CAUTION #1: Do not open the RT-REL enclosure or attempt to
perform any service on this device.
CAUTION #2: The RT-REL is designed to operate on 120 volts,
60 hertz. Operation with any voltage or frequency other than
that can damage the equipment and create an unsafe situation.
CAUTION #3: The RT-REL should be installed and used with only
in a manner described in this document.
CAUTION #4: Do not expose the RT-REL to moisture or salty air.
Doing so could cause significant damage and create an unsafe
condition.
Plug the power cord of the RT-REL into a switched AC outlet to
sense the presence of 120VAC and latch a SPST, normally open
relay. The relay contacts are made across a two position barrier
strip on the outside of the RT-REL enclosure. This is a dry contact which will stay closed as long as there is current through
the power cord. There should be no voltage on this terminal.
The RT-REL can be used with any product that needs a contact
closure to activate, including the Juice Goose CQR-1500, RT-15
and RT-5. Other applications include activation of an amplifier or
other audio or video equipment that may return to a standby
mode when not active.
A common use for the RT-REL is to extend a remote control from
the switched outlet on a rack mounted power strip, sequencer or
some other electronic component such as an audio receiver or
amplifier. For example, when plugged into the switched outlet on
a Juice Goose JG Series power strip the RT-REL can be used to
activate an AC power circuit in a remote location using the CQR1500, RT-15 or RT-5.
