About This Release
New Features
Unicode Support
▪ Exchange Server 2003 SP2
▪ SAP 7
▪ Cisco CallManager 9
All Microsoft hotfixes released until 1 June 2013 were installed.
This section lists enhancements that have been added to the product in Kofax Communication
Server 9.2.0.
Kofax Communication Server (KCS) now supports Unicode.
Kofax Communication Server did support non-English characters before; however, it was
required that KCS be configured to a particular code page / character set. While the code
page concept allows KCS to work with a variety of character sets, it has the fundamental
drawback that it can't work with all character sets at the same time. For example, having both
Russian and Japanese characters in one message was not possible.
With this release, Kofax Communication Server can be configured to use Unicode (UTF-8) to
store and process message data. Administrators and users can display these messages in both
client applications, TCfW Communication Server Client and TC/Web client.
Any non-Unicode message received by KCS is converted to Unicode and then stored in KCS.
Messages sent via the following TC/LINK types can be sent in Unicode:
▪ Link types base on SMTP protocol (SM, OC, SDD, MFP, MX7, SC7)
▪ TC/LINK-LN
▪ TC/LINK-FI (file formats TOM, XML)
▪ TC/LINK-MD and TC/LINK-WM
▪ TC/LINK-MQ (file formats TOM, XML)
Messages sent via other TC/LINK types continue to use the local character set on the interface
of the remote system.
For more information, see:
▪ Unicode Installation Guide, version 9.02.00 edition 2
Support for Third-Party Software
The following third-party software is newly supported with Kofax Communication
Server9.2.0.
▪ Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8 and 9 (fax and voice integration)
▪ IBM MQ 7.5 (supported in TC/LINK-MQ)
▪ Internet Explorer 10
▪ Lotus Notes 9 (supported for TC/LINK-LN, TC/SPI-LN, but not for TC/MWA-LN)
▪ Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 (supported for TC/LINK-MX7, but not for TC/MWA-MX
and TC/SPI-MX)

Newly supported operating systems:
▪ Windows 8 Professional / Enterprise (KCS client applications only)
▪ Windows Server 2012 (KCS server components, links, TCfW client)
▪ Hyper-V on Windows Server 2012 host
TCIMG32: Disabling Halftone Dithering
It is now possible to disable halftone dithering when converting PDF documents into black
and white images. The resulting image is faster to fax, but the quality of graphics is lower.
(SPR00104667)
This behavior is controlled by a new registry value “HKLM\Software\Topcall\TCLINKxx
\TCIMG32\Halftonedither” that can take the following values:
▪ 0: Halftone dithering is disabled.
▪ 1: Halftone dithering is enabled (default value).
If this registry value does not exist, halftone dithering is enabled.

TC/Broadcast: New Template Variables $PagesSent$ and $PagesSentTotal$
TC/Broadcast sends an end report to the user when all messages for a job are terminated. You
can now use two additional variables in the notification templates (SPR00113578):
▪ $PagesSent$ - number of fax pages sent for this send order (“-” if no fax send order)
▪ $PagesSentTotal$ - total number of fax pages sent for this send order, including retries (“-”
if no fax send order)
For more information, see:
▪ TC/Broadcast Manual, version 1.12.00 edition 2
TC/LINK: Exception Queue Handling for Email Body Conversion Issues
Exception queue handling is enhanced in this release. You can use this feature not only for
problematic attachments, but also in case of problems in the email body. (SPR00122130,

About This Release
TC/LINK: Suppress Page Break Between Notification and Message
TC/LINK: Conversion of EML Files with Embedded Attachments
TC/LINK can be configured to suppress page breaks between the notification text and the
image of the original message. (SPR00102188)
This behavior is controlled by a new registry value “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software
\TOPCALL\<linkname>\TOPCALL\NotifImageFirstPage” that can take the following
values:
▪ 0: Notification image file has a page break after the notification text (default)
▪ 1: No page break between notification text and the start of original message image
For more information, see:
