Um Schäden bei der Aufbereitung zu vermeiden, wird hier eine Hilfestellung zur Demontage, Rei ni gung, Desinfektion, Sterilisation und Montage der Fiberskope von KARL STORZ gegeben. Lesen Sie deshalb diese Anleitung sorgfältig und be wahren sie zum etwaigen Nachlesen auf.

. The fiberscopes are sensitive precision instruments which require particular care during preparation. To prevent damage during preparation, support is provided here for disassembly, cleaning, sterilization and assembly of the KARL STORZ fiberscopes. For this reason, read these instructions carefully and keep them as a ready reference.

Bitte lesen Sie diese Sicherheitshinweise vor der Benutzung des Instrumentes aufmerksam durch. Machen Sie sich vor der ersten Anwen dung des Instrumentes am Patienten unbedingt mit der Funktionsweise und Bedienung des Instrumentes vertraut.

Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung

Fiberskope werden in der diagnostischen und operativen Endoskopie verwendet. Sie dürfen nur durch entsprechend ausgebildetes und qualifiziertes Fachpersonal eingesetzt werden.

Indikationen: Untersuchung, Diagnose und/oder Therapie in Verbindung mit endosko pischem Zubehör in verschiedenen medizinischen Fachbereichen.

Kontraindikationen: Es sind keine Kontraindi kationen bekannt, die sich direkt auf das Produkt beziehen. Das Fiberskop darf nicht angewendet werden, wenn nach Meinung eines er fahrenen Arztes eine solche Anwendung eine Gefährdung des Patienten hervorrufen würde, z. Qualifikation des Anwenders

Die KARL STORZ Fiberskope dürfen nur von Personen eingesetzt werden, die über eine entsprechende medizinische Qualifikation verfügen und mit der Technik der Endoskopie vertraut sind.

Die in dieser Anleitung gegebenen Hinweise dienen lediglich der korrekten Handhabung, Reinigung, Desinfektion und Sterilisation der Fiberskope. Sie sind nicht zur Einführung in die Technik der Endoskopie geeignet.

Sicherheitsmaßnahmen beim Einsatz der Fiberskope

Der Einsatz der Fiberskope muß in Übereinstimmung mit den für endoskopische Verfahren anerkannten medizinischen Regeln und Verfahrensweisen der Endoskopie erfolgen.

Intended Use

Fiberscopes are used in diagnostic and surgical endoscopy. They must only be used by appropriately trained and qualified technical staff.

Indications: Examination, diagnosis and/or ther apy in conjunction with endoscopic accessories in various medical fields.

Contraindications: No contraindications are known which directly relate to the product. The fiberscope must not be used if, in the opinion of a qualified physician, such an application would endanger the patient, e.g. due to the patient's general condition, or if the endoscopic method as such is contraindicated.

User qualification

KARL STORZ fiberscopes may only be used by persons with an appropriate medical qualification and who are acquainted with the endoscopic technique.

The information given in these instructions only serves to instruct in the correct handling, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of the fiberscopes. It is not intended as an introduction to the endoscopic technique.

Safety precautions when using the fiberscopes

Fiberscopes must be used according to the medical rules and procedures of endoscopy recognized for this method.

Empleo previsto

Indicaciones: Exploración, diagnosis y/o terapia en combinación con accesorios endoscópicos en diversas áreas médicas.

Contraindicaciones: No se conocen contraindicaciones que estén directamente relacionadas con el producto. El fibroscopio no ha de ser utilizado cuando, según la opinión de un médico cualificado, una aplicación de este tipo pueda representar un peligro para el paciente, p. ej., de bido al estado general del paciente, o cuando el método endoscópico en sí está contraindicado.

Cualificación del usuario

Los fibroscopios de KARL STORZ sólo pueden ser utilizados por personal que cuente con la cualificación médica correspondiente y haya sido instruído en las técnicas de la endoscopia.

Warnung: Falls während einer Anwendung am Patient eine Funktionsstörung auftreten sollte, die Anwendung sofort abbrechen. Die distale Spitze des Fiberskopes in die neutrale, nicht abgewinkelte Position bringen und das Fiberskop langsam und vorsichtig aus dem Patienten entfernen.

must be released and the distal tip of the fiberscope put in the neutral, non-angled position. Otherwise the instrument may be damaged or the patient injured.

Warning: If a malfunction should occur during application on a patient, stop the application immediately. Place the distal tip of the fiberscope in the neutral, non-angled position and remove the fiberscope slowly and carefully from the patient.

Absaugventil montieren

Den Absaugventileinsatz  auf den Ventil stutzen  aufsetzen und drehen bis die seitli chen Noppen des Einsatzes über den Ausspa rungen des Stutzens liegen. Absaugventileinsatz durch leichten Druck im Ventilstutzen einrasten.

Initial operation

Warning: The fiberscope is delivered unsterilized, and must therefore be

cleaned, disinfected and (where applicable) sterilized prior to initial use and each subsequent reuse.

Fitting the suction valve

Place the suction valve insert  on the valve nozzle  and turn until the projections on the side of the insert lie over the nozzle recesses. Push gently until the suction valve insert clicks into the valve nozzle.

Place the disposable lip valve onto the instrument channel  and tighten gently by turning it in a clockwise direction (plastic part).

