Flushing the coffee maker with clean water.
1. Remove all packaging
2. Fill the tank with water up to 0.7 litre
3. Before plugging into the power supply, make sure that switch A is in the lower position and switch C is in the central position.
4. Plug into the power supply and lift switch A into the upper position ( ). The indicator light B will glow indicating that the power is on. The first time the unit is used, place a cup on the removable grill and put switch C in the coffee position ( ). Wait until water comes out of the filter holder housing and allow at least a cupful of water to drain out. Once finished move switch C into the central position and wait until the status light D goes off (water may continue to drip from the filter holder housing). The unit is now ready to make coffee.
To make a cup of Espresso
1. Place the thermocream disc into the filter holder. Add the thermocream filter making sure that the locating pips in the filter fit into the slots on the filter holder. Whilst the machine is switched on, fit the filter holder by lifting into its housing and turning anti clockwise 40-45 degrees as far as possible, without over-tightening. Allow the filter holder to warm up for one minute, then remove.
2. Place one measure of espresso coffee into the filter and press down lightly using the presser (two measures for two cups).
3. Wait until the status light D goes off.
4. Place a cup under the filter holder (it is advisable to pre-warm the cup on the cup warming area).
5. Position switch C to the coffee brewing symbol ( ). Coffee will flow into the cup. To stop the flow, return the switch back to the central position.
NEVER REMOVE THE FILTER HOLDER WHILE THE COFFEE BREWING/STEAM SWITCH ( C ) IS ON.
To froth milk to make a Cappucino.
1. Position switch C to the steam position ( ) and wait until the status light D goes off indicating that the unit is ready to make Cappucino.
WARNING If small spurts of steam or water come out of the filter holder while waiting for the steam, this is normal.
2. Position a cup under the Maxi Cappucino device then pull the steam lever down; at first a little water will come out immediately followed by a strong jet of steam. Lift the lever and stop the steam.
3. Immerse the end of the Maxi Cappucino device into the bottom of a jug or cup half filled with milk. Lower the lever and allow the milk to froth.
During these operations the status light D will go on and off at regular intervals indicating that the boiler is keeping the water required for the steam supply at the right temperature. It is best to start steam only when the status light D is off.
When making esspresso after having used the frothing function, allow the unit to cool to just below 100°C.