▪ TC/LINK Technical Manual, version 2.27.00 edition 4
Chapter Product Description - Notifications - Notifications into Mail
TC/LINK can successfully convert EML files with embedded attachments. This applies to the
following links (FR2479):
TC/LINK-MD: Periodic Alerts to Detect Connection Loss
TC/LINK-MD can be configured to send UCP-31 alert operations during each poll cycle. If
there is no positive feedback for the UCP-31 command, connections are shut down and then
reinitialized. (SPR00102608)
This function is controlled by the following registry values:
▪ Ucp31Support - Set to 1 to send a UCP-31 alert command during each poll cycle (disabled
by default)
▪ Ucp31AdC - Address Code as required by the UCP 31 alert command
▪ Ucp31Pid - Protocol Identifier as required by the UCP 31 alert command
For more information, see:
▪ TC/LINK-WM and TC/LINK-MD Technical Manual, version 2.21.00 edition 6
Chapter Registry Keys Used by TC/LINK-WM (MD) - Configuration Details (TC/LINK-
MD KCS UCP Only) - UCP-31 Alert Command
TC/LINK-MQ: Message Segmentation
TC/LINK-MQ supports message segmentation and reassembly by the application. This is for
messages (transaction files or attachments) that are too large for the queue manager or the
queue to handle. (SPR00105583)
10
Kofax Communication Server Release Notes
This behavior is controlled by a new registry value “HKLM\Software\Topcall\TCLINKMQ
\Options\MessageSegmentation” that can take the following values:
▪ 0: Message segmentation is disabled (default value)
▪ 1: Message segmentation is enabled
It might be necessary to increase the log file size and numbers of the queue manager.
Note MQ Message Segmentation does not work with character conversion. Character
conversion is only performed for TOM transaction files if requested by the application calling
MQGet.
TC/LINK-MQ: SSL Connection to Message Queue Server
TC/LINK-MQ can now connect to IBM WebSphere MQ Server using SSL. (SPR00121425)
For more information, see:
▪ TC/LINK-MQ Technical Manual, version 2.26.00 edition 4
Chapter Appendix - TC/LINK-MQ with SSL
TC/MWA-MX: Support of Microsoft Exchange 2010
About This Release
TC/MWA-MX now supports Microsoft Exchange 2010. (SPR00092313)
For more information, see:
▪ TC/MWA-MX Technical Manual, version 1.03.00 edition 2
TC/LINK-MX7: Support of Microsoft Exchange Server 2013
TC/LINK-MX7 now supports Exchange Server 2013 (cumulative update 1 or later).
(SPR00119847)
Note Exchange Server 2013 is not supported with TC/MWA-MX and TC/SPI-MX.
TC/LINK-SM: Configurable Default Character Set
You can configure how TC/LINK-SM interprets MIME header fields that contain special
characters if no character set is specified. Previously, the character set was hard-coded to
ISO-8859-1. ISO-8859-1 is also the new default value. (SPR00122876)
The character set is configured by the registry value TCMIME\DefaultCharset. Supported
values are: windows-xxxx, ISO-8859-X, us-ascii. The value is treated as case-insensitive.
For more information, see:
▪ TC/LINK-SM / TC/LINK-OC Technical Manual, version 2.07.00 edition 14
Chapter Appendix - Registry Keys Used by TC/LINK-SM
TC/LINK-SM: Keep Empty Attachments
You can configure TC/LINK-SM to keep empty attachments. Previously, zero-length
attachments were silently deleted. This is also the current default behavior. (SPR00111345)
Kofax Communication Server Release Notes
11
About This Release
TC/LINK-SM: Configurable Date Format in Email Header
The behavior is controlled by the registry value TCMIME\KeepEmptyAttachments:
▪ 0 - Delete empty attachments (default)
▪ 1 - Process empty attachments
For more information, see:
▪ TC/LINK-SM / TC/LINK-OC Technical Manual, version 2.07.00 edition 14
Chapter Appendix - Registry Keys Used by TC/LINK-SM
You can configure the date and time format shown in the email header in body text.
(SPR00121797)
The HTML header is defined in the file ExitEmailHeaderConfig.txt in the c:\tcoss\tclp
folder. This UTF-8 text file consists of internal variables defining the HTML snippets of the
header to be created.
The variable $dateTimeFormat in ExitEmailHeaderConfig.txt defines the date and time
format. The default value is dd.MM.yyyy HH:mm:ss. This value is case-sensitive.
