2011 KX85 II
KX85 II For the growing, young rider ready to step it up to the next level or slightly older beginners looking to start racing, the Kawasaki KX85 is a youth racer’s dream. Powered by a liquidcooled, two-stroke, single-cylinder 84.6 cm³ engine that generates race-winning power, the KX85 is packed with hightech features such as an electrofusion-coated cylinder with a narrow squish band and large-volume combustion chamber to boost top-end power.
High-Performance 2-Stroke Engine
• Lightweight ywheel with rare-earth magnets enhances low-end engine response.
• The bridges between the intake and exhaust ports are machine nished to resist seizure.
• groove on the exhaust pipe makes O-ring installation easy and is more durable.
• The cylinder head has a narrow squish band and more volume for more top-end power.
• Crankshaft design reduces turbulence in the crankcase and increases primary compression. The thrust washers sit at against the crank webs, instead of on raised bosses.
• The exhaust port window is designed to boost port velocity and the outlet increases ow for more mid-range and top-end power.
• The piston has four lubricating holes at the wrist pin for added durability.
• Carbon Fibre reeds aid throttle response. The direction of the bre is at a 45° angle to tune the exibility of the reeds for precise response.
Digital Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI)
• Digital ECU precisely controls timing, no matter how fast the rpm changes.
Air Box
• The right side of the airbox is cut back to increase airow and draw air from behind the number plate as well as below the seat.
• A large diameter boot from the airbox to the carburetor improves airow.
High Tensile Steel Perimeter Frame
• The gas tank is positioned to improve handling and lower the center of gravity.
• Wide footpegs for excellent control. Made of cast steel for strength, and use a 10mm pivot for durability.
Uni-Trak Rear Suspension
• Rear suspension settings provide a progressive ride to better resist bottoming and accommodate larger, more aggressive riders.
36mm Inverted Cartridge Fork
• Front fork settings provide a progressive ride to better resist bottoming and t larger and more aggressive riders.
• Inverted forks are more rigid to provide better steering response and control.
• Compression damping is 16-way adjustable and the cartridge design means better action.
• The aluminum upper fork tubes measure 49.5mm in diameter for ex free performance.
Kawasaki Integrated Power Valve System
The KIPS system varies exhaust port height for increased horsepower and torque.
• Breather in KIPS cover relieves exhaust pressure for more precise KIPS valve action and improved high rpm performance.
• KIPS lever stopper spring absorbs governor “over stroke” for added durability.
• The KIPS governor has a long stroke to open the cylinder valves more fully. A governor spring and 8 mm bearing boss aid durability.
6-Speed Transmission
• Bushings in 2nd-4th gears on the output shaft and 5th and 6th gear on the transmission input shaft add durability.
• The ends of the shift forks are hard-chrome nished for durability.
Clutch
• Thick base at the clutch housing ngers for increased durability. The right hand engine cover provides a separate clutch cover for quick servicing without removing the water pump.
• The clutch lever and perch are the same as the KX125 / KX250.
Keihin PWK28 Carburetor
• The crescent shaped slide enables the needle to sit closer to the intake ports for quick throttle response.
• Large bores in the front and back of the carburetor and a smooth shape boost ow for more mid-range and top-end power.
Front and Rear Disc Brakes
• The brake rotors use shouldered hex bolts instead of countersunk screws for easier maintenance.
• The forged aluminum rear brake pedal uses two recessed O-rings instead of seals for improved sealing.
Aluminum Rims
• Aluminum rims reduce unsprung weight and their strength adds durability.
• Rims nished in black to enhance the styling like the larger KX models
Detail Features
• Square inset nuts on the fuel tank provide secure mounting for the shrouds and seat base.
• A shroud on the left side of the bike looks like the big KXs and helps cool the igniter and engine. A single radiator resides on the right side.
• An extended fuel petcock lever is easier to use.
Optional Parts
• Optional parts include, various carburettor jets, front and rear springs, rear sprockets and wet weather brake discs. Authentic Kawasaki Accessories
