Handling the glossy finish of the TV
The glossy finish of the TV scratches easily.
z Protection films have been pasted onto the glossy finish of the TV to prevent scratches.
Peel off the films after the TV has been placed properly.
z If the glossy finish gets dirty, clear the dust off the glossy finish first. Then wipe softly with
the cleaning cloth provided. If you do not clear the dust first, or you wipe the glossy finish
too hard, or a cleaning cloth other than the one provided is used, the glossy finish may
be scratched.

Follow this manual regarding setup!
z Connect only to a 220 - 240 V, 50 Hz AC
outlet.
Make enough room for inserting and removing the power plug!
Place the TV as close to the outlet as possible!
z Even if the TV’s power lamp is unlit, the
main power supply is not cut off unless the power cord is unplugged. The main power supply for this TV is controlled by inserting or removing the power plug.
Never cut or damage the power cord!
z If the power plug is not the
right shape, or the power cord is not long enough, use an appropriate plug adapter or extension cable. (Consult your retailer.)
z If you have cut or damaged
the power cord.

Before reading this manual
Read the separate user manual (INSTRUCTIONS), “IMPORTANT” section (P. 3 - 4), and understand how to use the TV safely. After that follow the instructions in the “PREPARE” section (P. 5 - 16) to connect the aerial and other external devices to the TV, and configure the settings for the TV.
This manual only provides information on watching digital channels. Other information is explained in the “INSTRUCTIONS”. Please read both this manual and the “INSTRUCTIONS” manual.

Basic connections

Please read the user manuals of each device carefully before setup. It is necessary to connect an aerial to watch TV.

Subscribe to a broadcasting company beforehand. A Viewing Card (B) will be sent by the broadcasting company after subscribing to it. It may be necessary for you to purchase a CAM (Conditional Access Module) (A) in addition to the Viewing Card. Consult your broadcasting company or retailer.

When the TV cannot find the digital channels
Check the following points
z Is the TV connected correctly to the aerial? z Change the direction of the indoor aerial. z Is there a digital channels transmission tower nearby?
g Turn “Attenuator” to “On” (P. 38), since the radio waves are too strong.
Note
z “Attenuator” attenuates the radio waves of analogue broadcast as well as those of digital broadcast. If
some noise or snow appears when watching an analogue channel, please set “Attenuator” to “Off” temporarily.

If you still cannot watch digital channels after following the steps above, there may be a problem
with your aerial or its cable. Or, the signal may be too weak. g Consult your retailer

When the digital channel reception is poor
The “Missing or weak signal” message appears.
Check the following points
z Is the TV connected correctly to the aerial? z Change the direction of the indoor aerial. z Is there a digital channels transmission tower nearby?
gTurn “Attenuator” to “On” (P. 38), since the radio waves are too strong.
Note
z “Attenuator” attenuates the radio waves of analogue broadcast as well as those of digital broadcast. If
some noise or snow appears when watching an analogue channel, please set “Attenuator” to “Off” temporarily.
You can check the broadcast signal level of the channel you are watching using “Signal Check”.