Setup will overwrite ExitEmailHeaderConfig.txt and ExitEmailHeader.txt. Always make a
copy of these files if you change them. Setup makes a backup copy with postfix “.backup”;
however, if you start setup a second time your changes are lost.
For more information, see:
▪ TC/LINK-SM / TC/LINK-OC Technical Manual, version 2.07.00 edition 14
Chapter Installation - Special Features - Email Header in Body Text - Configuration of
HTML Header
TC/LINK-SM: Convert Text Attachments to UTF-8
You can configure TC/LINK-SM to convert text attachments to UTF-8 with correct byte order
mark when sending to KCS. (SPR00121837)
The behavior is configured by a new registry value:
TCMIME\ConvertTextAttachmentToUtf8.
▪ 0: Do not change plain text attachments when sending to KCS. This is the default value for
all links except TC/LINK-SC7.
▪ 1: When sending to KCS, try to convert text attachments to UTF-8 with the correct byte
order mark.
For more information, see:
▪ TC/LINK-SM / TC/LINK-OC Technical Manual, version 2.07.00 edition 14
Chapter Appendix - Registry Keys Used by TC/LINK-SM
TC/SOAP: Configure URL Used in SoapAction Header Field
12
The URL used in the SoapAction header field is configurable in a new registry value,
SOAPPROC\SoapActionPrefix. (SPR00070999)
Kofax Communication Server Release Notes
This value defines the string between “http://” and “/PostMessage” (or other function
name) in the SoapAction header field. The value is only effective if ShortSoapAction is set to
0.
Example: If SoapActionPrefix equals “vm-fs-links.local/KCSFunctions”, the resulting
SOAPAction could be “http://vm-fs-links.local/KCSFunctions/PostMessage”.
If this value is not specified or empty, the SOAPAction value is built from the complete server
URL, as specified by the fixed or dynamic recipient.
For more information, see:
▪ TC/SOAP Technical Manual, version 1.06.00 edition 2
Chapter Appendix - Registry Keys
TWS: Display Page Count on Fax Cover Page
The TWS web service function SendMessage has a new optional parameter, Pages. The
number of fax pages can now be displayed on the cover page in the cover variable $EPg$.
(SPR00122879)
The Pages parameter can take the following values:
▪ -1: The number of pages is calculated automatically. Using this option can affect sending
performance, as a message preview must be first generated to count the pages.
▪ 0: The number of pages is not displayed on the cover sheet (default value).
▪ 1, 2, 3, ... 999: The specified value is displayed on the cover sheet.

Example: On a system with 30 fax channels configured while licensed for only 10 channels,
the 10 licensed channels work normally and the remaining 20 cannot send / receive and
display an error.
Outdated Files Removed from Setup
The following files are not needed any more and they are no longer installed by Kofax
Communication Server setup.
The files are not deleted during upgrade from an older KCS release.
This applies to the following Kofax Communication Server components:
▪ TC/Broadcast

Kofax Communication Server Release Notes
Resolved Issues
The following issues reported for a previous version of the product are fixed in this release.
TC/LINK-LN: Cannot Send to Lotus Notes
TC/LINK-LN occasionally failed to post fax messages to Lotus Notes. This issue has been
resolved. TC/LINK-LN now removes custom KCS fax markers that cause problems with
the Lotus Notes API. Additionally, automatic retries have been implemented along with an
option to reinitialize the Lotus Notes API. (SPR00118454)
TC/LINK-MD: Incoming SMS Shown as Hex Code
Certain inbound SMS messages encoded with ISO-8859-1 were not handled correctly. A new
version of the TOPS SDK included in this version of Kofax Communication Server solves the
problem. (SPR00093582)
Chapter 2
TC/LINK-MD Restarting Periodically
A null-pointer exception in TC/LINK-MD resulted in periodic restarts (every minute). This
issue has been resolved. (SPR00120969)
TC/LINK-MQ: Error 2068
TC/LINK-MQ used to read the maximum configured message size from the
queue, but this was not possible for remote queues and resulted in error 2068,
MQRC_SELECTOR_NOT_FOR_TYPE. The link now reads the maximum size both from the
queue and the queue manager and uses the lower value, or the default 4 MB if no reasonable
value is available. (SPR00125489)
TC/LINK-MX: Empty Fax Numbers
Upgrading TC/LINK-MX to the latest version no longer causes all fax and SMS recipients
defined in the active directory to be resolved to empty fax numbers. (SPR00119550)
TC/LINK-SM: Conversion of Multipart/Related Content
Emails with multipart/related content were not correctly imported into Kofax Capture.
