REPROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS FOR C-MAC® VIDEO LARYNGOSCOPE
DISASSEMBLY AND TRANSPORTING:
STEP 1: Unplug the electronics module
from the monitor.
STEP 1: Before cleaning, attach
cleaning cap to the pin post of the
blade and module.*
* ATTENTION: Failure to attach cleaning cap may cause disruption in system operation or damage.
STEP 2: Prepare enzymatic detergent
per manufacturer’s instructions. Place
blade and electronic module in basin as
shown. Keep immersed for a minimum
of 5 minutes.
STEP 2: Remove the electronics
module from the video laryngoscope
handle. Press down and push up
on module.
STEP 3: Wipe blade and electronic
module thoroughly with cloth, soft
brush, or sponge.
CLEANING:
STEP 4: Completely immerse in a
large volume of demineralized/distilled
water. Keep immersed for a minimum
of 1 minute, three times for a total of 3
immersion rinses. Discard the water after
each rinse, as it will be contaminated
with the disinfectant solution.
STEP 3: Place blade and electronic
module in biohazard bag for transportation or appropriate covered container as
specied by your facility.
STEP 5: Dry the blade and electronic
module with a lint free soft cloth or
ltered compressed air (<5 psi) before
high-level disinfection or sterilization.
HIGH-LEVEL DISINFECTION:
KARL STORZ video laryngoscope blades can be chemically disinfected using a high-level disinfection solution containing a 2.4% concentration of glutaraldehyde (e.g., Cidex®, a 14-day glutaraldehyde solution) or 0.55% ortho-phthalaldehyde (e.g. CIDEX® OPA, a 14-day solution). For high-level disinfection, prepare the solution per manufacturer’s instructions. The video laryngoscope may also be reprocessed with automated high-level disinfection using STERIS Reliance
EPS®. Please consult the manufacturer’s instructions for use for the STERIS Reliance EPS®.
ATTENTION: Glutaraldeyhyde solutions with higher than 2.4% concentration should be avoided.
Make sure the cleaning
cap is still on!
STEP 1: Completely immerse the video
laryngoscope in the solution. Soak per
manufacturer’s instructions. (Minimum
of 12 minutes for CIDEX® OPA and
minimum of 45 minutes for CIDEX®)
STEP 2: Completely immerse in a
large volume of demineralized/distilled
water. Keep immersed for a minimum
of 1 minute, three times for a total of 3
immersion rinses. Discard the water after
each rinse, as it will be contaminated
with the disinfectant solution.
STEP 3: Dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.
STEP 4: Remove cleaning cap and
allow to air dry for at least 10 minutes.
STEP 5: Use ltered or oil-free,
compressed air (<5 psi) to dry
electrical connector if needed.
STERILIZATION:
The KARL STORZ video laryngoscope may also be sterilized using STERIS Amsco® V-PRO™ systems, STERRAD® (100S, NX™, 100NX™) Sterilization systems, and Ethylene Oxide Gas. Please consult the General Reprocessing Instructions
for KARL STORZ Products for validated parameters for each sterilization methods.
CAUTION: The C-MAC® Video Laryngoscope is NOT autoclavable. Steam sterilization of all components of this device will result in irreparable damage.
