JET JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw

The JET JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw was designed to bring
our super rigid triangular frame technology and a large
capacity to the mid-size band saw market. With a full 16”
throat capacity and a built-in 10” resaw capacity, the JET
JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw easily handles your wood shop
projects right out of the box!

Frame and Cabinets

The JET JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw is built around our
super-rigid triangular column technology that reduces
rotational deflections by an amazing 65% over the common box type construction.

Unlike the traditional two­piece cast iron frames, this one
piece triangular steel column
runs the full height of the JET
JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw.
That substantially increases its
ability to resist the forces of
blade tension.

Our unique triangular steel column (left) eliminates 65% of rotational

deflections as compared to the common box construction. Even our

cabinet doors (right) have been given a gentle curve that makes them

more rigid and more attractive.

The upper and lower cabinets
are made from heavy gauge
steel that is precisely formed

and then fully welded to the
triangular column. This heavy-duty cabinet construction provides an exceptionally stable
platform for the blade wheel mounts, tensioning and drive systems.

The all-steel cabinet doors have a curved face that increases their rigidity as well as their
appearance. The doors also have a foam strip
at the front edge that along with the rotating
cam lock knob keeps the doors firmly closed
and rattle-free during operation.

The lower cabinet has a dust brush mounted
against the wheel to help prevent buildup on
that tire. We located the brush directly in
front of the large dust port so that the material
swept from the wheel is evacuated from the
cabinet. On the outside of the cabinet is a 4”-

We recommend using a dust collector with a minimum 400CFM (cubic feet per minute)
capacity to make full use of the JET JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw dust system.

The JET JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw stands on a heavy-duty 27”-wide by 21-1/2”-deep
base that keeps it exceptionally stable during use. The base has pre-drilled holes in each
corner that make it easy to secure the JET JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw to the floor.

Motor

The JET JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw is powered by a
strong running JET 1-1/2HP, 115/230V (prewired
115V), TEFC (totally enclosed, fan cooled) motor.

power delivered during use. This is a far more
precise way of rating motor power than the “peak”
or “max developed” ratings some other
manufacturers still use.

Motor power is transmitted to the lower wheel
through a V-belt and pulley system that generates the 3000 SFPM (surface feet per
minute) blade speed. That blade speed works very well with most blade widths, tooth
designs and material thicknesses. The motor and the belt tension mechanism are located
outside of the lower cabinet where access is easy.

Wheels and Tension

The JET JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw
features cast iron, 16 5/8”-diameter,
8-spoke wheels. These wheels are
precision machined and computer
balanced so their weight adds a
flywheel effect to smooth the cutting
action without inducing vibration.

Both wheels run on high-quality, large diameter ball bearings that insure smooth
operation over the long haul. The upper wheel is on a simple tracking mount that is
controlled by a single knob that makes centering all compatible blade widths fast and
easy. The JET JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw is designed to use blades between 1/8” to 1 ½”
wide!

Blade Guides

The upper and lower blade guide assemblies feature European style wheels to control
side-to-side play of the blade. These guide wheels are made from carbide to insure a long
life. At the rear of the blade (upper and lower guide assemblies) ball bearings are used to
control thrust forces.

All of the blade guides are micro adjustable and tool free. They are
designed to provide exacting control without increasing friction that
could accelerate blade wear. Both guide assemblies are designed to
accommodate the full 1/8” to 1-½” blade widths that the JET JWBS­16B 16" Band Saw is designed to use. We include a ¾”, 6 TPI (teeth
per inch) blade so you can start working right out of the box!

Upper Guide Post

The upper guide post is exceptionally rigid to provide solid support
throughout its 11-inch travel for consistent accuracy. The JET JWBS­16B 16" Band Saw post is raised and lowered using a rack and pinion
system that makes this an effortless, highly precise adjustment. A
large cast iron handwheel on the front of the upper cabinet operates
the rack and pinion drive. A knob on the rear of the cabinet locks the
upper post at any height. We added an easy-to-read scale with an
adjustable pointer on the front of the upper cabinet that makes

The guide post uses a one-piece blade guard. This guard runs the full length of the post to
help keep you safe regardless of the cut height.

Spacious Table

The large 17" x 17" cast iron table provides
plenty of support for the big jobs. The table
tilts up to 45-degrees to the right and up to
10-degrees to the left. A pair of locking
knobs beneath the table secures it at any
angle. A scale on the operator’s side table
trunnion lets you set specific angles quickly.

Accessories

We offer a group of specially designed accessories for the JET JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw
that let you enhance its performance according to your needs.

A full roller bearing guide set (#708746) replaces the standard upper and lower guides. A
rip fence kit (#708747) mounts into predrilled and tapped holes in the table to enhance
straight line cutting. We also offer a miter gauge (#708748) that is designed to fit the JET
JWBS-16B 16" Band Saw miter slot.
