Congratulations on your choice of a Jenn-Air Microwave Oven. Your microwave oven
has an output wattage of 900 watts. As you use your new microwave oven, we know
you will appreciate the many features that provide excellent performance, convenience
and dependability.
Before you begin cooking with your new microwave oven, please take a few minutes to
read and become familiar with the instructions in this book. On the following pages you
will find a wealth of information regarding all aspects of using your new microwave oven.
By following the instructions carefully, you will be able to fully enjoy and properly maintain
your oven and achieve excellent results with the food you prepare.

When usingelectrical appliances, basic safety precautionsshould befollowed,
includingthe following:
WARNING- To reduce the riskof burns,electric shock, fire, injuryto persons or
exposure to excessive microwave energy;
1. Read all instructions beforeusing the appliance.
2. Read and follow the specific "PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE
EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY"found on page 7.
3. Thisappliance mustbegrounded. Connectonlytoproperlygroundedoutlet.
See "GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS" on page 8.
4. Install orlocate this appliance inaccordance with the provided installation
instructions.
5. Some products such as whole eggs andsealed containers - for example,
closedglass jars - may explode and should notbe heated in this oven. In
rare instances,poachedeggshave beenknown to explode. Cover poached
eggs and allow astanding time of oneminute before cutting into them.
6. Foods with unbroken outer "skin" such as potatoes, sausages, tomatoes,
apples, chicken livers and other giblets, and egg yolks (see previous
caution) should be pierced to allow steam to escape during cooking.
"Boilable" cooking pouches and tightly closed plastic bags should be slit,
pierced, or vented.
7. Do not heat, storeor useflammable materialsin or near the oven. Fumes
can create a fire hazard or explosion.
8. Use this appliance onlyfor its intendeduseas described inthis manual.Do
not usecorrosive chemicals or vapors in this appliance. This type of oven
is specificallydesigned to heat, cook,or defrost food. It is not designedfor
industrial, laboratory,or commercial use. It isintended for home useonly.
Do not use for drying clothes, linens, newspaper, or similar non-food type
items.
9. As with any appliance, close supervision is necessary when used by
children.
10. Do notoperate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not
working properly, or if it has been damaged or dropped.
11. This appliance should be serviced only by qualified service personnel.
Contact nearestauthorized Jenn-Air service facilityfor examination,repair
or adjustment.
12. Donot cover or block any openings on the appliance.

13. DOnotuse outdoors. Donotusethis productnear water-forexample, near
a kitchen sink,in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool, and the like.
14. Do notimmerse cord or plug in water.
15. Keepcord away from heated surfaces.
16. Do notlet cord hang over edge of table orcounter.
17. Whencleaning surfaces ofdoorand oventhatcometogether onclosing the
door,useonlymild, non-abrasivesoapsor detergentsappliedwithasponge
or soft cloth.
18. To reduce the risk offire [nthe oven cavity:
a. Do not overcook food, Carefully attendappliance if paper, plastic, or
other combustible materials are placed inside the oven to facilitate
cooking. Avoid using recycled paperproducts. Do notuse newspaper
or other printed paper in the oven. Such products sometimes contain
impurities which could ignite.
b. Removewire twist-ties from paperor plasticbags beforeplacing bagin
oven.
c. If materialsinsidethe oven should ignite, keep oven door closed,turn
oven off, and disconnect the powercord, orshut off power atthe fuse
or circuit breakerpanel.
d. Do not use the oven for storage.
e. De not pop popcorn except ina microwave approved popcornpopper
or in a commercial package recommended especially for microwave
ovens.
19. Do notoperate the oven when empty.
20. Donot leanonthe oven door. The dooris designedto closetightly and seal
properly for safe operation. Leaning on the door may warp or break the
hinges.
21. To avoid exposure to dangerous high voltage, DO NOT REMOVE THE
OUTERCASE orthe plastic stirrercover insidethe ovencavity.
22. Donotstoremetal oven rackinoven, Usetherack onlywhen cookingmore
than onedish. Do not use microwave browningdish onthe shelf; the shelf
couldoverheat.
23. Liquidsheated incertain shaped containers (especially cylindrical-shaped
containers)may becomeoverheated, splashout withaloud noise. Forbest
results, stir the liquid several times before heating. Always stir liquids
several times betweenreheatings.
24. Readand follow specific microwaveoven preparation instructionsonfood
packages or containers (especially baby food), Above all, this Lsacooking
appliance designed to preparefood.
25. Useonly cooking utensils and accessoriesmade for usein the microwave
and specifically described in this manual.
26. Microwaveoven manufacturers donot recommend deepfat frying orfrying
in amicrowave oven. Hotoilcandamageoven parts and utensilsandeven
result in skin burns.
