please read these operating instructions very carefully.

FEATURES

This unit is radio-interference suppressed. This appliance meets the requirements of the
current European and national guidelines. Conformity has been established and the
relevant statements and documents have been deposited by the manufacturer.

there be any, do not use the device and consult your dealer first.

This device left our factory in perfect condition and well packaged. It is

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

y The PSX-12A can easily reproduce sound pressure levels (SPL) sufficient enough to

cause sever and permanent hearing damage. Always protect your ears when you are
exposed to SPL in excess of 85dB!

y Even if the speaker cabinet is made of water resistant material, the woofer and tweeter

are not protected against humid and rain. Therefore this speaker is intended for indoor
use only, use of this product outdoors, in humid conditions, voids all warranties.

y Always mount this speaker in safe and stable matter.
y Take special care when the cabinets are suspended. This is potentially dangerous and

should only be carried out by technicians who have perfect knowledge of the techniques
and regulations of rigging speakers!

This symbol means: indoor use only.

• To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture.

• To avoid condensation to be formed inside, allow the unit to adapt to the surrounding

temperatures when bringing it into a warm room after transport. Condense sometimes
prevents the unit from working at full performance or may even cause damages.

• This unit is for indoor use only.

• Don’t place metal objects or spill liquid inside the unit. No objects filled with liquids, such

as vases, shall be placed on this appliance. Electric shock or malfunction may result. If a
foreign object enters the unit, immediately disconnect the mains power.

• No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the appliance.

• Don’t cover any ventilation openings as this may result in overheating.

• Prevent use in dusty environments and clean the unit regularly.

• Keep the unit away from children.

• Inexperienced persons should not operate this device.

• Maximum save ambient temperature is 45°C. Don’t use this unit at higher ambient

temperatures.

• Always unplug the unit when it is not used for a longer time or before you start servicing.

• The electrical installation should be carried out by qualified personal only, according to

the regulations for electrical and mechanical safety in your country.

• Check that the available voltage is not higher than the one stated on the rear panel of the
unit.

• The socket inlet shall remain operable for disconnection from the mains.

• The power cord should always be in perfect condition: switch the unit immediately off

when the power cord is squashed or damaged.

• Never let the power-cord come into contact with other cables!

• This appliance must be earthed to in order comply with safety regulations.

The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within the equilateral triangle is
intended to alert the use or the presence of un-insulated “dangerous voltage”
within the product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a
risk of electric shock.
The exclamation point within the equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to
the presence of important operation and maintenance (servicing) instructions in
the literature accompanying this appliance.

CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electric shock, do
not remove the top cover. No user-serviceable parts
inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel
only.

CONTROLS AND CONNECTIONS

CABLES TO BE USED

For the line level in/outputs you can use readymade XLR-cables such as our JB
SYSTEMS codes 7-0063 (5m) or 7-0067 (10m). Other lengths are also available.

For the speaker output:

codes 2-0505 (5m). Of course you can also assemble the speaker cables yourself. Take
care to use good quality speaker cable with at least 2x 2.5mm² conductors. You will also
need a pair of Neutrik Speakon® NL4FC connectors. This connector has 4contacts: +1 -1
+2 -2. Only use the +1 and -1 contacts. Your speaker cable has 2 conductors with different
colors. Be sure to connect the same color on each side of the cable to the corresponding
contact! (+1 to +1 and -1 to -1).

If you inverse the conductors, poor sound quality with a lack of low frequencies will
be the result.

1. MICROPHONE LEVEL: Used to set the input level of the microphone input (5).

2. LINE LEVEL: Used to set the input level of the line input (6)

3. TONE CONTROLS: Used to adjust the treble and bass of the master signal.

4. MASTER LEVEL: Used to set the overall volume of the amplifier. Always set the

master level to zero when you switch the cabinet on, after this turn up the volume to the
desired level.

5. MICROPHONE INPUT: This input accepts both balanced and unbalanced
microphones. You can use both ¼”jack and male 3pin-XLR connectors.

Attention: To prevent damage to the tweeters of your speaker cabinet, please set the micro input level
(1) to zero before you connect the microphone. Once connected you can turn the level up to the desired
level.

6. LINE INPUT: This input accepts both balanced and unbalanced line level signals. The
output makes it possible to connect several speaker cabinets to the same line output of
a mixer.

7. SPEAKER OUTPUT: you can connect a second “passive” speaker cabinet to this
Speakon output. Connections are +1 and -1.

Attention: This output only supports 8Ω loads!!! Never connect a 4Ω speaker or more than one 8Ω
speaker cabinet to this output! This can damage the built-in amplifier.

8. POWER SWITCH: Used to switch the internal amplifier on/off. The LED will turn on
when the cabinet is switched on.

9. FUSE HOLDER: houses a slow blow 20mm glass fuse.

10. MAINS INPUT: use the supplied power cable to connect the speaker cabinet to the
230V wall outlet socket.

11. MAINS OUTPUT: with a special IEC male/female power cable you can supply 230V
mains voltage to a second powered PSX-speaker cabinet.

REMARK: while the cabinet is in use, you will see a blue LED blinking on the front side of

the PSX-12A. This makes it possible to check from a distance if the cabinet amplifier is
switched on and receives an audio signal.