Der optische Teil der KARL STORZ Fiberskope besteht aus einem optischen Glasfaserbündel in einem flexiblen und wasserdichten Mantel, einem Lichtleiter sowie Objektiv- und Okularlinsen. Wie alle optischen Systeme sind diese Teile sehr empfindlich. Ein sorgfältiger Umgang mit den Fiberskopen ist deshalb die Voraussetzung für lange Lebensdauer und gleichbleibende Quali tät. Beachten Sie deshalb folgende Punkte:

Like all optical systems, these parts are very delicate. For this reason, careful handling of the fiberscopes is essential for a long service life and a consistent quality. Therefore be aware of the following points:

• Das Objektiv  am distalen Ende sorgfältig vor Beschädigungen schützen: Nicht anstoßen, Verschmutzungen keinesfalls mit scharfkantigen Gegenständen entfernen.

• Das Fiberskop nicht zusammen mit scharf kantigen Gegenständen lagern oder desinfizieren, um Beschädigungen der Außenmantel zu vermeiden.

• Niemals schwere Gegenstände auf das Fiberskop legen.

Hinweis: Jedem von KARL STORZ ausge lieferten Fiberskop liegt ein Foto bei, das den Zustand des Fiberbündels bei Auslieferung zeigt. Eine Kopie dieses Fotos wird in der Kartei un serer Qualitätssicherung aufbewahrt. Die keil förmige Markierung (bei 12 Uhr) dient zur Ori entierung des Benutzers.

• Never kink or tightly coil the fiberscopes and light guides, so that no optical fibers break off. It is therefore best to suspend the fiberscopes for storage or keep in large containers.

• Do not jerk the up/down control  or move forcefully.

• Do not insert the instruments or cleaning brush es forcefully through the channels. This may cause damage to the casing, especially if the tip of the instrument is deflected.

• Carefully protect the objective lens  at the distal end from damage. Do not hit. Never re move soiling with sharp-edged objects.

• Never store or disinfect the fiberscope together with sharp-edged objects to prevent damage to the exterior.

• Never place heavy objects on top of the fiber scope.

Note: Every fiberscope supplied by KARL STORZ includes a photo showing the condition of the fiber bundle upon delivery. A copy of this photo is kept on file in our quality control office. The wedge-shaped marking (at 12 o’clock) serves as a guide for the user.

Einsatz der Fiberskope

Die folgenden Hinweise dienen der korrekten Be dienung des Fiberskopes und des entsprech en den Zubehörs. Sie sind keine Einführung in die Technik der Endoskopie.

Hinweise zur endoskopischen Technik entnehmen Sie bitte der entsprechenden medizinischen Fach literatur.

Für Ihr Fiberskop geeignetes Zubehör (Katheter, flexible Scheren und Zangen, Führungsdrähte, Steinfänger, Sonden für die Lithotripsie, Laser fibern, Elektroden u.a.) finden Sie im entsprechen den Karl Storz Katalog.

Warnung: Die Lichtintensität der Licht quelle soweit reduzieren, dass noch eine optimale Ausleuchtung des Operations feldes erreicht wird. Je höher die Inten sität der Lichtquelle eingestellt wird, desto größer ist die Wärmeabgabe an der Spitze des Fiberskopes.

Warnung: Niemals das Ende des Lichtleitkabels oder die distale Spitze des Fiberskops auf oder unter ein Sterilabdecktuch legen. Die Intensität des Lichts kann zu Verbrennungen des Patienten und/oder des sterilen Abdecktuches führen.

• Beachten Sie beim Anschluss und Betrieb von Lichtquellen und Saug/Spülgeräten die Ge brauchsanweisungen der jeweiligen Geräte. Die von KARL STORZ empfohlenen Spül geräte sind auf einen maximalen Druck von 54 kpa (400 mmHg/0,54bar/7,8psi) eingestellt.

• Die Durchführung von endoskopischen Untersuchungen müssen unter aseptischen Kautelen erfolgen.

Using the fiberscopes

The following instructions are recommended for the proper operation of the fiberscope and accessories. This is not a reference for endoscopic techniques.

Consult the appropriate medical literature for information on endoscopic techniques.

You can find accessories for your fiberscope (catheters, flexible scissors and forceps, guide wires, stone baskets, lithotriptor probes, laser fibers, electrodes etc.) in the appropriate KARL STORZ catalog.

Warning: Always adjust the light source to the minimum illumination intensity necessary to achieve optimum visualization of the operating field. The higher the intensity setting of the light source, the greater the heat energy that will be generated at the tip of the fiberscope.

Warning: Never lay the end of the fiber optic cable or the distal tip of the fiberscope on or under a sterile cover cloth. The light intensity may lead to burns on the patient and/or sterile cover cloth.

When connecting and operating light sources and suction/irrigation equipment, be certain to read the appropriate instruction manuals for the equipment. The irrigation equipment recommended by KARL STORZ is set to a maximum pressure of 54 kpa (400 mmHg/

0,54bar/

Endoscopic examinations must be carried out under aseptic conditions.

Cuidado: Reduzca la intensidad lumínica de la fuente de luz hasta que se alcance todavía una óptima iluminación del campo operatorio. Cuanto mayor se ajuste la intensidad en la fuente de luz, tanto mayor es la emisión de calor en la punta del fibroscopio.

Cuidado: No deposite nunca el extremo del portaluz o la punta distal del fi broscopio sobre o debajo de un paño esterilizado. La intensidad de la luz puede provocar quemaduras en el pa ciente y/o en el paño esterilizado.