(SPR00071233)
You can now configure the link to save a multipart-related message body in MHT format.
This content can be successfully converted using the Internet Explorer based conversion
script.

▪ TC/LINK-SM / TC/LINK-OC Technical Manual, version 2.07.00 edition 14
Chapter Installation - Special Features - Handling of Multipart/Alternative
TC/LINK-SM: Slow Performance with Large Attachments
In some environments, the performance of TC/LINK-SM for messages with large attachments
was very slow. This issue has been resolved. (SPR00175831)
TC/LINK-SM: Missing Character Set Information Leads to Fax
Corruption
TC/LINK-SM's feature that adds character set information from MIME header into HTML
header used to be very restricted, resulting in corrupted characters in fax messages. This issue
has been now resolved. (SPR00091307)
For more information, see:
▪ TC/LINK-SM / TC/LINK-OC Technical Manual, version 2.07.00 edition 14
Chapter Installation - Special Features - Setting the HTML Character Set
TC/LINK-SM: HTML Attachments Treated as Body
All HTML blocks in a message used to be treated as message body, even though they were
attachments. This behavior has now been corrected. (SPR00121981)
TC/LINK-SM: ExitEmailHeader Adds Header in Wrong Position
In certain conditions (such as secure emails) the ExitEmailHeader skips an HTML attachment
and adds the header later (for example, to the second HTML attachment and on the second
page). (SPR00121796)
This issue has been resolved; the first HTML part is used for message header.
TC/LINK-SM: ExitEmailHeader and Messages Without Body
ExitEmailHeader now adds a header to emails that don't have a message body. (SPR00121794)
TC/LINK-SM: ExitEmailHeader Ignores Text in Angle Brackets
ExitEmailHeader no longer ignores portions of the message subject enclosed by angle
brackets. (SPR00121752)
TC/LINK-SM: Multiple Embedded Images Per Line
TC/LINK-SM did not correctly handle messages that included multiple embedded images in
a single HTML line. Only the first image was processed. This issue has been resolved and the
entire HTML line is checked for embedded images. (SPR00093079)

TC/LINK: Conversion of Corrupt PDF Leads to Link Failure
Conversion of a corrupt PDF file could lead to link failure. This issue has been resolved.
(SPR00113139)
TC/LINK: Some PDF Files Converted as Blank Pages
Due to a limitation in a third-party document conversion library, some PDFs could not be
converted. This issue has been resolved by the third-party vendor. (SPR00101991)
TC/LINK: ++DIGISIGN / ++INC Commands
The ++DIGISIGN and ++INC commands are now recognized, even if they are the only
content of a text block. (SPR00175763)
KCS Monitoring: License Check Generating Entries in Audit Log
When using audit logs for logon/logoff with KCS Monitoring, a periodic license check
generated an entry in the logs every four seconds. The license information can now be cached
for up to 24 hours. (SPR00105711)
Resolved Issues
To activate license caching:
Open Cockpit.xml from the folder <ProgramData>\Kofax\KCS\Cockpit with a text
Having an incorrect password in the registry value HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node
\TOPCALL\TCPROBE\DBPassword used to result in a runtime error in the Management
Console. This situation is now handled properly. (SPR00121517)

23
Resolved Issues
Capture Connector: Color PDF Loses Color
When importing via KCS Capture Connector to Kofax Capture, PDF attachments with long
names including foreign characters sometimes had their extension truncated. That resulted in
problems with document conversion, such as a color PDF converted to black and white. This
issue has been resolved. (SPR00111643)
Capture Connector: Periodic Restarts If One of Multiple Connections
Down
If KCS Capture Connector was restarted and at least one of several configured connections
was not available, Capture Connector kept restarting and then it failed. This issue is now
resolved. (SPR00122046)
Capture Connector: Invalid Characters in File Name
If KCS Capture Connector encountered an invalid character in a file name, it would restart
periodically. This issue has been resolved, and invalid characters are filtered. (SPR00121185)
Under a heavy load, KCS Capture Connector occasionally fails to import messages. Messages
are imported successfully after a manual reactivation. (SPR00118510)
The issue has been resolved. KCS Capture Connector now automatically reactivates some
messages that it previously failed to deliver.
