MULTIMEDIACARD

Kingston’s MultiMediaCard makes your digital music
(MP3s), digital photos, and all other digital data more
portable than ever before. Based on nonvolatile
memory components and encased in a protective
molding, they do not require power to retain the
information stored on them. Since they are based on
solid-state components, they have no moving parts to
skip or break down, making them highly reliable.
Approximately the size of a postage stamp, Kingston’s
MultiMedia cards are fully compliant with industry
standards, Plug and Play compatible and come
standard with a 5 year warranty.

How MMC Works

The MMC standard provides an easy method for
quickly downloading and transferring files from your
computer or the Internet. By using a MMC Reader
(such as Kingston’s

FCR-U2MMC/SD or FCR-

U26/1

) it is also possible to upload files from your
MMC card to your computer. MMC is a popular
format for leading manufacturers of Digital devices.
Because of its small foot print, MMC makes it easy
for device manufacturers to integrate expansion
capability into ever smaller devices.

What is the Difference Between
MMC and SD?

SD is a second generation derivative of the MMC
standard. At the present time, MMC is the more
widely used format. SD cards are slightly thicker
than the original MMC cards. This means that most
devices designed to support SD are also backward
compatible to MMC cards, but devices designed only
for MMC will not support SD. To be certain, it is best
to refer to your user owner manual.