Note: When the lip valve is first used, the instrument is subjected to increased resistance. This resistance will decrease the more often the lip valve is used.

• When inserting an instrument into the instrument channel, the fiberscope must be in a straight, nondeflected position.

Caution: When inserting instruments, increasing resistance is felt with increasing deflection. Forced introduction of instruments can lead to damage to the fiberscope or the instrument channel.

Al introducir el fibroscopio en el paciente, la punta distal del mismo ha de estar en posición recta, no acodada (encastre del elemento de mando que se percibe y oye). El fibroscopio habrá de manejarse de acuerdo con las reglas y procedimientos médicos re conocidos para procedimientos endoscópicos.

• Si no se ha introducido ningún instrumento, cierre el extremo proximal del canal para instrumentos con el tapón (nº de art. 29100).

• Si ha de introducirse un instrumento, coloque la válvula de labios desechable (nº de art. 11301 CA) a fin de hermetizar el extremo proximal del canal para instrumentos.

• A través del canal para instrumentos del fi broscopio pueden introducirse instrumentos especialmente diseñados al efecto. Preste atención a una longitud y diámetro adecuados de los accesorios. Accesorios inadecuados pueden deteriorar los fibroscopios. Para consultas con respecto a los accesorios, diríjase directamente a KARL STORZ o a un es tablecimiento especializado autorizado.

Nota: Al utilizar la válvula de labios por primera vez, el instrumento encuentra una mayor resistencia de trabajo. Esta resistencia se va reduciendo al ir aumentando la aplicación.

• Al introducir un instrumento en el canal para instrumentos, el fibroscopio ha de estar en posición recta, no angulada.

Ungeeignetes Zubehör kann Fiberskope beschädigen. Bei Fragen zum Zubehör wenden Sie sich bitte direkt an KARL STORZ oder an den autorisierten Fachhandel.

When introducing the fiberscope into the pa tient, the distal tip of the fiberscope must be in a straight, nondeflected position (control lockin can be felt and heard). The fiberscope must be handled according to the recognized medical rules and procedures for endoscopic methods.

• If no instrument is inserted, close the instrument channel proximally with a plug (Art. no. 29100).

• If an instrument is to be inserted, position the disposable lip valve (Art. no. 11301 CA) to seal off the instrument channel proximally.

• Instruments especially designed for this may be inserted through the instrument channel of the fiberscopes. Make certain the accessories have a suitable length and diameter. Unsuit able accessories may damage the fiberscopes. For questions on accessories, please contact KARL STORZ directly or an authorized dealer.

Vorsicht: Ist der Widerstand beim Einführen eines Instrumentes zu stark, dann darf das Instrument nicht mit Gewalt eingeführt werden. Instrument zurückziehen und die Spitze des Instrumentes mit einem wasserlöslichen Gleitmittel (Liste freigegebener Gleitmittel siehe Anhang) bestreichen. Danach erneut einführen. Vor dem Entfernen des Instrumentes aus dem Patienten muss sich die distale Spitze in gerader Position befinden.

• Zangen, Scheren und anderes Zubehör, dessen Maulteile geöffnet bzw. geschlossen werden können, sind immer mit geschlosse nen Maulteilen in den Instrumentenkanal einzuführen. Die Maulteile dürfen erst geöff net werden, wenn die distale Spitze des Instrumentes völlig aus dem Kanal ausgetre ten ist. Das Öffnen der Maulteile im Instru mentenkanal kann zu Beschädigung des Fiberskops führen.

Warnung: Bei der Verwendung von HF-Elektroden oder Lasersonden muss sichergestellt werden, dass eine Lei stungsapplikation erst dann erfolgt, wenn die aktiven Teile den Instrumen tenkanal verlassen haben und sich im Sichtbereich des Operateurs befinden. Eine Aktivierung im Instrumentenkanal kann zur Beschädigung des Fiberskopes und/oder zu Verletzungen des Patienten führen.

Warnung: Die Anleitung des Laserund/oder des HF-Generators ist zu beachten.

Vorsicht: Wird bei abgewinkeltem Fiberskop Zubehör mit scharfen Spitzen wie beispielsweise EHL-Sonden oder Lasersonden in den Instrumentenkanal eingeführt, so kann dies zur Beschädi gung des Fiberskops führen.

Caution: If undue resistance is encountered when inserting an instrument, do not attempt to force the instrument. Withdraw the instrument and apply a water soluble lubricant (See list of approved lubricants in Appendix) to the tip of the instrument and attempt to insert again. Prior to removal of the instrument from the patient, the distal tip must be in a straight position.

• When using forceps, scissors or other accesso ries that can be opened or closed, ensure that the instrument is completely closed prior to insertion into the instrument channel. Do not attempt to open the jaws until the distal tip is completely free of the channel. Opening the jaws inside the instrument channel can lead to damage to the fiberscope.

Warning: When using HF electrodes or laser probes, make sure that the active parts are clear of the instrument channel and in full view of the operating surgeon before power is applied. Activation within the instrument channel may damage the fiberscope and/or injure the patient.

Warning: Make certain to read the instructions for the laser unit and/or HF generator.

Caution: If accessories with sharp tips, such as EHL probes or laser probes, are inserted into the instrument channel of a deflected fiberscope, this can damage the fiberscope.

