TO REDUCE THE R_SK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING:
1. Use this unit only in the manner intended by the manufac- turer. If you have questions, contact the manufacturer at
the address listed in the warranty.
2. Before servicing or cleaning unit, switch power off at service
panel and lock the service disconnecting means to prevent power from being switched on accidentally. When the
service disconnecting means cannot be locked, securely fasten a prominent warning device, such as a tag, to the
service panel.
3. Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by a qualified person(s)in accordance with all applicable codes
and standards, including fire-rated codes and standards.
4. Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel
burning equipment to prevent backdrafting, re!low the heating equipment manufacturer's guideline and safety
standards such as those published by the National Fire
Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society
for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers
(ASHRAE), and the local code authorities.
5. When cutting or drilling into watl or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other hidden utilities.
6. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not use this
range hood with an additional speed controi device.
7. Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.
8. To reduce the risk of fire, use only metal ductwork.
9. This unit must be grounded.
TO REDUCE THE R_SK OF A RANGE TOP GREASE RRE:
1. Never leave surface units unattended at high settings.
Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite. Heat oils slowly on low or medium settings.
2. Always turn hood ON when cooking at high heat or when cooking flaming foods.
3. Clean ventilating fans frequently. Grease should not be allowed to accumulate on fan or filter.
4. Use proper pan size. Always use cookware appropriate for the size of the surface element. 2

TO REDUCE THE R_SK OF INJURY TO PERSONS IN THE EVENT OF A RANGE TOP GREASE FIRE, OBSERVE THE
FOLLOWING:*
1. SMOTHER FLAMES with a close-fitting lid, cookie sheet, or metal tray, then turn off the burner. BE CAREFUL TO
PREVENT BURNS. If the flames do not go out immediately, EVACUATE AND CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
2. NEVER PICK UPA FLAMING PAN - You may be burned.
3. DO NOT USE WATER, including wet dishcloths or towels
- a violent steam explosion will result.
4. Use an extinguisher ONLY if: A. You know you have a Class ABC extinguisher and you
already know how to operate it.
B. The fire is small and contained in the area where it
started. C. The fire department is being called. D. You can fight the fire with your back to an exit.

CAUTION
1. For general ventilating use only. Do not use to exhaust hazardous or explosive materials and vapors.
2. To avoid motor bearing damage and noisy and/or unbalanced impellers, keep drywall spray, construction
dust, etc. off power unit.
3. For best capture of cooking impurities, your range hood should be mounted so that the top of the hood is 24-30"
above the cooking surface.
4. Use only with range hood cord-connection kits that have been investigated and found acceptable for use with this
model range hood.
5. Please read specification label on product for further information and requirements.

or retaimer and attach them to the aluminum mesh fimter.

Fan
The 4-position switch (on the left) controls the fan. The fan is OFF when the switch is rotated fully counterclockwise. Rotate
the switch clockwise to turn the fan ON to HiGH speed, to MEDIUM speed, and to LOW speed.

Aluminum mesh filter Clean frequently using hot water and a mild detergent or in
your dishwasher. The aluminum mesh filter should be washed approximately every month depending on the amount of us-
age. Wash more often if your cooking style generates greater grease - like frying foods or wok cooking.
Nonoducted filter (Clean Cooking hoods onmy)
(available separately - see page 4)
Clean filter surfaces frequently with a damp ctoth and a mJId detergent. DO NOT immerse fiIter in water or put in dish-
washer. The speciaJ "Clean Sense" feature indicates when the filter is to be repIaced. The biue and yel!ow strips will bIend to
green when it is time to change the filter. The "CIean Sense" feature works best when facing toward the cooking surface.
Light
The 3-position switch (on the right) controJs the light. The Iight is OFF when the switch is rotated fully counterclockwise. Ro-
tate the switch clockwise to turn the light ON for normal light- ing, and to use as a night light.
Painted hood surfaces Wiping reguIarly with mild soap/detergent and warm water
should protect painted hood surfaces. Be cautious about us- ing "New and improved" cleaning agents. Your hood is installed
over hot cooking equipment. Most chemicaIs found in clean- ing agents react with heat to loosen paint.
StainJess eteemhood surfaces StainJess steel hoods should be washed regularly with a clean
cloth, warm water and mild soap or dish detergent. Clean in the direction of the polish Iines. Rinse well with clear water
and wipe dry immediately. You may wish to apply light oil used for furniture polishing to emphasize it's bright finish.
Fan aseembBy Fan bIade can be cJeaned with a damp cJoth and mild deter-
gent. Use care when cteaning fan blade - it must not become bent or misa[igned. DO NOTALLOW WATER TO ENTER MO- TOR. Make sure alI surfaces are completely dry before re-
installing filters and restoring power. Motor is permanentJy Jubricated. Do not oJJor disassembJe

1. Determine whether hood will discharge vertically (3¼" x 10" or 7" Round), horizontally (3V4"x 10" only) ornon-ducted.
For vertical or horizontal discharge, run ductwork between
the hood location and a roof cap or wall cap.
For best results, use a minimum number of transitions and
elbows.

7. if using 31/4'' x 10" rectangular ductwork: Attach 31A'' x 10" Damper/Duct Connector over
knockout opening. Make sure damper Pivot is nearest to W/Back Edge_ of hood. Remove any shipping tape
from damper flap. tf using 7" round ductwork:
Re-install the 7qnch Round Adapter Plate removed in
Step 5.
