INSTALLATION
REMOTE CONTROL
The remote control terminal should be connected to a latching switch
at the desired remote location. This remote switch should provide
only a dry contact closure, without voltage. The RT-5 contains a 12
VAC power supply inside the chassis to provide coil latching power
for the control relay. No external power supplies are needed other
than any required to operate remote control or alarm contacts. In
this configuration the remote contact closure will cause the RT-5 to
turn on. Opening this contact will cause the RT-5 to turn off.
EMERGENCY ALARM SHUTDOWN
Should it be desired that the RT-5 be forced off in the event of a fire
or other similar alarm, the contact terminal should be connected to a
relay that is held closed in non-alarm conditions. When this contact
opens the RT-5 will turn off.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
The RT-5 is ruggedly constructed from high quality components to
give years of dependable power for your equipment. In the unlikely
event of poor performance, however, the following checklist is included to aid diagnosing a problem.
UNIT WILL NOT TURN ON
- Check that the unit is plugged in.
- Check the circuit breaker. In cases of malfunction or current overload the circuit breaker will open. After a brief period, the
circuit breaker can be reset by pushing in the breaker button. If this
problem repeats check that the current requirement of the equipment plugged into the 120 VAC outlet is not greater than 15 amps.
- Check the remote contact closure is being made. Operation
of the RT-5 can be checked by making local contact across the two
terminal positions. If this contact causes the RT-5 to turn on, the
fault is likely with the remote control switch or the wiring to it.
SERVICE
Should your unit require service, contact Juice Goose to receive a
service authorization number. This number will allow us to track
your returned unit. Please note that no returns will be accepted
without such a number.

REMOTE TURN-ON & TURN-OFF
POWER CENTER
The RT-5 provides a convenient means to remote control a
single component or power strip with a maximum twelve (12)
amp* load. A two position terminal strip on the front connects
to a remote, latching contact closure. This activation design
also allows incorporation of an emergency alarm triggered
turn off. (*The RT-5 has a 15 amp rated circuit breaker and 15
amp rated components.)
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
The RT-5 is designed to operate on 120 volts, 60 hertz. Operation
with any voltage or frequency other than that can damage the equipment and create an unsafe situation.
CAUTION #1: The RT-5 must be grounded. If a power extension cord is
required, use a properly insulated and grounded cord. Failure to
ground the device could expose user to dangerous electric shock.
CAUTION #2: The RT-5 should be installed and used with only appropriate mounting hardware in a manner described in this document.
CAUTION #3: Do not expose the RT-5 to moisture or salty air. Doing
so could cause significant damage and create an unsafe condition.