Advertencia: Si la resistencia al intro ducir el instrumento es demasiado fuerte, el mismo no debe ser introducido con violencia. Extraiga el instrumento y aplique un producto deslizante soluble en agua (lista de productos deslizantes autorizados, véase el anexo) sobre la punta. Después introdúzcalo nueva mente. Antes de extraer el fibroscopio del pa ciente, la punta distal del mismo debe estar en posición recta.

• Las pinzas, tijeras y otros accesorios con mordazas que pueden abrirse y cerrarse, deben introducirse siempre con las mordazas cerradas en el canal para instrumentos. Las mordazas sólo podrán abrirse cuando la punta distal del instrumento sobresalga completamente fuera del canal. Abrir las mordazas dentro del canal para instrumentos puede provocar deterioros en el fibroscopio.

Cuidado: Al utilizar electrodos de AF o sondas de láser debe asegurarse que la aplicación de potencia se produzca sólo cuando las piezas activas hayan salido del canal para instrumentos y se encuentren en el campo visual del cirujano. Una activación dentro del canal para instrumentos puede producir deterioros en el fibroscopio y/o lesiones en el paciente.

Cuidado: Observe la Instrucción del generador de láser y/o de AF.

Advertencia: Se puede deteriorar el fibroscopio si se introducen en el canal para instrumentos accesorios con puntas afiladas, tales como sondas EHL o sondas de láser, estando el fibroscopio angulado.

Caution: When using a stone basket, the stone must not be retracted through the instrument channel but instead the entire fiberscope must be removed. Once the stone is removed, the stone basket may then be taken out of the instrument channel.

Caution: The fiberscopes must be cleaned and then prepared immediately after the intervention in order to prevent incrustations. Dried-on incrustations may jeopardize successful decontamination and disinfection

• A leakage test must be carried out after every intervention, to prevent damage during preparation.

Caution: Use only KARL STORZ accesories (guide probes, cleaning brushes etc.). Accessories from other manufacturers may damage the fiberscopes.

Note: If the instrument is in the working channel, its additional rigidity may limit maneuverability.

Advertencia: Si se utiliza un sujetacál culos, el cálculo no ha de extraerse a través del canal de instrumentos, sino más bien debe extraerse el fibroscopio completo. Después de eliminar el cál culo puede extraerse entonces el sujetacálculos del canal para instru mentos.

Vorbereitung des Fiberskopes

Bevor das Fiberskop am Patienten verwendet wird müssen äußere Schäden und Probleme der Einsatzfähigkeit ausgeschlossen werden.

Betrachten Sie die äußere Hülle des Fibersko pes. Achten Sie auf sichtbare Schäden der Umhüllung, besonders im Bereich der Fiber skop-Spitze.

Schauen Sie durch das Okular und überzeugen Sie sich, dass Sie ein klares Bild sehen. Das Raster (Moiree-Effekt) soll deutlich erkennbar sein. Ist das Bild nicht klar, sondern getrübt, rei nigen Sie Okular und Objektiv unter hygienischen Bedingungen mit einem alkoholgetränkten Wattestäbchen.

Bei DCI

-Fiberskopen kontrollieren Sie die Bildqualität am Bildschirm. Ggf. Bild-, Lichtleiter und Okular wie oben beschrieben reinigen.

Bleibt die Trübung bestehen, so besteht die Möglichkeit von Kratzern am Objektiv oder von Feuchtigkeit im Innern der Optik. Das Fiberskop darf in diesem Fall nicht verwendet werden: zur Reparatur geben.

Vorsicht: Vor jeder Anwendung am Patienten ist das Instrument auf Dichtigkeit zu prüfen.

Prüfen Sie die Dichtigkeit des Fiberskopes vor jeder Anwendung am Patienten.

Beachten Sie dazu die Angaben auf Seite 23 dieser Gebrauchsanweisung.

Preparation of the fiberscope

Before using the fiberscope on a patient, exterior damage and operational problems must be eliminated. Check the outer sheath of the fiberscope. Be especially aware of visible damage to the casing, particularly in the area of the fiberscope tip.

Look through the eyepiece and make certain that you have a clear image. The grid (Moiré effect) should be easily recognizable. If the image is not clear but cloudy, clean the eyepiece and lens with a cotton applicator soaked in alcohol, maintaining hygienic conditions at all times.

DCI

fiberscope image quality can be controlled on screen. If necessary, clean image waveguides, light cables and eyepieces as described above.

If it is still cloudy, it is possible that the objective lens is scratched or that there is moisture inside the telescope. The fiberscope must not be used in this case, but instead sent in for repairs.

Caution: Before every application on the patient, check the instrument for leaks.

Check the fiberscope for leaks before every ap plication on a patient.

Make certain to read the specifications on page 23 of this instruction manual.

Preparación del fibroscopio

Antes de utilizar el fibroscopio con un paciente debe excluirse la posibilidad de deterioros exteriores o problemas en su capacidad de funcionamiento. Observe Ud. el revestimiento exterior del fibroscopio. Preste atención a deterioros visibles en el revestimiento, especialmente en la punta del fibroscopio.

Mire a través del ocular y cerciórese de que ob tiene una imagen clara. La rejilla (efecto moiré) debe ser claramente reconocible. Si la imagen no fuera clara sino turbia, limpie usted el ocular y el objetivo con un bastoncillo de algodón embebido en alcohol, manteniendo condiciones higiénicas.

