PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The K8 digital audio distribution system transports
professional quality audio across a facility over standard
category 5 cable. It can be used for simple point-to point
connections or can form a distribution backbone
for sending up to 16 audio channels to multiple remote
locations.
The K8-MI8 offers the ability to take 8 analog microphone
audio
signals and encode them onto the K8 system. Up to a
total of two K8-MI8 units may be stacked to provide a
total capacity of 16 audio channels on a single category
5 cable.
The system is fast to implement and requires no
configuration. It is easily connected together with up
to 200 meter lengths of category 5 cable. For advanced
applications the entire system may be controlled and
monitored from a single connection via RS-485 or
optionally with Ethernet or USB adaptors.
The K8 bus has a total analog in to analog out latency
of 0.5ms making it useable in live performance settings as
well as conference facilities and convention centers.

K8-MI8
8-CHANNEL ANALOG MICROPHONE INPUT TO K8 BUS
APPLICATIONS
Collect a set of microphones around a table for transport over a single Cat 5 cable back to the equipment room.
Transport microphone signals from conference rooms to a central digital signal processing rack handling multiple
rooms.
Send a remote microphone location up to 200 meters before refreshing the line without concern for induced noise or
ground loops.
Reconfigure facility use from a central location with remote microphone preamp control and remote front panel
lockouts through software.
Use in conjunction with K8-AESO16, 8 channel AES3 output device, and get the benefit of A/D conversion built into the
system.
Use the K8-MI8 as a microphone snake back to a broadcast truck and split the second K8 output leg to the house
mixing console.
For a simple voice reinforcement system, directly connect a K8-MI8 to K+H amplifiers or powered speakers for an
immediately working system without induced noise or ground loops.
Replace an existing failing tie line system by pulling a single Cat 5 in place of the old multipair microphone snake.
