Features
This section contains information about features provided with the Ascent 7.0 Release Script for
IBM Content Manager for iSeries.
Ascent Capture Value {Document GUID}
The Ascent Capture Value {Document GUID} is a new value that can be used for index fields and
release values. This Ascent Capture value is a type of document ID that is unique across the
central site and all remote sites that comprise of an Ascent Capture installation. The Document
GUID is the concatenation of the Batch GUID and the document ID number. For example, a Batch
GUID of {D3C58EE2-5627-443b-BBFA-EE7A5790482A} and a document ID of 123 will yield
{D3C58EE2-5627-443b-BBFA-EE7A5790482A} 123 as the Document GUID.
Workflow / Workbasket Support

format for choosing the folder to select or create at release setup. The folders you define will be
used for releasing documents into the DB2 Content Manager for iSeries system.
Rollback Supported
The Ascent 7.0 Release Script for IBM Content Manager for iSeries will remove any partially
released documents and folders if an error occurs during release. Rollback will occur when the
next batch is processed and not at the moment of failure. In addition, folders will only be rolled

dialog box during the release script setup, the Ascent Capture Content Manager for
iSeries Login dialog box will appear the first time you open the Release module. Enter
your user name and password and click OK. If you click Cancel, the release script will use
the user ID and password that was entered during release script setup.
2Once your batch is released, it will be removed from Ascent Capture. If any documents or
pages are rejected, the batch will be routed to the Ascent Capture Quality Control queue.
If successful, each document’s item ID number will display in the Release module event
log.
3When you want to exit the Release module, select Batch | Exit from the Release module’s
menu bar.

Known Problems
This section contains information about known problems with the Ascent 7.0 Release Script for
IBM Content Manager for iSeries.
Problems When Installing on Windows XP
If you are installing the Ascent 7.0 Release Script for IBM Content Manager for iSeries on a
Windows XP Professional workstation and you specify a mapped drive, you will receive the
following error message. (SPR 31250)
Error 1904. Module <mapped drive> failed to register. HRESULT -2147467259. Contact
your support personnel.
Workaround: The error message is incorrect and can simply be ignored. Click the Ignore button
and the release script will successfully install and register the release script.
If you click the Abort button, the installation will end. If you click the Retry button, you will
receive the above error message again.
Problems When Uninstalling the Release Script
If you click the Cancel button while you are uninstalling the release script, all the release script
original files will remain properly installed on the system. However, depending on the point
during the uninstallation that the Cancel button is clicked, the release script may be un-registered.
In such a case, once you attempt to login to the release script, login will fail. (SPR 31221)
Workaround: If this problem occurs, run Repair. Refer to Repairing the Release Script on page 11
for more information. Alternatively, you can re-register the release script in the Release Script
Manager.
Releasing Date Fields
When releasing Date fields for text constants, you must make certain that you specify the date
format as YY/MM/DD, where YY is the year, MM is the month, and DD is the day of the month. If
you enter a different format, the release setup will not notice that you entered an invalid format
for a text constant and will allow you to save your settings. The Content Manager release script is
not able to validate the Date fields at release when an invalid format is used. The documents will
release successfully.
Workaround: You can write a custom validation script that checks the date format when batches
are processed with the Validation module, and adjust the format as necessary.
Index Values With Apostrophes
If you use an Ascent Capture Index value that contains an apostrophe (') for a folder, you will
receive the following error message at release. (SPR 17622)
DGL0394A: Error in ::SimLibSearch [FRN=6297, ExtRC=0] (STATE) : 0]
Workaround: Edit the Index value to remove the apostrophe.

Client Fails With "-2147417848 Method '~' object '~' failed" Error
You may receive an error if you attempt to release a folder when some index class key fields have
at least one space or number, and is 21 characters in length or greater. The error only appears
when the key field is part of the folder's properties. (SPR 28658)
Workaround: To avoid this problem, make sure the index class is part of the document's
properties and not the folder's properties. In addition, make sure that the index class is 20
characters in length or less.
Viewing eDocuments with TIFF Images
If you attempt to view a document that contains eDocuments and TIFF images in the Content
Manager viewer, you will only be able to see the first text file. The viewer will not allow you to
browse or view the remaining files. This is because Content Manager imports the text files with a
Content Class. (SPR 29477)
Workaround: To view the remaining text and/or image files, you will need to export the
document.
Releasing Folders With Subfolders
If you attempt to create a new subfolder to an existing folder structure (that composes of an
existing subfolder and the subfolder contains an existing folder), release will fail. The folder
structure would look like the following in this unique case. (SPR 28785)
Folder1 (existing)
Subfolder2 (existing)
Subfolder3 (existing)
Subfolder2b (new)
Release will fail with the following error message:
Failed to create Document. Folder creation failed.
One of the following cases would apply for the new subfolder to release successfully:
The entire folder hierarchy is new.
The existing root level folder contains no existing subfolders.
The existing root level folder contains one or more existing subfolders and those
subfolders do not contain folder(s).
Workaround: Manually create the subfolder.
Key Fields
If the content of a key field is linked to an Ascent Capture Index field or Batch field that is left
blank at release, the release script will find the first matching folder based on the other key fields
that actually contain data. (SPR 29113)
Workaround: Edit the key field and make sure the Ascent Capture Index fields or Batch fields are
not left blank.

Maximum Length for Key Fields
You cannot release folders when the key field value exceeds the maximum length. The maximum
length for a key field value is 40 characters. (SPR 28562)
Cannot create document. Document creation failed.
Workaround: Make sure that the key field value does not exceed 40 characters.
German Environment
Due to a limitation with the release script in a German environment, you will not be able to
directly view a workflow on the Document Routing tab. Therefore, you will not be able to route
your released documents to a workflow. However, you can route your released documents to a
workbasket. (SPR 32096)
Workaround: Use the DB2 Content Manager for iSeries workbasket to route your released
documents.
Release Module Freezes
If your batch contains an error and you release, the Ascent Capture Release module may freeze.
Notice that this is a rare circumstance and usually happens when creating new folders, and
releasing a batch that contains an error. (SPR 32082)
Workaround: If the Ascent Capture Release module freezes during release, you will need to do
the following:
1Use the Task Manager to end the Ascent Capture Release module process.
2Start the Ascent Capture Batch Manager module and rollback the batch.
3Process your batch again to release it.
Table Fields
You cannot use table fields with multiple rows for integer key field types. If you attempt to add
another row to your table field, release will fail with the following error message. (SPR 00016138)
Cannot create document. Document creation failed.
Workaround: Use only one value in the table fields.

Appendix A – Permissions
This section identifies the required permission sets. If the user does not have the appropriate
permissions assigned, release will fail and the batch will be routed to the Ascent Capture Quality
Control queue.
Warning Documents and/or folders cannot be rolled back until the next batch is processed.
However, if a user attempts to release the next batch and does not have the appropriate
permissions, then rollback will not occur. No error messages will be generated.