En el caso de fibroscopios DCI

controle la calidad de la imagen en la pantalla. Si es necesario, limpie los conductores de luz e imagen y el ocular como se describe más arriba.

Si la imagen permanece turbia, es posible entonces que el objetivo esté rayado o haya penetrado humedad al interior del telescopio. En este caso, el fibroscopio ya no debe seguir siendo utilizado: envíelo a reparación.

Controlling the distal tip

The up/down movement of the distal tip on the fiberscope can be adjusted at the control : move smoothly and slowly.

• a locking mechanism  for securing the fiberscope tip (gynecology).

Warnung: Bevor das Fiberskop aus dem Patienten entfernt wird, muss der LockMechanismus , gelöst und die distale Spitze des Fiberskopes in die neutrale, nicht abgewinkelte Position gebracht werden, da sonst Schäden am Instru ment oder Verletzungen des Patienten auftreten können.

Zum Lösen der Fixierung drehen Sie den LockMechanismus  langsam nach proximal zurück.

Warning: Before the fiberscope is removed from the patient, the locking mechanism  must be released and the distal tip of the fiberscope put in the neutral, non-deflected position. Otherwise the instrument may be damaged or the patient injured.

To release the locking mechanism  from the secure position, turn it slowly to proximal.

Suction

Press the suction valve  to start suction (when the suction pump has been connected and switched on).

Caution: There should be no instrument in the suction channel during suction. The instrument channel inlet should be closed so that no secondary air is drawn in.

Insufflation

• using a barbed tube (Art. no. 600007) on the instrument channel or

• if you are using the three-way double stopcock adapter with LUER-lock (Art. no. 6927691), attach the hose to the tube holder on the angled part of the adapter. This ensures that the straight-line passage of the adapter remains free for instrument insertion.

Focusing

The image is focused with the focusing ring .

Note: When connecting photo or video systems recommended by KARL STORZ, the fiberscope focusing ring must be at the zero position (mark).

DCI®fiberscopes are focused using the adjustment wheel of the DCI®camera (see page 18).

PDD version

Fiberscopes intended for use in Photodynamic Diagnosis (PDD) or autofluorescence (AF) are illuminated with a special diagnosis light (D-Light C). Adjust the PDD filter changer  for special filters designed for this light and possibly for marker substances:

ALA for a special tumor marker based

on aminolevulinic acid W for white light AF autofluorescence mode

Note: If the filter changer is set to ‘ALA’ or ‘AF’, a yellowish image is produced when viewing through the integrated special filter.

Note: No filter changer is available on PDD fiberscope art. no. 11272 CI. The filter (ALA) is permanently installed.

For optimal illumination, use the fluid light cable 495 FP (2.5 m) or 495 FO (1.8 m) between the light source and PDD fiberscope.

Caution: For cleaning and disinfection, use a product from the KARL STORZ approved chemicals list (see Appendix, pp. 53, 54). The current list of approved products can be found on our website (www.karlstorz.com).

Vorreinigung

Sofort nach Gebrauch den Außenmantel des Fi berskopes von groben Verunreinigungen (Se kreten etc.) befreien. Dazu ein desinfektionsmittelbefeuchtetes (vorzugsweise alkoholfreies) Einmaltuch verwenden. Das Distalende in ein Gefäß mit Reinigungs- oder Desinfektionslösung tauchen und die Absaugung betätigen, um den Arbeitskanal zu säubern.

Vorsicht: Vor dem Einlegen in Desinfek tionslösung ist das Instrument auf Dich tigkeit zu prüfen, da sonst eindringende Flüssigkeit Beschädigungen verursachen kann.

Vorsicht: Bei Miniatur-Endoskopen mit ab nehmbarem Okularteil muss das Okularteil vor dem Sterilisieren entweder mit dem Ver schlussstopfen verschlossen oder fest auf das Endoskop aufgesetzt sein.

Dichtigkeitstester (Art.-Nr. 13242 XL) an den Ventil zum Druckausgleich  anschließen und Druck aufbauen bis der Zeiger im blau markierten Bereich steht. Den Zeiger ca. 30 Sekunden lang beobachten: während dieser Zeit darf der Druck nicht absinken. Rote Taste am Druckball drücken und Druck ablassen. Prüfgerät vom Fiberskop entfernen.

Hinweis: Beim Aufpumpen darauf achten, dass die rote Taste zum Ablassen des Druckes richtig geschlossen ist.

Sollte Druckverlust auftreten, ist das Fiberskop undicht und darf nicht weiterverwendet oder eingelegt werden. In diesem Fall zur Reparatur senden.

Preliminary cleaning

Immediately after use, remove any heavy soiling from the exterior of the fiberscope (secretions etc.). Use a disposable cloth moistened with disinfectant (preferably alcohol-free). Submerge the distal end in a container with cleaning or disinfectant solution and activate the suction to clean the working channel.

Caution: Before soaking in disinfectant, check the instrument for leaks. Otherwise fluid penetrating the fiberscope could cause damage.

Caution: For miniature endoscopes with a removable eyepiece, the eyepiece must either be sealed with a plug or firmly attached to the endoscope before sterilization.

Connect the leakage tester (art. no. 13242 XL) to the valve for pressure compensation  and build up pressure until the pointer is in the blue marked range. Watch the pointer for approx. 30 seconds: the pressure must not drop during this time.Press the red button on the pressure valve and release the pressure. Remove the test unit from the fiberscope.

Note: During inflation, make certain that the red pressure relief button is completely closed.

