Kambrook Recommends Safety First
IMPORTANT: Please retain your instruction book for future use.
At Kambrook, we believe that safe performance is the first priority in any consumer product, so that you, our valued customer can confidently use and trust our products. We ask that any electrical appliance that you use be operated in a sensible fashion with due care and attention placed on the following important operating instructions.
Important Safeguards For Your Kambrook Captiv12 Turbo Handheld Vacuum
• Carefully read all instructions before operating the Handheld Vacuum for the first time and save for future reference.
• Remove and safely discard any packaging material and promotional labels before using the Handheld Vacuum for the first time.
• This Handheld Vacuum is intended for household use only and not for commercial or industrial use.
• Always ensure the Handheld Vacuum is properly assembled before use. Follow the instructions provided in this book.
• Do not use without dust canister and filter in place. Always clean dust canister and filter after picking up any perishable food items.
• Use only Captiv12 Turbo Handheld Vacuum accessories, filter and charger.
• Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking such as cigarettes, matches or hot ashes.
• Avoid picking up hard, sharp objects as they may damage the dust canister and/or the filter.
• Do not use Handheld Vacuum to pick up flammable or poisonous liquids such as petrol, copier toner or other volatile substances. Do not use to pick up acids, asbestos or asbestos dust.
• The Handheld Vacuum is not designed to pick up liquids. Do not use the Handheld Vacuum to pick up any kinds of liquids including water.
• Do not operate in the presence of explosives and/or flammable fumes or liquids.
• Do not unplug the charger by pulling on the cord.
• Never carry the charger or charging base by the cord or yank to disconnect from an outlet; instead, grasp the charger and pull to disconnect. Do not pull the cord around sharp edges or corners.
• Do not immerse the Handheld Vacuum, charger, cord or charging base in water or any other liquid.
• Use only the charger supplied with this Handheld Vacuum to recharge this product.
• Always switch the Handheld Vacuum off when charging.
• Do not attempt to use the charger with any other product.
• The use of an extension cord is not recommended. Only plug the charger into the standard electrical outlet (230V or 240V outlet).
• Never handle the charger or Handheld Vacuum with wet hands.

Important Safeguards For All Electrical Appliances
• Fully unwind the power cord before use.
• Connect only to a 230V or 240V power outlet.
• Do not let the power cord hang over the
edge of a bench or table, touch hot surfaces or become knotted.
• To protect against electric shock do not immerse the power cord, power plug or housing in water or any other liquid.
• The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• It is recommended to regularly inspect the appliance. To avoid a hazard, do not use the appliance if power cord, power plug or appliance becomes damaged in any way. Return the entire appliance to the nearest authorised Kambrook Service Centre for examination and/or repair.
• Any maintenance other than cleaning should be performed at an authorised Kambrook Service Centre.
• This appliance is for household use only. Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use. Do not use in moving vehicles or boats. Do not use outdoors.
Misuse may cause injury.
• The installation of a residual current device (safety switch) is recommended to provide additional safety protection when using electrical appliances. It is advisable that a safety switch with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA be installed in the electrical circuit supplying the appliance. See your electrician for professional advice.
• Do not place this appliance on or near a heat source, such as hot plate, oven or heaters.
• Do not put any objects into any openings. Do not use with any opening blocked. Keep free of dust, lint, hair, or anything that may reduce airflow.
• Do not operate with a damaged charger, cord or charging base, or after the appliance has malfunctioned or been damaged in any manner. Immediately cease use of the Handheld Vacuum and return the entire unit to the nearest authorised Kambrook Service Centre for examination, adjustment or repair.
• Before first use, the Handheld Vacuum must be charged for at least 24 hours. Ensure that the power On/Off switch is turned to the ‘OFF’ position before charging, otherwise the Handheld Vacuum will not charge.
• Any maintenance other than cleaning dust canister and filters should be performed at an authorised Kambrook Service Centre.
• Dirty and clogged filters may result in reduced suction performance. It is recommended that filters are cleaned after every use to ensure maximum efficiency from your Handheld Vacuum. If filters are left unclean it may result in reduction of suction power. Follow the cleaning instructions provided in this book.
• Keep the Handheld Vacuum clean. Follow the cleaning instructions provided in this book.