2"7.Plastic wrap: Use only those types designed for microwave oven use and
avoidforming anair-tight seal. Fold back a small corner or cut a small slit
to allow steam to escape.
:)8. Stay near the appliance while it is in use and check cooking progress
frequently. Leavingthe applianceunattendedmay resultinovercookedfood
and possibly a fire inyour oven.
29. Built-in Installations: (Microwave must be built-in with a trim kit.) Do not
mount any portion ofthe microwave oven over a sinkor any other heating
orcookingapplianceunlessthemicrowave ovenhasbeenapproved foruse
above theheating appliance. See labelon the trim kitfor a list ofapproved
heating appliances. See installation instructions for additional installation
information.
30. Usemetalonly asdirected inthecookbook. TVdinners maybemicrowaved
in foiltrays lessthan 3/4"deep; remove top foil coverandreturn tray to box.
When usingmetal in microwaveoven, keep metal(otherthan metal shelf)
at least 1-inchaway from sides of oven.
31. Do notdefrost frozen beverages in narrow necked bottles.
32. Cookware may become hot because of heat transferred from the heated
food. Pot holders may be needed to handle the cookware.
33. Do nottry to melt paraffin wax in the oven. Paraffin wax will not melt in a
microwave oven because itallows microwaves to pass through it.
- SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS -
1. Do not operatethe microwave oven when empty or withan empty utensil.
2. Never use sharp+edgedutensilsin or near the oven.
3. Do NOT use white ceramic browning dish in this oven. Highheat from the
underside of thedish can permanently scorch the oven turntable.
4. Dyes used in mLcrowavepopcorn bags can discolor the oven's turntable.
Beforemicrowaving, placethe popcorn bag on a microwave-safe dish.
a. Do net attempt to operate this oven with the door open since open door
operation can result in harmful exposure tomicrowave energy. It is important
not to defeat or tamper with the safety interlocks.
b. Do not place any object between the oven front face and the door or allow
soil or cleaner residue to accumulate on sealing surfaces.
c. Do not operate the oven if itis damaged. It is particularly important that the
oven door close properly and that there is nodamage to the: (1) door (bent),
(2) hinges and latches (broken or loosened), (3) door seals and sealing
surfaces.
d. The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except properly
qualified service personnel.
Federal law requires registration of all microwave ovens. To comply with the taw,
please fill out the CUSTOMER REGISTRATION CARD packaged in the oven:
1. Check the model and serial numbers on the card to see that they match the
numbers on the rating label. Rating label is located on the leftinside wall ofthe
oven cavity. Ifthe numbers onthe card are not the same as those on the rating
label cross out the numbers on the card and write inthe numbers as they appear
on the rating label.
2. Mail the card. The return address is included on the reverse side of card.
If you move or are not the original owner of this oven, you must by law renew the
registration. Send the renewal registration information to: Meytag Customer
Service, Warranty Administration, P.O. Box 4970, Cleveland, TN 37320-4970.
Renewal Registration information must provide: a) Your name and address and
b) the microwave oven's model and serial numbers.
Removeall packing materials bothoutside and inside the oven before using the oven.
The oven requiresfree movement of airfor properoperation. Do NOT block air vents
locatedacross the top and underneath the oven. Also, do not removethe feet from the
bottom of the oven.
IGroundingInstruct I
This appliance must begrounded. Inthe event of anelectrical short circuit, grounding
reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current.
This appliance is equipped with a cord having a grounding wire with a grounding plug.
The plug must be plugged into a 120v, 15 amp. outlet that is properly installed and
grounded.
WARNING- Improper use of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock.
Consult a qualified electrician or serviceman if the grounding instructions are not
completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly
grounded and either:
1) If it isabsolutely necessary to use an extension cord, use only a 3-wire extension
cordthat has a3-blade grounding plug, anda 3slot receptaclethat will accept the
plug on the appliance. The marked rating of the extension cord shall be equal to
or greater than the electrical rating of the appliance. Or,
2) Donot useanextension cord. Ifthe powersupply cordis too short, havea qualified
electrician or serviceman install an outlet near the appliance
Microwaveovensgenerate radio frequency energyduring operation, and if notinstalled
properly may cause interferenceto radio and television reception. You can determine
if this unit is causing interference by turning it on and off while the interference is
occurring. If interference occurs it may be corrected by one or more of the following
measures:
• clean door and sealing surfaces of the oven;
• reorient the receiving antenna;
• relocate the oven with respect to the receiver; and/or
• plug the oven into a different outlet so that it and the receiver are on different
circuits.
If the interference persists, you may want to consult an experienced radio/television
technician for additional suggestions.
