to use your toaster
1 Move the browing control to the
desired setting. Use a low setting
for light toasting and for thin or dry bread. To increase the browning, gradually move the lever to the right towards the darkest setting .
2 Insert the bread, muffins, bagels
etc.
Your toaster is fitted with a sensor which detects when food is placed into the toaster and lowers the bread carriage automatically. Once lowered the cancel button indicator light will come on. At the completion of the toasting operation the toaster will make an audible noise and the carriage will rise automatically.
To stop toasting at any stage, press the cancel button .
Note
When toasting a single slice of bread, always place in the front slot as indicated by the symbol. Model TT980 series - make sure you position the slice on the right hand side of the slot to activate the bread carriage.
hints on using your toaster
Select a lower setting for light browning, for toasting one slice only or for dry bread.
When toasting a single slice of bread, you may notice a variation in toast colour from one side to the other - this is normal.
Dry/stale bread toasts more quickly than fresh bread and thinly sliced bread toasts more quickly than thickly sliced bread. Therefore the browning control should be set at a lower setting than usual.
For best results ensure that the bread slices are of an even thickness, freshness and size.
In order to achieve uniform browning we recommend you wait a minimum of 30 seconds between each toasting so that the control can automatically reset. Alternatively select a lower setting when additional toasting is carried out.
The warming rack can also be used as a toast rack, but take care not to get burnt if it is hot.
TT980 series only
When toasting two slices of bread, place one in each slot (see illustration below).
safety
Burnt food can catch fire, so:
never leave your toaster on unattended;
keep your toaster away from anything (eg curtains) that could catch fire;
set the browning control lower for thin or dry bread;
never warm food with a topping or filling (eg pizza): if it drips into the toaster, it could catch fire.
To avoid electric shocks, never:
let the toaster, cord or plug get wet; or
put your hand or anything metal, eg a knife or foil, into the toaster.
Always unplug the toaster when not in use, before cleaning or attempting to clear jammed bread.
Never cover your toaster with a plate or anything else - it could overheat and catch fire. For the same reason, never completely cover the warming rack.
When using the warming rack, never wrap the food up. Plastic wrapping will melt and could catch fire. Foil will reflect heat, damaging the toaster.
Never let the cord hang down where a child could grab it. Excess cord should only be stored in the cord storage device.
Don’t let infirm people use the machine without supervision.
Keep children away from the machine and never let the cord hang down where a child could grab it.
Never touch hot surfaces especially the metal top area and the warming rack. If you're using the toast slots, remove the warming rack so it can't burn you.
Never use an unauthorised attachment.
Never use a damaged toaster. Get it checked or repaired: see 'Service'.
This toaster is for domestic use only.
Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