Operating Your Kambrook Handheld Vacuum
Before first use
Remove any promotional material from the handheld vacuum.
When unpacking the handheld vacuum, check to see you have received all the required components, such as the turbo brush, crevice tool and small brush before discarding the packaging.
WARNING: Before first use, charge your handheld vacuum for at least 24 hours. Make sure that the power On/Off switch is turned to the ‘OFF’ position before charging otherwise the handheld vacuum will not charge.
Mounting the Wall Bracket
The charging base can be mounted vertically to your wall or can be placed horizontally on a flat surface.
Tomountthechargingbase:
1. Choose a convenient position on the wall which is within 1m of an electrical power outlet.
2. Place the charging base vertically parallel with the wall in the desired location (see Fig.1).

3. To correctly align the wall bracket with the wall, using a pencil, mark both the centre of the top screw hole and bottom screw hole located on the charging base.
4. Using a drill, drill a 5mm diameter hole through the centre of the top screw hole and bottom screw hole where the pencil marks are located on the wall.
5. With a washer first inserted onto each screw, fix the two screws into the holes at least 23mm long into the wall.
6. Put the charger head into the bracket hole from the back side and then hang the bracket on the fixed screws.
7. Slide the handheld vacuum onto the wall bracket, ensuring the handheld vacuum head is pointing downwards alongside the wall (see Fig.2).
NOTE: Ensure the charging base is mounted on the wall so that the handheld vacuum head is pointing downwards alongside the wall when the handheld vacuum is placed on the charging base.

Tochargethebattery:
1. Plug charger into a a 230V or 240V power point and switch the power ‘ON’ at the power point.
2. Ensure the handheld vacuum is switched to the ‘OFF’ position before charging.
3. Ensure the recharging pin of the handheld vacuum charger and the recharging socket of the charging base is connected.
4. Slide the handheld vacuum downward onto the charging base making sure the handheld vacuum sits firmly onto the charging base (see Fig.2).

5. The red battery charging light will illuminate indicating that the handheld vacuum is being charged.
6. To maintain charge, keep the charger plugged into a standard wall outlet and charge the handheld vacuum after each use. When charging, the charger may be warm to touch; this is normal. It is impossible to overcharge the battery because the handheld vacuum is designed with overcharge protection circuitry.
WARNING: Always recharge this appliance after each use to extend the life of the battery.
To Operate the Handheld Vacuum
Your handheld vacuum is designed for picking up dry debris such as dirt, dust, pet hair and food crumbs. It is suitable for use on counters, bare floors, rugs, tiles, car interiors, and upholstered furnishings.
1. Once the handheld vacuum is fully charged, the LED battery charging light will be green. Remove the handheld vacuum from the charging base to use.
2. Slide the power On/Off switch forward to the ‘ON’ position.
3. Once vacuuming is complete, slide the power On/Off switch backwards to the ‘OFF’ position.
4. Empty the dust canister, clean the filter and then replace both onto the handheld vacuum before remounting on the charging base (see ‘ Emptying the Dust Canister’on page 10).
NOTE: Slide the power On/ Off switch to the ‘OFF’ position between cleaning tasks to conserve power.

WARNING: The handheld vacuum is not designed to pick up liquids. Do not use to pick up any kinds of liquids including water.
Turbobrush
The turbo brush is designed with a rotating brush that is ideal for picking up dirt and pet hair, brushing them back into the nozzle. It is particularly handy for pet owners to remove pet hair from upholstery.
To fit the turbo brush to the handheld vacuum, push the turbo brush into the nozzle of the handheld vacuum ensuring it is securely fitted (see Fig.3).

Care must be taken when removing the turbo brush from the handheld vacuum. Hold the handheld vacuum in one hand and take hold of the turbo brush with the other hand pulling the accessory firmly away from the handheld vacuum.
Creviceandbrushtool accessories
The handheld vacuum is fitted with an on board crevice tool and small brush tool. The crevice tool is ideal for vacuuming hard to reach places such as the edges along skirting boards. The small brush tool can be used to vacuum delicate surfaces and areas such as shelves and venetian blinds.
The crevice tool and small brush tool are stored under the base of the handheld vacuum (See Fig.4).

