KEY FEATURES TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Professional quality digital audio Puts 8 AES3 inputs, 16 audio channels onto the K8 bus Drives (2) 200 meter K8 cabling legs Low latency No software configuration required Remote control and monitoring Single cable solution Standard category 5 cabling
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The K8 digital audio distribution system transports professional quality audio across a facility over standard category 5 cable. It can be used for simple point-topoint connections or can form a distribution backbone for sending up to 16 audio channels to multiple remote locations.
The K8-AES16 offers the ability to take 8 stereo AES3 signals and encode them onto the K8 system. The K8AESI16 may also be stacked with an 8 audio channel K8 device to provide 8 channels of audio in each format chosen.
The system is fast to implement and requires no configuration. It is easily connected together with up to 200 meter lengths of category 5 cable. For advanced applications the entire system may be controlled and monitored from a single connection via RS-485 or optionally with Ethernet or USB adaptors.

K8-AESI16
16-CHANNEL LINE AUDIO INPUT TO K8 BUS
APPLICATIONS
For large paging and background music applications pull a single category 5 cable out to each remote amplifier location or daisy chain from one amplifier room to the next. All locations have access to 16 channels of digital audio without concern over ground loops or induced noise.
Use K8 as a mini snake for sending audio feeds from an auditorium out a remote broadcast truck.
Mount a K8 device in a cluster of powered speakers and drive the entire cluster with a single category 5 cable.
Use K8 as a digital snake between the mixing console and the amplifier racks. Put another K8 branch and output device on stage to drive the stage monitors.
Distribute central background music and paging out to individual venue systems in cruise ships, entertainment facilities, convention centers, schools and conference facilities.
ARCHITECT & ENGINEERING SPECS
The audio transport system shall carry 16 channels of digital audio integrated with bi-directional remote control and monitoring data over a single category 5 cable up to 200 meters in length without being actively refreshed. The digital audio format shall be uncompressed, 48kHz sampling rate, 24 bit quantization depth and shall have a total latency through the transport system of less than 0.5 milliseconds. The system shall pass audio when powered up with no software configuration required. The input to the digital audio system shall be via an 8 stereo channel AES3 standard digital audio input with XLR female connectors mounted in an EIA standard 1 unit rackmount case with universal voltage power supply. The signal to noise ratio of the system shall be greater than 100 dB and the audio input device shall drive 2 individual category 5 cables to a length of 200 meters. An RS-485 control port shall allow remote monitoring and control of all devices on a single K8 bus. Input sampling rates between 32 kHz and 192 kHz shall be accepted. The unit shall indicate an audio signal lock condition for each channel on the front panel. System status OK and device identification shall be shown with lighted indicators on the back panel. Termination of the digital audio and control lines shall be made with DIP switches on the rear panel. The AES3 digital audio input to the digital audio distribution system shall be K+H K8-AESI16.
