How To Use Your
Kidde Extinguisher
Follow instructions shown on the
front label of your fire extinguisher.
After the fire is out and cooktop has
cooled, clean up dry chemical powder.
Special purpose kitchen range fire
extinguishers are recommended only
for cooking oil fires contained in cooking vessels such as pots, skillets and
griddles. Use the correct type ABC or
BC fire extinguishers for other common types of fire.
WARNING: Special use residential
kitchen range re extinguishers are
not suitable for applications requiring a Class K commercial sized re
extinguisher.
CAUTION: The agent contained in
this extinguisher is not toxic, but as
with any exposure to nuisance dusts,
may cause some temporary irritation.
Avoid inhaling the dry chemical agent.
In case of contact, ush aected area
with clean, cool water. If irritation
persists, contact a physician imme diately. Chemical name of agent is
printed on extinguisher label.

Mounting Your Extinguisher
Your extinguisher should be mounted
so that it is easy to reach and not hidden or obstructed.
Fasten the bracket that was supplied
with your fire extinguisher securely
to a wall stud. Install and secure fire
extinguisher properly into hanger.

Directions for Use:
Super heated cooking media containing animal or vegetable fats and oils
has the unique ability to retain heat
and re-flash after extinguishment. The
dry chemical formulation contained
within this fire extinguisher has the
ability to not only extinguish these
fires, but also mix with the hot combustible cooking media and form a blanket to inhibit potential re-flash when
properly applied.
• Pull and remove locking tab.
• Start 5ft back from stove top fire.
• Aim extinguisher into cooking vessel.
• Squeeze and fully depress operating lever to initiate extinguishing
agent discharge (approximate total
discharge time 8 to 12 seconds).
• Empty the entire contents of the
extinguisher. Sweep only as necessary to cover the inside of the
cooking vessel.
• IMMEDIATELY AFTER
DISCHARGING EXTINGUISHER,
TURN OFF APPLIANCE TO REMOVE
SOURCE OF HEAT.
• Once the extinguisher is empty,
evacuate the home and ensure the
fire department has been called.
• Never attempt to carry, move or
disturb the extinguishing agent
layer until it has properly cooled.
Cooking media can sometimes
retain enough heat to reignite for
up to 15 minutes.

• Hale y remueva la lengüeta de bloqueo.
• Comience a 5 pies del fuego de la
cocina.

palanca de operación para iniciar la
descarga del agente extintor (el tiempo
total de descarga aproximado es de 8 a

Which Extinguisher To Use
There are several different types of fire
extinguishers. Type ABC extinguishers
fight wood, paper and cloth fires, plus
flammable liquid and electrical fires.
Type BC extinguishers are for
flammable liquids and electrical fires.
Residential kitchen range fire extinguishers are for small contained cooking oil fires such as pots, skillets and
griddles. These are special use fire
extinguishers and are not identified
by a common fire class (ABC or BC).
To determine which class or special use
your extinguisher is designed to fight,
refer to the front extinguisher label.
Using the wrong extinguisher on a fire
could do more harm than good. Be
sure you understand which extinguisher
is appropriate for each class of fire.
For protection against ALL COMMON
CLASSES OF FIRES except kitchen
range fires, you must choose a type
ABC extinguisher.
Inspection And Maintenance
To insure that your fire extinguisher
will be ready when needed:
• Read and follow all instructions on
label and in owner’s manual.
• Inspect the extinguisher AT LEAST
once a month-more frequently
if exposed to weather or possible
tampering.
• Check that extinguisher is charged.
Pointer on pressure indicator MUST
be in green section. If pointer is in
red or white section, extinguisher
is NOT ready for use.
• Be sure the lock pin is firmly in place.
• Keep the extinguisher clean. Check
for dents, scratches, corrosion or any
other damage.
• Check the discharge nozzle.
Make sure it is clean and free
of obstructions.
DO NOT TEST BY PARTIALLY
DISCHARGING. LOSS OF
PRESSURE WILL OCCUR.
Twelve Year Limited Warranty
For twelve (12) years from date of
manufacture, KIDDE will repair or
replace this product, model RESSP to
the original owner free of charge, if
defective in material or workmanship.
This warranty does not apply to
damage resulting from accident,
alteration, abuse or failure to follow
instructions supplied.
KIDDE, at its option, may refund the
purchase price in lieu of replacement
or repair. ANY AND ALL IMPLIED
WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY
WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY
OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
PURPOSE SHALL BE LIMITED TO A
PERIOD OF SIX (6) YEARS FROM DATE