To remove the crevice tool and small brush tool, holding on to either side of the accessories pull up and away from the base (See Fig.5). Pull apart accessories to separate.

To store accessories after use, insert crevice tool to fit into the back of the small brush tool until fitted tightly (See Fig.6).

Once crevice tool and small brush tool is fitted together, attach the accessories to the storage area on handheld vacuum base by pushing into the slots and lock into position (See Fig.7)

To fit the crevice tool or small brush tool to the handheld vacuum, push the crevice tool or small brush into the nozzle of the handheld vacuum ensuring it is secure (see Fig.8).

Care must be taken when removing the crevice tool or small brush tool from the handheld vacuum. Hold the handheld vacuum in one hand and take hold of the fitted accessory with the other hand pulling the accessory firmly away from the handheld vacuum.
NOTE: When alternating between accessories, ensure that the handheld vacuum power On/Off switch is in the ‘OFF’ position.

Emptying the Dust Canister
Always switch the handheld vacuum cleaner ‘OFF’ before emptying the dust canister. For optimum use, the dust canister should be emptied after every use.
Toemptythedustcanister;
1. To empty the dust canister, while holding the handle of the handheld vacuum, press downwards with your thumb on the release button located at the top of the handle. Use your other hand to pull the dust canister away from the handheld vacuum pointing the nozzle downwards to avoid spillage (see Fig.9).
2. Tip the dust canister into the rubbish bin, lightly tapping the sides if necessary to dislodge debris.
3. Hand wash the dust canister with warm soapy water if required.
4. Ensure the dust canister is dried completely before refitting to the handheld vacuum.
To Clean the Inlet Valve
The handheld vacuum is fitted with an inlet valve. After emptying the dust canister, the inlet valve may be cleaned to remove excess dust and debris that has built up after usage.
Care must be taken when removing the inlet valve from the handheld vacuum.
1. Hold the dust canister in one hand and take hold of the fitted inlet valve with the other hand pulling the inlet valve firmly away from the dust canister.
2. Hand wash the inlet valve with warm soapy water if required.
3. Ensure the inlet valve is dried completely before refitting to the handheld vacuum.
4. To refit the inlet valve to the dust canister, with the inlet valve rubber flap facing outwards to the right, hold the dust canister in one hand and take hold of the inlet valve and push into place until secured (See Fig.10).

Cleaning the Filter
Check the filters regularly. It is recommended to clean the filter after every use for best performance.
If you encounter reduced vacuum performance, check:
•Dustcapacityindustcanisterand
empty if full.
•Filterfordustanddebrisandclean if required. Any clogging in the filter will reduce the efficiency of your handheld vacuum.
Tocleanthelter
1. To clean the filter, with the dust canister removed, hold the handheld vacuum by the handle with one hand and remove the filter cover from the motor housing by twisting clockwise and gently pulling outwards (see Fig.11).
2. Separate the filter from the filter cover by pulling one away from the other (see. Fig.12).

3. Lightly tap the sides of the filter cover and filter to dislodge any debris.
4. Reattach the filter to the filter cover ensuring it fits flush into place.
5. Reattach the filter cover with filter in place to the handheld vacuum twisting it counter-clockwise.
6. Reattach the dust canister to the motor housing.
NOTE: Do not use any detergents or boiling water to wash the filter. Do not wash the filter in a dishwasher or washing machine.
Cleaning the Turbo Brush
Regularly check the turbo brush to remove hair and dirt that may have accumulated.
To clean the turbo brush, remove the hair, cotton and the likes from the turbo brush by cutting across hair with a pair of scissors, gently pulling free.

To clean the exterior, wipe the handheld vacuum with a soft, damp cloth. Never use an abrasive cleaner.
To store, place onto the charging base ensuring the handheld vacuum is switched to the ‘OFF’ position.
WARNING: Always recharge the appliance after use to extend the life of the batter.
