PAPER FEED SECTION

1.2 Operation

1.2.1 Tray up drive control

When the paper feed tr ay is set, the PS101 (Tray sensor /3) de tec ts the tr ay to t ur n on the M1 01 (Tray up
drive motor /3). As a result, the wire is wound up to lift the tray.
When the PS1 02 (Tray upper limi t sensor /3) is turn ed on to de tect th e paper upper li mit, the M1 01 goes
off. When paper is fed and the PS102 is turned off, the M101 lifts the paper lift plat e until the PS102 is
turned on again. When the tray is pulled out, the coupling is released and the paper lift plate goes down by
its own weight.

1.2.2 Paper feed control

The paper feed system i s driven by the M100 (D B paper feed motor ). When th e SD101 (Pape r feed sole­noid /U) is turned on, the 1st paper feed section feeds paper to the registration section.

II UNIT EXPLANATION

1.2.3 Remaining paper detection control

The remaining paper quantity is detected by the PS101 (Tray sensor /3) and the PS109 (Remaining paper
sensor). The paper lift plate goes up gradually as the quantity of paper in the tray is getting reduced. Inter­locking with the paper l ift plate that goes up, th e actuat or at t he rear of the tray rotates . The remaining
paper quantity is det ected by the combina tion of the PS101 and th e PS109 whe n they are tur ned on and
off by the actuator.
No paper detection is made by the PS103 (No paper sensor /3).

1.2.4 Paper size detection

The paper size in the tray can be set by turning the PSDTB /3 (Paper size detection board /3) by hand, and
the DBDB (DB drive b oard) d etects a swit ch sign al acc ording to th e positio n o f the SW 1. The tab le bel ow
shows the relationship between the switch signal and the paper size.

• Make sure the power cord of the copier is
unplugged from the power outlet before dis­assembly or assembly.

1. PAPER FEED SECTION

1.1 Removing and reinstalling the tray front cover and the paper feed tray

1. Pull out the paper fee d tray and take out the 5

screws [1] and remove the tray front cover [2].

2. Remove the 5 screws [2] from the guide rai ls [1]

and remove the paper feed tray [3] from the
guide rails.

3. Reinstall the above parts following the remova l

steps in reverse.

1. Remove the paper feed tray.

2. Remove the 4 claws [1] in the arrow-marked

direction, and remove the tray cover [2].

3. Open the paper feed door, take out the 3 screws

[3] and remove the paper size setting unit [4].

4. Remove the 3 screws [1] and remove the cover

5. Remove the paper size setting unit connector

6. When the LT is installed, remove the screw [1]
and then remove the LT guide plate unit [2].

7. Remove the screws [1] indicated by the arrow
mark, and then remove the paper feed unit [2] to
forward.

8. Reinstall the above parts following the remova l
steps in reverse.

Note:

• Be sure t o install the paper feed unit [2] s o that
the arrow mark impressed on the notched section
[3] of the paper feed unit [2] comes above the
hook [4].

• Install the paper feed un it [2] so that th e hook [5]
of the paper feed rol ler holder comes above the
paper feed roller release arm [6].

1.3 Replacing the paper feed rubber and the feed rubber / U

A. Periodically replaced parts/cycle

• Paper feed rubber: Every 240,000 cop ies (once
for every 200,000 copies for actual durable
count)

• Feed rubber: Every 240,000 copies (once for
every 200,000 copies for actual durable count)

B. Procedure

1. Remove the paper feed unit.

2. Remove the 2 stop ri ngs [1] and the front side

bearing [2]. Then slide the re ar side bearing [3]
to the rear to remove the paper fee d roller unit
[4].

3. Remove the collar [1] and pull out the feed shaft
[2].

4. Remove the feed rubber [4] from the feed roller
[3].

5. Remove the stop ring [5] and pul l out the paper
feed shaft [6].

6. Remove the paper feed rubber [8] from the
paper feed roller [7].

7. Reinstall the above par ts following the removal
steps in reverse.

Note:

• Be su re to install the feed rubber [4] so that the
paint mark [9] turns in the direction show n in the
drawing.

1.4 Replacing the double feed prevention rubber

A. Periodically replaced parts/cycle

• Double feed prevention rubber: Every 240,000
copies (once for every 2 00,000 cop ies for actua l
durable count)

B. Procedure

1. Remove the paper feed unit.

2. Remove the screw [1].

3. Pushing the knobs [2] on both sides with your

fingers and remove the double feed prevention
roller unit [3].

4. While pushing the lever [2] of the lever click
shaft [1], pull out the lever click shaft [1] and
remove the double feed prevention roller.

5. Remove the double feed prevention rubber [4]
from the double feed prevention roller [3].

6. Reinstall the above parts following the remova l
steps in reverse.

Note:

• Be su re to in stall the double f eed preven tion rub ­ber so that the paint mark [5 ] shown abo ve turns
in the direction shown in the drawing.

• When ins talling the double feed preventi on roller
unit [1], be sure to align the upper section of the
claw [2] with the center (the lo ngest scale) of the
marking [3] impressed on the plate for leveling.

