Die KARL STORZ Optiken sind mit allen von KARL STORZ vertriebenen Lichtquellen und Lichtleitkabeln kompatibel.

All essential details of the equipment and all actions required on your part are clearly presented and explained. We thus ask that you read this manual carefully before proceeding to work with the instrument. Keep this manual available for ready reference.

The recommended testing and preparation methods for telescopes are described in this manual.

KARL STORZ telescopes are compatible with all light sources and fiber optic light cables sold by KARL STORZ.

Stablinsen-Optiken sind wiederverwendbar und bestehen aus einem Okularteil, einem Anschluß für Lichtleiter mit aufgeschraubten Adaptern für die Lichtleiter anderer Hersteller und einem Hüllrohr aus rostfreiem Werkstoff, welches das Stablinsen-System sowie einen eingebauten Fiberglas-Lichtleiter umschließt.

-Optiken wurden so konstruiert, daß die Belastung des Patienten möglichst gering gehalten wird. Sie bewähren sich jährlich in Hunderttausenden von Fällen.

-Optiken sind allerdings sehr viel empfindlicher als die normalerweise von einem Mediziner verwendeten Instrumente. Sie müssen deshalb mit Sorgfalt behandelt werden und vor und nach jeder Anwendung am Patienten auf korrekte Funktion bzw. auf Anzeichen einer Beschädigung geprüft werden. Unsachgemäße Handhabung und Anwendung kann zu Verletzungen des Gewebes, Infektionen oder Instrumentenbrüchen führen.

rod-lens telescopes are reusable and consist of an eyepiece lens, a connection for fiber optic light cables with screw-on adapters for other makes of fiber optic light cables and a jacket tube made of a non-corrosive material, which encloses the rod-lens system and a built-in fiber optic light carrier.

telescopes are designed to minimize patient trauma as much as possible. They are used in hundreds of thousands of cases annually with great benefit to patients.

However, these

telescopes are more delicate than the instruments normally used by surgeons.

They must be handled with care, be inspected upon removal from the patient for any sign of damage, and be inspected before the next case to be certain that they were properly handled between cases and are functioning properly. Failure to properly maintain and use these instruments may result in trauma to delicate tissues, perforation, infection or breakage of the instruments which can produce foreign bodies.

Los telescopios de lentes cilíndricas son reutilizables y se componen de una pieza ocular, una conexión para el portaluz con adaptadores de rosca para portaluces de otros fabricantes y un tubo envolvente de material inoxidable, en el que se encuentra el sistema de lentes cilíndricas, así como un portaluz incorporado de fibra de vidrio.

To test the image quality, the telescope should be turned slowly while looking through it. If the image is completely or partially defective, either the rod-lens system in the jacket tube has broken or the lens in the eyepiece is defective. In either case, the telescope must be replaced.

A cloudy or spotty image may be caused by moisture or disinfectant residue on the optical end faces.

Note: When looking through telescopes, the image appears yellowish. This effect is normal, caused by the use of special filters.

● Never handle the distal end alone. Never bend the stainless steel shaft. This could lead to breaks or cracks in the rod-lens system.

● Handle the telescope with care. Hard knocks, particularly at the distal end, may result in damage or cracks in the telescope and allow liquid, steam and other material to penetrate. If so, the damage will appear as a foggy and/ or unclear visual area.

● When cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing telescopes, it is recommended that they be handled separately from other instruments. This prevents the telescopes from being damaged by other instruments (see "Accessories").

Protective cases are available in various lengths for suitable for storage, transport and sterilization (see "Accessories").

Como todos los instrumentos ópticos, el telescopio es una pieza muy delicada del equipamiento endoscópico. Para garantizar una calidad duradera del telescopio, deben observarse imprescindiblemente las siguientes indicaciones:

● A fin de evitar roturas, los telescopios deben sostenerse siempre por la pieza ocular, nunca sostenerlos únicamente por el extremo distal.

● No curvar nunca el tubo envolvente. Esto puede ocasionar roturas o grietas en el sistema de lentes cilíndricas.

● Depositar los telescopios cuidadosamente. Los golpes fuertes, sobre todo en el extremo distal, pueden ocasionar deterioros o grietas en el revestimiento y permitir así el ingreso de líquido, vapor, etc. Ello provoca sectores de imagen turbios y/o borrosos.

● Al guardar, limpiar y esterilizar los telescopios, tener siempre en cuenta que los mismos no puedan ser deteriorados por otros instrumentos. Por ello, lo mejor es guardar separadamente los telescopios o emplear recipientes donde los mismos queden bien sujetos (véase Accesorios).

Para los telescopios se dispone de fundas protectoras de diferentes longitudes, las cuales son adecuadas tanto para el almacenamiento y transporte, como para la esterilización (véase Accesorios).

Nota: No seguir utilizando el telescopio si se comprueban deterioros evidentes. Los telescopios han de reemplazarse cuando la imagen es borrosa, no hay imagen o sólo se ven partes de la misma.

Solutions with a strongly acidic or alkalinic pH are not recommended. Follow solution manufacturer instructions, paying close attention to the mixing ratio and immersion time. Advertencia: Al preparar y aplicar soluciones desinfectantes hay que cumplir estrictamente las instrucciones del fabricante en cuanto a relación de mezcla de productos y duración del tratamiento.
