Dante is a low- latency multi- channel digital a udio networki ng technology dev eloped, patented
and license d by Audinate (audinate.com).

The Dante Br idge enables conne ction of a compu ter or IT system to a ran ge of products w hich
do not native ly support Dante.

The three p rimary uses fo r the Dante Bridge ar e:

• • D ante audio to AES3 conver sion with VNET TM control (for use wi th VNET2 equippe d

produc ts eg. TANNOY QFlex)

• • C onversion of Dante aud io to analogue audio (fo r connection to an y product with

When the Dan te Bridge is connec ted to a network o f VNET-equipp ed devices, all dev ices can be
controlled and monitored via a direct Ethernet connection from your PC.

Installation

Becaus e the Dante Bridge us es Ethernet, no dr ivers need to be ins talled. However, you wil l need
to instal l Audinate’s Dante Control ler PC softwa re to control the aud io routing and the Pod Ware
applicat ion to control and mo nitor VNET device s.

External Power Supply

This prod uct may be powered f rom a Power Over Ether net (PoE) Ethernet s witch.
However, if such a s witch is not availabl e, provision is made to po wer the unit from an e xternal
accessor y power supply via a c able with a 3.5 mm jack . One or two compati ble accessorie s
may be powere d from a single power s upply; either the A o r the B output may be us ed as they
are identical.

Connecting a Computer

You can connec t your computer to th e Dante Bridge in one of t wo ways:

• • B y direct connection from the Ethernet port of your computer to the Dante Bridge

• • B y connecting yo ur computer to an Ether net switch, and con necting the sa me switch

(or another sw itch on the same net work) to the Dante Br idge

Manual IP add ressing is not requ ired with the Dante B ridge. It is set by def ault to DHCP, so your
DHCP ser ver will automatic ally allocate the IP ad dress. If there is n o DHCP server, it will use
“zero cong ”. In eit her case, addres sing is fully automa tic. For more infor mation on this topi c,

PodWare Setup

The PodWare ap plication uses a d irect connec tion via Etherne t to communicate wit h the
connec ted devices via the D ante Bridge.

Using PodWare V5.6 8 or later, select and add t he Dante Bridge net work under the Ne tworks ->
Add Netw orks dialogue.

You can connec t multiple Dante br idges to PodWare via Eth ernet. The Brid ges will be
transpa rent to PodWare and the dev ices will appear und er the Dante Bridge n etwork in the
device tre e.

is not impor tant. The Link s ocket of the last d evice in the ’chain’ need n ot be connected .

there is no ne ed to make connect ions to the audio out s since audio will be de livered to the
device in di gital format. (It w ill be necessar y to select digi tal inputs on the de vice).

Audio Routing

The Dante Br idge can use one or t wo audio channels f rom the Dante strea m. Normally the unit
would be con gured to route cha nnels to Input 1 and Inpu t 2. Yo u may see an option to ro ute
to channels 3 a nd 4; however, these are not us ed in the product . Audio routing is acc omplished
using the Da nte Controller appl ication. You may nd it help ful to name all Dante dev ices to
clarify routing.

Rack Mounting

The Dante Br idge and accessor y power supply may be u sed free-st anding. If you wish to m ount
them in a 19-inc h rack, then the Acce ssory Mounti ng Kit may be used.

Please n ote that this pro duct generat es some heat, whi ch is normal. Howe ver, to
prevent ov erheating, all ow for a free ow of ai r around the uni t. Do not stack un its
on top of on e another.

To mount an Access ory in the Mounti ng Kit panel:

1. Remove the t wo mounting brac kets and Lexan blank ing sheet which ar e covering the
apert ure you wish to mount th e Accessory in, by re moving the two nut s. (Keep these and
the screws and washers).
