1: Mount door closer unit on structural member of door jamb, as low as practical. Fasten with 3/8” diameter bolts.

GEAR
3: A) Wind unit by gripping closer arm firmly and pulling beyond 90°. With your other hand, engage the winding pawl into the gear. B) After winding pawl is engaged, carefully relax force on closer arm to fully lock pawl in place. C) Pull out stop pin and bring closer arm back towards door. Release the stop pin and move arm outward until pin engages the gear again. D) Repeat above steps to increase tension further. After last adjustment reaches desired closing force, return the winding pawl to its fully disengaged position as shown above. DO NOT position yourself between arm and door. DO NOT wind unit more than 14 notches, further winding will damage unit, voiding the warranty.
4: After winding to desired tension, install locking pin into outer hole of guide assembly, and drive into place. DO NOT remove locking pin after installation. This feature is to reduce possible misuse of this unit.
For LEFT HAND DOOR, mount unit upside down on lower left hand door jamb, as shown here, following the same installation procedure.

With pawl engaged, disengage stop pin, pull arm to maximum, and engage stop pin. Step 3: While firmly holding closer arm, release winding pawl and carefully allow closer arm to unwind tension. Reset winding pawl into gear after maximum closer arm travel, and disengage stop pin. Repeat until all closer arm tension is released.