If there is a loss in pressure, the fiberscope has a leak and must neither be used nor immersed in liquid. In this event, send the fiberscope in for repairs.

Limpieza previa

Inmediatamente después del uso, elimine la suciedad más gruesa (secreciones, etc.) de la camisa exterior del fibroscopio. Utilice para ello un paño desechable humedecido con un producto desinfectante (preferentemente sin alcohol). Sumerja el extremo distal en un recipiente con solución de limpieza o desinfección y accione la succión a fin de limpiar el canal de trabajo.

Advertencia: Antes de sumergir el instrumento en solución desinfectante, compruebe la estanqueidad del mismo, dado que si penetra líquido pueden producirse deterioros.

Advertencia: En el caso de endoscopios en miniatura con pieza ocular extraíble, antes de la esterilización ha de haberse cerrado la pieza ocular con el tapón de cierre o haberse colocado firmemente en el endoscopio.

Conecte el verificador de estanqueidad (nº de art. 13242 XL) en la válvula para compensación de presión  y genere presión hasta que el indicador se encuentre en el sector marcado en azul. Observe el indicador durante aprox. 30 segundos: durante este período la presión no debe descender. Presione la te cla roja en la pera de goma y suelte la presión. Retire el aparato de comprobación del fibroscopio.

Nota: Al insuflar, preste atención a que la tecla roja de escape de la presión esté correctamente cerrada.

Si apareciese una pérdida de presión, significa que el fibroscopio no es estanco y no debe ser sumergido ni se lo debe seguir utilizando. En este caso, envíelo a reparación.

• Remove suction valve insert  from the valve nozzle : press the projections on the side together and pull out the suction valve insert.

• Dispose of disposable parts removed. If necessary, disassemble other parts further and prepare separately.

Caution: Pass the brush through the channel in only one direction and pull back only after the brush head has completely left the distal end. The brush

must not be pulled back and forth within the channel, since this can lead to damage.

Clean the brush head appearing at the distal end with another brush or compressed air before retracting it. Avoid splashing. Then thoroughly rinse the channels repeatedly using cleaning and disinfection agents. If required, add a cleaning agent booster.

Hartnäckige Verschmutzungen und Beläge können mit Reinigungspaste (Art.-Nr. 27661) entfernt werden. Hierzu wird mit einem sauberen, angefeuchteten Reinigungsstäbchen etwas Reinigungspaste aufgenommen und auf den Glasflächen verteilt. Durch Polieren können selbst fest haftende Beläge gelöst werden.

Hinweis: NachVerwendung einer Reinigungs paste, müssen Sie das Instrument noch einmal aufbereiten!

Die Fiberfläche und die optischen Endflächen mit einem Wattestäbchen, getränkt mit 70%igem Isopropylalkohol, nachtrocknen.

Hinweis: Insbesondere die Fiberfläche im Lichteinlassstutzen muss sorgfältig mit Alkohol nachgetrocknet werden. Rückstände von Des infektions- und Reinigungsmitteln im Lichtein lassstutzen können bei angeschlossenem Licht leitkabel festbrennen und die Lichttransmission erheblich beeinträchtigen.

Clean the eyepiece and objective lens with a soft cloth, sponge or cotton swab, soaked with 70% alcohol.

Caution: Cleaning with the special clean-

ing paste should only be carried out if

the image as viewed through the endo-

scope is visibly cloudy or if there are visi-

ble deposits on the optical surfaces, it should certainly not be used routinely during preparation.

Stubborn soiling and deposits may be removed with cleaning paste (art. no. 27661). To do this, a small amount of cleaning paste is placed on a clean, moistened cleaning swab and distributed over the glass surface. Through polishing, even stubborn deposits can be removed.

Note: The instrument must be prepared again following treatment with the cleaning paste!

Finally, dry the surfaces of the fibers and the optical end faces with a cotton-tipped applicator soaked in 70% alcohol.

Note: The fiber surface in the light inlet piece must be dried off especially thoroughly with alcohol. Residue from disinfectants and detergents in the light inlet piece could bake on if the fiber optic light cable is connected and severely impair light transmission.



Nota: Especialmente la superficie de fibra en los pitones de entrada de luz debe secarse cuidadosamente con alcohol. Manuelle Desinfektion

Alle Teile der KARL STORZ Fiberskope können desinfiziert werden. Es eignen sich speziell für Endoskope empfohlene und von KARL STORZ freigegebene MIttel, siehe Anhang (Internet).

Wir empfehlen zur Desinfektion eine Plastikwanne (Art.-Nr. 27647 V), um Kratzer insbesondere auf den optischen Endflächen zu vermeiden. Eine Plastikwanne vermeidet außerdem elektro lytische Korrosion, die auftreten kann, falls sich verschiedene Metalle in einer Lösung befinden.

Manual disinfection

All parts of the KARL STORZ fiberscope can be disinfected. For this purpose, materials approved by KARL STORZ and recommended for use with endoscopes should be used. Please refer to the Appendix (Internet).

For disinfection, we recommend a plastic basin (Art. no. 27647 V), in order to avoid scratches on the optical end faces in particular. A plastic basin also prevents electrolytic corrosion, which can occur if different metals are present in a solution.

Pueden desinfectarse todas las piezas de los fibroscopios KARL STORZ. Para ello son adecuados los productos especialmente recomendados para endoscopios y autorizados por KARL STORZ, detallados en el Anexo (Internet).