Capture Connector: COMException Bad Variable Type
Under a heavy load, occasionally batches from KCS Capture Connector are rejected. Traces
show COMException (0x80020008): Bad variable type. The import functions correctly
when resubmitted. This issue has been resolved. (SPR00112858)
Capture Connector: COM API Error When Retrieving Folder Fields
Information
Kofax Capture sometimes returns a COM API error when KCS Capture Connector tries to
retrieve folder fields information through the API. This issue has been resolved by improving
error handling. (SPR00111088)
Capture Connector: DEBUG and Large Files Information
24
When the trace level of KCS Capture Connector is set to “DEBUG,” sending large files can
result in an out of memory exception. This issue has been resolved. (SPR00092253)
Kofax Communication Server Release Notes
Capture Connector: Concurrency During File Import
When multiple threads imported files into Kofax Capture at the same time, a file from one
thread can be overwritten with a file from another thread. This issue has been resolved.
(SPR00124807)
ASP: Connection Problems Between Storage and Media Servers
Previous behavior: If the TCOSS storage server instances in an ASP system have the registry
value “RemoteChannels\OwnIPAddress” defined, the bind() to this address will not
work in most cases, resulting in trace entries like amrem bind to 192.168.5.14 failed
(WSAEADDRINUSE). This may cause connection problems if the media server is running on the
same computer. (SPR00114060)
This problem has been resolved, and a storage server can now detect a condition where it
connects to itself (as a result of wrong configuration).
TC/LANPRT: Handle Leak in Spooler
Resolved Issues
A handle leak in the spooler when using TC/LANPRT in printer driver mode with multiple
pages has been closed. (SPR00113932)
TCfW: Text Export of Log Entries Folder
Exporting the Log Entries folder in TCfW with Folder\Export Fields used to result in an error
Function call to this object not permitted. This issue has been resolved and the
folder can be exported. (SPR00121317)
Document Conversion: Offline Mode for HTML Not Working
The offline mode property in the HTML.txt conversion script does not function properly with
newer releases of Internet Explorer (9 or higher). You can now disable loading of remote parts
of the HTML document in a new registry value (SPR00176164):
HKLM\Software\TOPCALL\TCDCLINK\General\HtmlOfflineMode
▪ 0 (default): Remote parts of the HTML are loaded.
▪ 1: No remote parts of the document are loaded.
For more information, see:
▪ KCS Document Conversion Technical Manual, version 2.17.00 edition 5
Chapter Installation - Printing Applications - Internet Explorer
TCDC: Empty Pages Causing Multiple Print Jobs
When converting HTML attachments for fax output using newer versions of Internet Explorer
(9, 10), additional empty pages were inserted, resulting in multiple print jobs. This issue has
been resolved. (SPR00121767)
Kofax Communication Server Release Notes
25
Resolved Issues
TCDC: TCDC Stops Working
Document Conversion would occasionally stop working when a leftover file remained in the
temporary folder. Files are now cleaned up properly. (SPR00124514)
TCDCLINK: Problem Between Printer Client and Printer
After printing a document that creates multiple print jobs, a deadlock could develop between
the printer client (tcddimcl.dll) and printer (tcddimon.dll). Restarting TCSRV and/or the
computer was necessary. (SPR00121761, SPR00121765)
This issue has been resolved.