RIGGING POINTS

The PSX-12A cabinets have 4 rigging points
using M8 inserts. These can be used to
suspend (fly) the cabinet in the air. For this
purpose you can use heavy duty eyebolts
with metric M8 thread. In most cases 2
cables will be attached to the top and one is
used to pull up the back.
Anyway always take special care when the
cabinets are suspended. This is potentially
dangerous and should only be carried out by
technicians who have perfect knowledge of the techniques and regulations of rigging
speakers!

STAND ADAPTER

The PSX-cabinets also have a stand adapter on the bottom that can be used to put the
cabinet on a proper and stable speaker stand. Examples of proper Speaker Stands are our
SS-58, SS-AIR, LS-64, … . Tighten the screw of the stand adapter to prevent the speaker
from rotating during use.

MONITOR ADAPTERS

The PSX-cabinets are supplied with a pair of monitor stand
adapters. You can use these to put the cabinet in monitor
position on a stage. Just position the adapters as shown on the
drawing: they will perfectly fit in the holes on the back and side
of the cabinet.

MAINTENANCE

Clean the cabinet with a sponge and some non aggressive soap solution. Don’t use any
chemical solvents as they attack the enclosure!

AVANT L’UTILISATION

• Avant d’utiliser cet appareil, assurez-vous de l’absence de dommage lié au transport. En

cas d’endommagement, n’utilisez pas l’appareil et contactez le vendeur.

• Important: Cet appareil a quitté notre usine en parfaite condition et bien emballé. Il est

primordial que l’utilisateur suive les instructions de sécurité et avertissements inclus dans
ce manuel. La garantie ne s’applique pas en cas de dommage lié à une utilisation
incorrecte. Le vendeur ne prend pas la responsabilité des défauts ou de tout problème
résultant du fait de n’avoir pas tenu compte des mises en garde de ce manuel.

• Conservez ce manuel dans un endroit sûr pour toute consultation future. Si vous vendez

l’appareil, assurez-vous d’y joindre ce manuel également.

• Afin de protéger l’environnement, merci de recycler les emballages autant que possible.

FRANÇAIS MODE D’EMPLOI

INSTRUCTIONS DE SECURITE:

• La PSX-12A peut facilement atteindre des niveaux de pression acoustique (SPL) très
élevés qui peuvent gravement endommager l’ouïe de façon permanente. Protégez
toujours vos oreilles si vous vous exposez à des niveaux de pression acoustique (SPL)
excédant 85dB!

• Bien que l’enceinte soit fabriquée en une matière résistant à l’eau, les diffuseurs de
hautes et basses fréquences ne le sont pas ! Le woofer et le tweeter ne sont pas
protégés contre l’humidité et la pluie. De ce fait, l’enceinte est uniquement conçue pour
une utilisation à l’intérieur. L’utilisation dans des conditions humides en plein-air annule
toutes les garanties

• Installez toujours cette enceinte dans des conditions de sécurité et de stabilité optimales.

• Soyez très prudents si les enceintes doivent être suspendues. Ceci est potentiellement

dangereux. Il est indispensable que ce type d’installation soit effectué par des
techniciens ayant une parfaite connaissance des techniques et des réglementations
concernant la suspension d’enceintes!

Ce symbole signifie: uniquement pour usage à l'intérieur

• Afin d’éviter tout risque d’incendie ou de choc électrique, ne pas exposer cet appareil à
la pluie ou l’humidité.

• Pour éviter la formation de condensation à l’intérieur de l’appareil, patientez quelques
minutes pour laisser l’appareil s’adapter à la température ambiante lorsqu’il arrive dans
une pièce chauffée après le transport. La condensation empêche l’unité de fonctionner
en performance optimale et peut même causer des dommages.

• Cette unité est destinée à une utilisation à l’intérieur uniquement.

• Ne pas insérer d’objet métallique ou verser un liquide dans l’appareil. Aucun objet rempli

de liquides, tels que des vases, ne sera placé sur cet appareil. Risque de choc électrique
ou de dysfonctionnement. Si un corps étranger est introduit dans l’unité, déconnectez
immédiatement de la source d’alimentation.

• Aucune source de flamme nue, telle que les bougies allumées, ne devrait être placée sur
l'appareil.

• Ne pas couvrir les ouvertures de ventilation, un risque de surchauffe en résulterait.

• Ne pas utiliser dans un environnement poussiéreux et nettoyez l’unité régulièrement.

• Ne pas laisser l’unité à portée des enfants.

• Les personnes non expérimentées ne doivent pas utiliser cet appareil.

• La température ambiante maximum d’utilisation de l’appareil est de 45°C. Ne pas

l’utiliser au-delà de cette température.

• Débranchez toujours l’appareil si vous ne l’utilisez pas de manière prolongée ou avant
d’entreprendre des réparations.

CAUTION

l’appareil que vous pouvez remplacer vous-même. Confiez l’entretien uniquement
aux techniciens qualifiés.
La flèche dans un triangle met l'utilisateur en garde de la présence de haut
voltage sans isolation dans l'appareil qui peut causer un risque d'électrocution.
Un point d'exclamation dans un triangle prévient de la présence d'instructions de
fonctionnement et de maintenance se trouvant dans le manuel, fourni avec
l'appareil.

ATTENTION: afin de réduire le risque
d’électrocution, n’enlevez jamais le couvercle de
l’appareil. Il n’y a aucune pièce à l’intérieur de
