KNOW YOUR TOASTER
BEFORE FIRST USE
As there may be manufacturing residue on the toaster or heating element, it may emit an odour upon first use. This is normal and will not occur after several times use. Before toasting your first slice of bread, it is strongly recommended that you operate the appliance following the instructions below, but without bread.
USING YOUR TOASTER
1. Put a bread slice into the bread slot, or you can insert two slices of bread at once. Only regular sized sliced bread can be placed into the slot.
2. Plug the power cord into the outlet.
3. Set the colour knob of the toaster to your desired colour. There are 7 positions, with the lowest being white and the highest being extremely dark. Bread will be toasted to a golden brown at the “4” position.
4. Press the carriage handle down until it is positioned in place. The CANCEL indicator will be illuminated and the toasting will begin. Once the toast has been toasted to the set level, the carriage handle will automatically spring up. You can then manually lift the handle slightly higher to assist in the removal of the toast. Note: The carriage handle will not latch down if the toaster is not connected to a power source.
5.During the toasting process, if the bread is toasted to your preference or if it starts to over cook, you can press the CANCEL button to end the toasting process.
6. If the bread has been taken out of the freezer, set the colour control knob as desired, then press the carriage handle down until it is in position. Then press the DEFROST button, at which point the defrost indicator will illuminate. The toast will be cooked to your desired level.
7. If you want to reheat cold toast, press the carriage handle down until it is in position, then press the REHEAT button. The reheat indicator will illuminate and the toast will be reheated. This function is on a set time, so the colour control knob will have no effect on the time.
8. If you wish to toast only one side of the bread slice, set the colour control knob and then press the carriage handle down until it is in position. Press the BAGEL button and the indicator next to it will illuminate. In this mode only the outer heating elements will function, which means the slices of bread facing inwards will not toast. Once the bread has been toasted to the preset colour, the carriage handle will automatically spring up and end the toasting process.
CAUTION
1. Remove all protective wrapping prior to toasting.
2. If the toaster starts to smoke, press the CANCEL button immediately.
3. Avoid toasting foods with runny ingredients such as butter on honey.
4. Never attempt to remove bread jammed in the slots without unplugging the toaster from the electrical outlet first. Be sure not to damage the internal mechanism or heating elements while removing bread.
5. The bread slot is only suitable for toasting regular sliced bread.
COOKERY TIPS
1. Disconnect the power supply before cleaning.
2. Wipe the outside of the toaster with a soft dry cloth after the toaster has cooled down.
3. Pull out the crumb tray on the bottom of the toaster and empty it. If the toaster is used frequently, accumulated bread crumbs should be removed at least once a week. Make sure the crumb tray is completely closed before using the toaster again.
4. When not in use or storage, the power cord may be wound up under the bottom of the toaster.