Para la desinfección, recomendamos utilizar una cubeta plástica (nº de art. 27647 V), a fin de evitar rayaduras, particularmente en las superficies ópticas terminales. Así se evita también la corrosión electrolítica, que puede aparecer si se encuentran diferentes metales en una solución.

Alle Teile des Instrumentes mindestens dreimal mit der angesetzten Lösung gründlich durchspülen. Die Spül dauer sollte jeweils mindestens eine Minute betragen. Das be nutzte Spülwasser ist zu ent sorgen, da es mit Reini gungs lösung verschmutzt ist.

Für jeden Spülvorgang frisches mikrobiologisch einwandfreies/steriles Wasser verwenden. Eine gründliche Spülung des Fi berskopes mit mikrobiologisch einwandfreies/steriles Wasserist unbedingt erforderlich, um die toxischen Wirkungen von etwaigen Chemikalinerückständen zu ver hindern und um das Instrument von Tensiden zu befreien, die elektrisch leitfähig werden können. Außerdem um das Sterilisationser geb nis nicht zu beeinträchtigen sowie Schädigungen der Ober fläche zu vermeiden.

For disinfection, submerge the fiberscope completely. Ensure that the lumina of the channels and sheaths are completely filled with the solution. There must be no more air (air bubbles) in the channels. Make sure that all the stopcocks, the valve insert and the valve cap are open or have been disassembled.

Immerse the valve insert, adaptors etc. separately.

Rinse out the instrument channel  with a syringe filled with disinfectant solution. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for concentration and exposure time. Rinse all parts of the instrument through thoroughly at least three times with the prepared solution. The rinsing time should be at least a minute in each case. The rinsing water used must be disposed of since it is contaminated with cleaning solution.

For each rinse, use new microbiologically pure/sterile water. It is absolutely necessary to rinse the fiberscope with microbiologically pure/sterile water in order to prevent potential toxic impact from any remaining chemical residue and to remove surfactants, which could cause the instrument to become conductive. This is also required to optimize the results of sterilization and avoid damage to the surface.

Con una jeringa llena con solución desinfectante enjuague el canal para instrumentos , observando las indicaciones del fabricante en cuanto a concentración y tiempo de aplicación. Enjua gue bien todas las piezas del instrumento tres veces como mínimo con la solución. El enjuague debe durar en cada caso un minuto como mínimo. El agua utilizada debe desecharse, dado que está contaminada con solución de limpieza.

Para cada proceso de enjuague utilice agua microbiológicamente pura/esterilizada, fresca. Un enjuague minucioso del fibroscopio con agua microbiológicamente pura/esterilizada es imprescindiblemente necesario para evitar los efectos tóxicos de posibles residuos de solución desinfectante y para eliminar del instrumento los elementos tensioactivos, que podrían ser conductores de electricidad. Además, sirve para no menoscabar los resultados de la esterilización, así como para evitar deterioros de la superficie.

Note: If, according to the high risk classification and/or the Infection Protection Act, sterilization of flexible fiberscopes is not required, the instruments should be stored safely in a hanging position (distal tip pointing down), so that any remaining moisture may drain out.

Dry the outside of the instruments with a lint-free sterile cloth and/or sterile compressed air.

Remove any water in the instrument and suction channels using sterile compressed air.

Alle Karl Storz Fiberskope können nach ent sprechender Vorreinigung (s. S. 27) an Geräte zur Halb- oder vollautomatischen Aufbereitung angeschlossen werden. Bei Fiberskopen mit starker Verunreinigung ist eine zusätzliche ma nuelle Reinigung vor der maschinellen Aufbe reitung erforderlich. Die Auswahl der Aufberei tungsprogramme muss mit dem Maschinen hersteller abgesprochen werden. Meistens sind spezielle Programme für Fiberskope vorhanden, die für die Reinigung und Materialschonung geeignet sind. Es ist zu beachten, dass bei der maschinellen Aufbereitung die Fiberskope nicht über 65°C erhitzt werden dürfen.

Vorsicht: Prüfen Sie vor jeder Aufbe reitung in halb- oder vollautomatischen Geräten das Fiberskop auf Dichtigkeit.

Dichtigkeitstesteranschluss an Reinigungs- und Desin fektionsautomat (RDA):

• ETD3-/ETD2-Reinigungsmaschinen: Adapter für Dichtigkeitstest (Art.-Nr. 11301 FF2, siehe Seite 34ff/37ff)

• BHT-RDA: Adapter für Dichtigkeitstest (Art.-Nr. 11301 HH)

• andere RDA: fiberskopseitig über mitgelieferten grünen Adapter (Art.-Nr. 13 242 XA); maschinenseitig: beim Hersteller des RDA anfragen.

Falls der Anschluss an die Dichtigkeitsprüfeinheit der Aufbereitungsmaschine aus irgendwelchen Gründen nicht möglich ist, prüfen Sie die Dichtig keit vorab manuell, wie auf Seite 27 beschrieben, oder prüfen Sie Adaption mit 13242 XA.

Machine preparation after appropriate preliminary cleaning

After the appropriate preliminary cleaning (see p. 27), all KARL STORZ fiberscopes may be connected to devices for semi-automatic or automatic preparation. Heavily soiled fiberscopes must also be manually cleaned prior to machine preparation. The choice of preparation programs must be agreed with the machine manufacturer. There are usually special programs available for fiberscopes, which are suitable for cleaning and which are gentle on materials. For machine preparation, make sure that the fiberscopes are not heated above 65°C.

