1 STAMPING VALVE BODY
Objective: Stamping imprint onto valve body
Place thermal valve body into vise and secure tightly. Figure 1.1
Using stamp tool, place in proper location shown in Figure 1.2. After stamp is in set location, hit with
hammer so imprint is clearly visible on valve. Figure 1.2 and Figure 1.3

2 INSERT THERMAL CARTRIDGE AND CHECK STOPS
Objective: insert thermal cartridge and check stops.
INSPECTION
Make sure that the J-TH34 cartridge is used. The difference
between the J-TH34 and the J-THVC12 is identified in Figure 2.2

Inspect the thermal cartridge to ensure the black tic mark on
temperature control rod is aligned with the largest spline on the plastic cart housing on body of cartridge is aligned. A small indent in splines may exist which can also be used for alignment. Exaggerate the alignment by drawing a black line as shown. Figure 2.3
Spray ports on right, left, center with cooking spray to reduce
damage to rubber seal seats and O-rings on cartridge and check stops. Figure 2.1
Align large spine to north (12 o-clock) position, then insert
cartridge into center of thermal body by pushing down with firm pressure.
Inspect hot and cold check stops for rubber O-ring on upper and
lower section of check stop. Next check that the gaskets on each side, and the spring washer and seal are in place. Figure 2.5
Insert the hot check stop marked (H) into the hot water inlet,
ensure the open arrow is aligned and oriented toward the center thermal cartridge. Press in place. Figure 2.6
Insert the cold check stop marked (C) into the cold water inlet,
ensure the open arrow is aligned and oriented toward the center thermal cartridge. Press in place. Figure 2.6
