INSTALLATION DIMENSIONS (See Fig. I):
CONNECTING TO ELECTRICITY:
KitchenAid Compactors operate on regular
11 5-volt, 60 hertz A.C. electrical services to be
supplied by a LISTED 3-PRONG GROUNDING RECEPTACLE. The supply circuit should be protected by a 15 amp. fuse, or circuit breaker.
THE RECEPTACLE OUTLET MUST BE
GROUNDED:
The power cord on a KitchenAid Compactor is
provided with a 3-pronged grounding plug. The
third prong is designed to ground the cabinet electrically, thus eliminating the possibility of shocking the operator if an internal electrical malfunction should occur.
Fig. 1
It is essential that the electrical outlet into which
the 3-pronged power cord is inserted be properly
grounded. If this is in doubt, a competent electrician should be contacted to check the outlet.
To connect the compactor to electricity:
Place compactor in front of proposed under-
1.
counter location. Slide compactor sideways
with enough room to insert 3-pronged plug
into the 3-prong wall receptacle (in shaded
area of Fig. 2). Make certain that the cord is
secured in the clamp at top rear of unit.
NOTE:
els, you should do it prior to plugging the
compactor in. See the separate instruction
sheet included.
2. Turn key to “stop/lock” position.

3. Insert the 3-pronged plug into a 3-prong receptacle. If the wall receptacle is not of the
proper 3-prong grounding type, an electrician
should be consulted.
CAUTION: The use of an extension cord is not
recommended.
Slide compactor into cavity under counter.
DO NOT push the compactor against the plug
as damage to the receptacle and/or plug may
result.
Level the compactor by turning the leveling
feet (Fig. 3) as necessary. A minimum l/4”
(6 mm) clearance MUST BE MAINTAINED between compactor top and counter top for
service accessibility.
6. Check charcoal air filter for proper
installation.
For a few special installations where the leveling feet (Fig. 3) have been set to the low screwed-in position, and/or if the compactor is mounted on an extra thick shag or similar type carpet, the rubber kickboard molding (Fig. 3) might drag on the carpet when the drawer is opened. Should this happen, simply
remove the kickboard (Fig. 3) and cut the molding (Fig. 3) with a pair of scissors to suit your installation.
For conversion of a built-in model to a freestanding unit, a laminated wood top kit: KCLW-200, (Part #
4164800) is available from your KitchenAid dealer. Conversion instructions are furnished with the kit.