TCDCLINK: Unsupported PDF Formats Don't Generate an Error
Portfolio PDF files are not supported by KCS. Their content was discarded and an alternate
content was shown, though the user was not notified. They properly generate a document
conversion error now. (SPR00093449)
TC/Web: Cannot Delete Users
It is now possible to mark and delete a user. (SPR00120106)
TC/Web: Cannot Access and Terminate Messages Using Metamail
It is possible access and terminate (mark complete) messages by clicking the received URL
(TC/At2Url). (SPR00113060, SPR00105008)
TC/Web: User Right: Enter Number Directly
Users without the right to enter numbers directly were able to do so. This user right
restriction is now properly enforced when creating or correcting a message. (SPR00118424)
TC/Web: Filters Not Working
Filters for From/Outbox and Recipient/Inbox did not work properly. This issue has been
resolved. (SPR00072598)
TC/VoiceAccess: Cannot Leave Message with VoiceMail
An END_OF_FILE message belonging to a previous connection was kept in the incoming
queue and interrupted the next attempt to leave a message. This issue has been resolved, and
all EOF messages not related to the current call are now suppressed. (SPR00113936)

Kofax Communication Server Release Notes
Resolved Issues
TC/VoiceLink2 Failure
VoiceLink2 would fail when one thread deleted an object but another thread still had a copy
of its pointer. This issue has been resolved. (SPR00111798)
TC/VoiceLink2: Mailbox Detection
It could happen in an outbound call that voicelink detected a voice mailbox even when a
human picked up the line. This issue has been resolved. (SPR00105284)
TC/VoiceAccess: Voicemail Not Working with Microsoft Exchange
Updates
Microsoft Exchange 2010, Service Pack 2, Rollup 6, or Service Pack 3 used to cause issues with
voicemail. This issue has been resolved. (SPR00105284)
TC/SNMP: KCS Performance Counters Disabled
Occasionally, TCLib would fail and KCS performance counters would be disabled. This issue
has been resolved. (SPR00113553)
Fax over IP: Empty Voicemail
When silence suppression was used by IP environment, KCS Fax over IP used to create empty
voicemails. This issue has been resolved. (SPR00123650)
Fax over IP: Out-of-Sequence Packet Handling
KCS FoIP used to drop out-of-sequence packets that were received too early. Handling of outof-sequence packets has been improved. (SPR00119704)
Fax over IP: Faxes Lost Without Warning
KCS FoIP used to send a positive response to a remote fax even if a message from the remote
fax could not be stored in TCOSS (because its number series ran out). (SPR00113979)
This issue has been resolved. The call is now disconnected, the sending fax machine gets an
error (T.30 Disconnect during training), and an event log entry is created.
Tandem Server: Remote Disk Access Timeout
After a remote disk access timeout, disk update would not start until the TCOSS running on
the secondary server is manually restarted. This occasionally happens in high load situations,
particularly on virtual environment. This issue has been resolved. (SPR00092990)

Kofax Communication Server Release Notes
This section contains information about potential issues that you could encounter while using
Kofax Communication Server.
KCS EasyConfig Update
If you upgrade an older KCS deployed via EasyConfig to the latest release, you must start the
KCS EasyConfig tool and redeploy the configuration. (SPR00104109)
Upgrade to the latest KCS release by starting EasySetup.exe from the installation ISO.
1
Start the KCS EasyConfig tool from the Kofax Communication Server program group
2
on the Windows Start menu. EasyConfig informs you that the current configuration has
been modified.
Click Deploy.
3
Select to deploy All. Click OK. Wait until the configuration is updated.
4
Perform the actions listed in the deployment log (for example, you might need to restart
5
certain KCS components). Click Close.
Chapter 3
Known Issues
Symantec Tamper Protection Alert During KCS Client Setup
When you update Kofax Communication Server client software on a computer with Symantec
Endpoint Protection, a tamper protection alert might be displayed. (SPR00104834)
You can safely ignore this message. The installation procedure is not affected.