A. Removing the wires

1. Remove the tray front cover and the pap er feed
tray.

2. Remove the screw [1] and remove front and
rear wire protection covers [2].

3. Remove the screw [3], and remove the wire pro­tective cover [4] on the rear side.

4. Remove the screw [1], loosen the screw [2], and
then rotate the tension plate [3] in the arrow­marked direction to remove the assist wire [5]
from the drive assist spring [4].

5. Peel off the seal [6] from the detection reel [5].

6. Rotate the detection reel [5] counterclockwise

and remove the detection wire [7] from the reel.

7. Remove the E-ring [1] and remove the drive pul­ley /F [2]. And then remove the assist wire [3],
the wire A [4] and the wire B [5].

8. Remove the E-ring [6] and slide the drive pulle y

B. Stringing wires

1. Pass wire A [1], wire B [2], wire C [3], and wire D
[4] through tray.

2. Pass wire A [5] and wire B [6] along pulley
groove and pass un der the wi re adjus tme nt pa rt
[7].

3. Pass wire C [8] and wire D [9] along pulley
groove.

4. Having inserted detection wire [1] and wire D [2]
and wire C [3] into the drive shaft, push the drive
pulley [4] on and fasten with the E-ring [5].

5. Having inserted assist wire [6] and wire A [7]
and wire B [8] into the drive shaft, push the drive
pulley [9] on and fasten the E-ring [10].

• Be sure to in stall the front and rear drive pulley s
[4] and [9] so that the slits through which the
wires of the drive pulleys are passed turn in the
same direction.

6. Wind the assist wire [11] 5 times around the
drive pulley from back to forth clockwise.

7. Attach the assist wire [1] to the drive assist
spring [2]. Turn the tension plate [3] to apply ten­sion, and tighten the 2 screws [4].

8. Lift the tray. With the wire tip pointing upward,
wind wires C and D around the drive pulley 3
times. Then wind the detecti on wire [5] 1.5 time
around to the left (counterclockwise).

9. Rotate the detection reel [6] approximately 1
turn counter-clockwise, th en wind the detection
wire [5] 1 time around the re el [6] in a righ tward
direction (starting from the top).

10. Put the seal [7] on the detection reel [6].

11. Tighten the scre w [1] an d install the wire protec­tive cover /F [2].

12. Tighten the screw [3] and install the wire protec­tive cover /R [4].

Note:

• After finishing wire replacement or rewiring, move
the paper lift plate up and down by hand to con­firm that moves smo othly.

• Make su re that the wires do not cr os s each o ther,
or a wire does not run on another wire.

• After installing wires, adjust “DB-411 tray tilt
adjustment”.

III. Installation procedure

[1] Preparation

1. Remove the lock tapes inside the tray.
(DB-211: Upper and lower trays)

[2] Installing the main body

Caution:

• When placing the main body on the drawer
base unit, be sure to lift it by holding both sides
as shown below. (Draw two carrying handles
on the right side.)

• Be sure to have two or more personnel work
together for installing the main body.

Heed the above cautions to avoid suffering inju­ries to your fingers.

Caution:

Before carrying the machine, attach two stopper
covers included in the accessory parts of the main
body to the carrying handles as illustrated below.

2. Return each tray to its original position.

1. Fit the front fixing cover.

2. Place the main body onto the drawer base unit,
aligning the two guide pins on the rear side of the
drawer base unit.

Caution:

Be careful not to catch the connector wire of the
drawer base unit in between the main body and
the drawer base unit.

6. Remove the connector cover of the main body,
then connect the two connectors of the drawer
base unit to the main body.

7. Fix the connector cover (included in accessories)
with a screw.

3. Confirm that the right side door of the main body
is flush with the right side cover of the drawer
base unit.

4. Check that the casters of the drawer base unit
touch securely on the floor.

For DB-211, perform the following steps 5 to 8.
For DB-411, perform the following steps 5 to 7.

5. Open the right side cover of the drawer base unit,
then fix the accessory guide part. (1 screw)

8. Put the paper size label. (DB-211 only)
(1) Put the paper size label around the paper size

indication dial, aligning the top edge of the
label with the groove on the dial.

(2) Set the dial at the paper size to be loaded in

the tray.

[3] Locking the casters

Lower the lock lever of each caster. (Two at the
front)

<Changing the position of the front/rear paper guide
plates>

1. Remove the reinforcing plate. (2 screw)

2. Remove two screw fixing the front paper guide,
then remove it from the LCT bottom plate.

3. Place the front paper guide at the position of the
paper size to be used by referring to the size indi­cator, then fix it with the two screws.

4. Reinstall the reinforcing plate.

5. Repeat the same procedure for resetting the rear
paper guide.

<Changing the position of the rear stopper>

6. Remove the rear stopper, holding it by the center
of the inside. Referring to the paper size marked
on the tray up-down plate of the LCT, set the rear
stopper at the position of the paper size required.

Caution:

When loading inch-sized paper, use the rear stop­per (small) included in accessories.

[4] Setting the paper size (DB-411 only)

The LCT has initially been set to accept A4 paper.
Follow the procedure below to change the paper
size setting inside the LCT.

Change the fixing positions of the front and rear
paper guides and rear stopper to fit the paper size to
be used.

7. Set the paper size indication dial at the paper
size to be loaded in the tray.
