Main Features
1. Newly developed 3-CCD camera system offers a
wider range of color reproduction
Using a 3-CCD camera system with three
1.33-megapixel*
3
CCDs, the color reproduction ability
has been substantially improved. After a prism refracts
the images captured by the lens into the three basic
colors of red, green, and blue, image capture is carried
out by each of the color-dedicated CCDs.
*3: 3 x 690,000 effective pixels for video, and 3 x 1,230,000 pixels for stills
2. Digital media camera with the world’s best*1 5-mega class still performance
By using high precision image processing technology based on 3-CCD, this
home-use camcorder offers the world’s largest 5-mega class still picture memory.
Furthermore, users can enjoy clear, beautiful photo prints thanks to JVC’s
proprietary Megabrid Imaging Engine that performs separate high-resolution
processing especially for stills, in addition to processing designed for video.
3. World’s smallest and lightest*
2
compact unit
As a 3-CCD home camcorder with a one inch hard disk, it offers the world’s smallest
and lightest compact unit for superior portability, as well as ample memory for longer
video recording time. With a compact size that makes it easy to carry anywhere at
anytime, users can easily capture everyday or travel scenes in high resolution.
4. A full range of functions to faithfully capture images
z Scene Modes to capture various image situations
z Manual Focus Ring to allow for quick, precise focusing
z Auto Exposure Bracketing to capture a range of three
exposures with a single push of the trigger button
Development Concepts
New categories are emerging today in the digital camcorder market, and instead of just
videotape, memory cards or DVDs are being used for the storage media. In order to
accommodate the transforming market, JVC launched the Everio series using a hard
disk as storage media in November 2004. This series is well received for its
high-resolution extended recording time, highly portable compact size, easy operation
through random access, and superior PC compatibility. It has even created a new
product category called the “digital media camera”; a kind of Hard Disk Camcorder.
With this launch of the GZ-MC500 model featuring the 3-CCD 5-mega camera system,
JVC strengthened this camcorder lineup. Thanks to the world’s ultimate 3CCD 5-mega
1
class*
still performance, and a high-capacity video memory, this camera allows users
2
to easily enjoy taking high quality images whenever and wherever they like.
Other Features
1. Easy and convenient, handy and reliable picture taking, thanks to the hard
disk recording media
z Since it automatically starts from empty space on the disk, there is no risk of
recording over previously taken pictures.
z Any unwanted scenes during filming can be deleted on the spot.
z No need for troublesome rewinding or fast forwarding. It has an index function
so that a desired scene can be quickly selected and replayed from a collection
of thumbnail images.
z Easy scene deletion or rearranging and other basic editing for playback can be
performed using the Playlist Video Clip Playback editing function.
z Thanks to the double card slot, still image data can be easily transferred or
copied using the provided 4GB Microdrive
®
card that contains a one inch
removable hard disk drive, or a separately sold compact flash card or SD
memory card.
2. PictBridge support allows direct printing of images without a PC
Since the camera supports PictBridge, it can be connected via the USB terminal to a
compatible printer to easily print stills directly from the camera.
3. Software package for easy and original image production: from video editing
to disk writing
The accompanying software application for easy DVD recording and real video
editing allows users to enjoy making their own unique DVDs with ease.
4. A built-in pop-up flash allows bright picture taking even in dark locations
5. Wide-screen Video mode for high-resolution 16 x 9 video shooting
