SAFETY GUIDES / SPECIFICATIONS

Y Be sure to follow all guides in this manual when connecting and using the ñlter, and when servicing the inner cartridge.
▼ Follow state and local plumbing
codes as you install the filter. Use their codes if they are different than guides in this manual.
Y Use the filter on a potable, safeto-drink, house water supply only. The activated carbon cartridge will
not purify water, or make it safe to drink. Do not use with water that
is microbiologically unsafe or of
unknown quality without ade quate disinfection before or after the system.
Y Do not set the water filter near the edge of the counter where it
could fall to the floor and break.
Y The water filter works on water
pressures of 40 psi (minimum) to 100 psi (maximum). If your house water pressure is over the maxi mum, install a pressure reducing valve in the water supply pipe to the water filter.

WHAT YOUR COUNTERTOP FILTER WILL DO

Activated carbon is a mineral which has the ability to adsorb and hold tastes and odors. It is used to reduce many different bad tastes and/or odors from drinking water. Some of these are chlorine, metallic, marshy or swampy tastes/odors. Small amounts of hydrogen sulfide (no ticeable as "rotten egg" odor) may be reduced by taste and odor filters for a short time, quickly exhausting the carbon media. Consult your
Sears store for proper continuous
treatment.