TC/Perflog on Newer Operating Systems
On Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012, the data collector set
(default=TCPERFLOG) and reports (TCPERFLOG_xxx) created with TC/Perflog are not
displayed in the Windows Performance Monitor. You can only open the log files from the
PERFLOG folder (default=c:\tcoss\perflog). (SPR00093515)
Document Conversion: HTML and Windows Server 2012
Internet Explorer 10 shipped with Windows Server 2012 does not support conversion of
HTM/HTML files. KCS document conversion can convert HTM/HTML documents only if
Microsoft Office is installed on computers with this operating system. (SPR00122725)
For more information, see:
▪ KCS Document Conversion Technical Manual, version 2.17.00 edition 4
Chapter Hints and Restrictions - Restrictions - HTM/HTML Conversion on Windows
Server 2012
Kofax Communication Server Release Notes
37
Known Issues
Document Conversion: Text Alternative Not Unicode
When you are using TWS or TC/LINK document conversion for Word or Excel documents
with Unicode characters, the text alternative is not Unicode. (SPR00121081)
EasyConfig: Service Name Length Not Restricted
In EasyConfig, if you are using non-English characters, such as Japanese symbols, it is
possible to configure longer service names than what can be saved correctly. (SPR00113538)
Note The service names can be only 8 bytes long. Japanese symbols require up to 3 bytes per
symbol, therefore, only 2 symbols are possible.
Fax over IP: Message Wait Indication and Avaya
Although both Avaya Communication Manager and KCS Fax over IP support message wait
indication signaling using the SIP NOTIFY method, message wait indication does not work.
(SPR00119076)
Fax over IP: SIP Calls Can Fail with Large Messages
FoIP SIP calls via TCP or TLS can fail if SIP messages are received in multiple network
packets. In such case, KCS FoIP processes an incomplete SIP message. The following or
similar errors are written to the FoIP trace file (SPR00176917):
Error reading SIP message, Sip2XML read error, bad SIP message
Workaround: Use SIP via UDP.
Japanese and Other Characters Rotated
Japanese, Chinese, and other characters may appear rotated by 90 degrees. (SPR00113545)
Workaround: Fonts beginning with the at sign (@), such as @Arial Unicode MS, support
vertical writing of certain languages. Use fonts without the at sign, such as Arial Unicode MS.
KCS Client Applications Fail to Start After Update
If you update only KCS client applications on a computer that also includes KCS server
components, the client software fails to start because of obsolete shared modules.
(SPR00176011)
Mixing components from the latest and older KCS releases is not supported, even if they are
installed on different computers.
38
Workaround: Always update all KCS components to the latest release. Update server
components before updating the client applications.
Kofax Communication Server Release Notes
TC/LINK-LN: Some Messages Cannot Be Processed
With Lotus Notes client software older than release 8.5.3, some messages cannot be processed
by TC/LINK-LN. Installing Lotus Notes client 8.5.3 on the TC/LINK computer solves the
problem. (SPR00092298)
For more information, see:
▪ TC/LINK-LN Technical Manual, version 2.07.00 edition 14
Chapter Hints / Troubleshooting - Some Messages Cannot be Processed
TCfW: Closing Application While Minimized
Closing the TCfW Communication Server Client from the taskbar while the application
window is minimized can last multiple seconds. (SPR00176265)
Workaround: Close TCfW while its window is displayed to avoid the delay.
TCfW: Erratic Mouse Scrolling
Known Issues
Using the mouse wheel to scroll through the inbox or outbox of TCfW Communication Server
Client produces erratic results. (SPR00176327)
Workaround: Use the scroll bar or keyboard for scrolling.
TCfW: Image Preview and Right-To-Left Script
In TCfW, the image preview is always aligned to the left. Text blocks which have right-to-left
order activated correctly align to the right side in text mode. However, the image preview is
not correct, the text blocks align to the left. (SPR00122502)
TCfW: Opening RTF Attachments Occasionally Fails
Opening RTF attachments in TCfW sometimes fails with the error: The process cannot
access the file because it is being used by another process. Another attempt to
open the attachment succeeds without any errors. (SPR00120108)
Workaround: Do not use Microsoft OLE control for displaying and editing attachments.
Add the extension RTF to the registry value HKxx\SOFTWARE\TOPCALL\TCFW\WorkStation
\ShellExecuteExtensions.
TCfW: PDF Attachments on Windows 8
In TCfW Communication Server Client installed on Windows 8, by default, PDF attachments
are opened with the built-in PDF viewer. Closing the PDF document does not close the OLE
link of the message.
Workaround: Use an external PDF viewer, not the built-in one.
