Using this Instruction Book
Dear Customer,
Thank you for choosing a Teka cooker hood.
We are sure that the appliance you have purchased will fully satisfy your needs.
It has been constructed using top quality materials and has undergone strict quality controls throughout its manufacturing process.
Before installing or using your new cooker hood, please read this manual carefully and follow the instructions in order to ensure the optimum performance of the appliance for many years.
Keep this instruction book in a safe place so that you can consult it whenever necessary and fulfil guarantee requirements.
Safety Instructions
Before using your cooker hood for the first time, please take note of the installation and connection instructions.
Never unplug the hood by pulling the power cable, always by removing the plug from the socket.
Do not use the hood if the power cable has been damaged in any way or if the control switches shows visible signs of deterioration.
If the hood stops working, or operates abnormally, disconnect its power supply (unplug from the mains) and get in touch with your TEKA Technical Service.
Do not leave uncovered gas rings burning under the hood.
Do not allow grease to accumulate on any part of the hood, especially in the filter. This is a fire risk.
Do not flambé under the hood.
Description of the Appliance
Your cooker hood is equipped with (Fig. 1):
A Sliding three-speed extractor fan control. B Light switch. C On/off pilot lamp. D Hob lighting, located behind the extractor
panel.
E Filter located below the extractor fan inta-
ke. Easy to remove. F Filter support frame. G Filter support frame catches. H & I No-return flaps (H), supplied in a bag along
with the hood’s documentation, which
must be installed at the mouth of the
exhaust duct, slotting their ends into the
openings provided for this purpose (I).
This hood is designed for the external venting of fumes, though carbon filters may be fitted to allow the recirculation of purified air to the kitchen through the hood’s outlet duct.
To install the activated carbon filter, line it up with the fixtures on the extractor fan and turn in clockwise direction to secure.
Activated carbon filters have a lifetime of three to six months, depending on the conditions they are used in.
To replace a used filter, follow the installation procedure in reverse order (Fig. 2).
Special Requirements before First Use
Before connecting the hood to the mains electricity supply, make sure that the mains voltage and frequency correspond to the values indicated on the rating label inside the hood.
Using your Hood
Fan motors
Select the desired extraction speed by sliding the control switch situated on the hood’s front or side panel. The extractor fan or fans have three speed settings and an on/off pilot light which lights up when the fan or fans are operating at any of these speeds (Fig. 3).
Light switch
The hob lighting is independent of the extractor fan motor, allowing it to be used irrespective of the hood’s operating status (Fig. 4).
Suggestions and Recommendations
Switch on the extractor fan a few minutes
before you start cooking (3 to 5 minutes) in order to ensure that a steady air flow has been established before cooking fumes appear.
Allow the extractor fan to run for several
minutes after you have finished cooking (3 to 5 minutes) in order to expel all the fumes from the outlet duct. This prevents the return of grease, smoke and smells.
Cleaning and Maintenance
BEFORE CARRYING OUT ANY CLEANING OR MAINTENANCE OPERATION, ENSURE THAT THE APPLIANCE HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED FROM THE MAINS SUPPLY.
Cleaning the filter
Open the filter support by releasing its cat-
ches (A) (Fig. 5).
Allow the filter support to fold down on its
hinges (B) (Fig. 6). Take special care to prevent it from dropping.
Remove the filter. The filter can be cleaned
either in the dishwasher or by running it under the hot water tap, scrubbing with a non-abrasive brush (models A and B).
After cleaning, allow the filter to dry (models
A and B).
To reinstall the clean filter, follow the same
procedure in reverse order (models A and B).
N.B. Cleaning the filter in a dishwasher with strong detergents may blacken its metallic surface, without affecting its grease retention capacity.
Important. Filters should be cleaned at least once a month, depending on hood usage.
Remember that grease will build up on the hood and in the filters whenever you cook, irrespective of whether or not the extractor fan is operating.
Cleaning the filter support and hood body
It is recommended to use warm (approx.
40ºC) soapy water and a damp cloth to clean the hood body, paying special attention to the slots on the extractor grille. After washing, dry thoroughly using a cloth that does not leave fluff.
Warning
Do not use metal scouring pads.
Do not use abrasive cleaning products that
can damage the metal surface.
Do not scrape with sharp objects such as
knives, scissors, etc.
Activated carbon filter
The activated carbon filter cannot be washed or regenerated. Once it has become soiled (obstructed) it must be replaced.
Changing light bulbs (Mod. A) (Fig. 7)
Open the filter support to access the light
bulbs (C).
Make sure that the hood has been discon-
nected from the mains supply and that the bulbs to be replaced are not hot.
The maximum bulb rating is 40 W.
Changing light bulbs (Mod. B) (Fig. 7)
Remove the embellisher ring by unscrewing
it in anti-clockwise direction, taking care not to drop it.
Make sure that the hood has been discon-
nected from the mains supply and that the bulbs to be replaced are not hot.
Remove the old bulb and install the new
one, following the bulb manufacturer’s instructions.
The maximum bulb rating is 40 W, 12 V.
Replace the embellisher ring by screwing
tightly in clockwise direction.

Technical Information
Installation
Before installing the hood, consult the requirements of the corresponding authorities concerning air and smoke extraction regulations.
Extracted air must not be channelled through ducts that are used to extract fumes from appliances powered by any form of energy other than electricity.
The room (kitchen) must be well ventilated if the cooker hood is to be used simultaneously with other appliances powered by any form of energy other than electricity.
When the hood is to operate at the same time as other appliances powered by any form of energy other than electricity, the air output pressure must not exceed 4 Pa (4 x 10-5bar).
To ensure optimum hood performance, the length of the venting duct should not exceed four metres and should not have more than two right angles (90º).
The hood must be connected to a power point provided with an effective earth connection.
If the hood is supplied without a lead for its mains connection (or if this is replaced), disconnection from the mains electricity supply must be achieved by means of an omnipolar cut-off switch, with a minimum contact separation of 3 mm at all the poles, incorporated into the fixed installation.
The appliance must be connected to the mains using flexible cable. The use of rigid tubing is not permitted.
Though it is recommendable to vent fumes externally, activated carbon filters may be fitted to allow the recirculation of purified air to the kitchen through the hood’s outlet duct.
Fitting in kitchen cabinet
The fitting of this hood in a kitchen cabinet is achieved in two steps (Fig. 8).
1 Use the coach screws provided in the
accessory bag to bolt the hood to a wooden panel in which the appropriate aperture has previously been cut (Fig. 8).
2 Enclose the top of the appliance with a sec-
ond wooden panel, after previously drilling openings for the fumes outlet duct, the mains power cable and the fastening screws (Fig. 9).
The bottom of the hood (H) must be situated at a minimum height of 65 cm above electric hobs and 70 cm above gas hobs (Fig. 10).
Replacement of mains power cable
The mains power cable may only be replaced by qualified technical service personnel.