Caution: Check the fiberscope for leaks before every preparation in semi- or fully automatic equipment.

Leakage tester connection on washer/disinfector:

• ETD3/ETD2 washers: Adaptor for leakage test (Art. no. 11301 FF2, see pp. 34/37)

• BHT washer/disinfector: Adaptor for leakage test (Art. no. 11301 HH)

• Belimed washer/disinfector: Adaptor for leakage test (Art. no. 11301 BM)

• On the fiberscope using the green adaptor included in delivery (Art. no 13 242 XA); On the machine: consult the manufacturer of the washer/disinfector.

If the preparation machine cannot be connected to the leakage testing unit for any reason, check for leakage manually as described on page 27 or check the adaptor connection using the 13242 XA.

Todos los fibroscopios de Karl Storz pueden conectarse, después de la limpieza previa pertinente (véase pág. 27) a aparatos de preparación semi o completamente automáticos. Zur maschinellen Aufbereitung den grünen Rei nigungs-Adapter (Art.-Nr. 11301 CD) zur Auf bereitung des Saug-/Spülkanales in Reini gungsmaschinen an einen Aufbereitungs schlauch anschließen und auf den Ventilstutzen aufsetzen.

Um Druckverluste im RDA zu vermeiden verschließen Sie nicht verwendete Anschlüsse mit dem LUER-Verschluss (Art.-Nr. 6011590).

Warnung: Die Gebrauchsanleitung des RDA ist zu beachten!

To prepare the suction/irrigation channel in a washer, connect the green washer adaptor (Art. no. 11301 CD) to a preparation tube and place it on the valve connections.

For preparation in ETD3 machines, use the special adaptor (Art. no. 11301 KK, see p. IV).

For cleaning in ETD2 machines, use the special adaptor (Art. no. 11301 GG, see p. IV).

For fiberscopes with a working channel without a suction valve, connect the washer/disinfector to the working channel .

To avoid pressure loss in the washer/disinfector, connections which are not in use should be sealed with a LUER-lock (Art. no. 6011590).

Warning: Please observe the instruction manual of the washer/disinfector.

Lay the fiberscope carefully in the tray of the machine. Connect the rinsing tubes to the channels. Proceed with the endoscope cleaning and disinfection program according to the regulations of the machine manufacturer.

Caution: After the program has finished, the fiberscopes are highly susceptible to corrosion due to the ambient conditions in the preparation machine.

Remove the fiberscopes from the machine as soon as possible after the program has finished.

Then dry the optical surfaces with a cottontipped applicator soaked in 70% alcohol.

1. Schieben Sie das freie Schlauchende  des Ad apters (Art.-Nr. 11301 GG) auf die Schlaucholive des grünen Adapters (Art.-Nr. 11301 CD).

Hinweis:

Ziehen Sie bei Fiberskopen mit Arbeits kanal ohne Absaugventil den je weilis nicht benötigten Schlauch z. B.  aus dem Metallblock.

1. Slide the free tube end  of the adaptor (Art. no. 11301 GG) onto the olive connector of the green adaptor (Art. no. 11301 CD).

Note:

For fiberscopes with a working channel without a suction valve, pull the tube not required, e.g.  out of the metal block.

4. Setzen Sie zur maschinellen Aufbereitung den grünen Rei nigungsadapter (Art.-Nr. 11301 CD) auf den Ventilstutzen des Fiberskops auf.

5. Setzen Sie den Schlauch mit LUER-Lock auf den Insrumentenkanal  des Fiberskopes auf und be festigen Sie diesen.

Dismantling the adaptor 11301 GG: Press the button corresponding to each tube and pull the tube off simultaneously.

4. For machine preparation, attach the green adaptor (Art. no. 11301 CD) to the valve connections of the fiberscope.

5. Attach the tube with LUER-lock to the fiberscope instrument channel  and secure it.

7. Connect the adaptor (Art. no. 11301 FF) to the ‘valve for equalizing pressure and connecting leakage tester’.

8. Connect the leakage tester to the EDT3 using the adaptor 11301 FF.

9. Connect the adaptor for cleaning the instrument channel in EDT3 washers (Art. no. 11301 KK) to the connector of the supply tube.

10. Lay the instrument carefully in the tray of the EDT3 machine.

11. Connect the rinsing tubes to the EDT3 machine.

Warning: To avoid pressure loss in the EDT3 machine, connections which are not in use should be sealed with LUERlocks.

12. Screw the adaptor 11301 KK onto the designated connections of the EDT3 machine, according to the figure.

13. Use the cleaning and disinfection program for fiberscopes according to the EDT3 manufacturer’s instructions.

9. Schließen Sie den Adapter zur Reinigung des Instrumentenkanals in EDT3-Reinigungs maschinen (Art.-Nr. 11301 KK) an das Anschluss stück des Versorgungsschlauches an.

13.Fiberskop Reinigungs- und Desinfektions pro gramm nach Vorgaben des Maschinenherstellers (EDT3) verwenden.

Lay the endoscope carefully in the machine basket. Connect the irrigation tubing to the channels. Proceed with the endoscope cleaning program according to the regulations of the ma chine manufacturer.

Caution: After the program run, the fiberscopes are greatly at risk of corrosion in the preparation machine.
