTP
site configured, the dialog will be blank. Click
