ThefollowingsareveryimportantforthecorrectmanagementandeconomicuseofJACvehicles,andtheyshallberead carefullybeforeuseandmaintenance.
Nameplate
ThenameplateislocatedneartheVIN,onwhichitmarkedwithinformation aboutthevehicle,suchasitsvehiclemodel,enginemodel,ex-worksdate, etc.
Chassisnumber
Thechassisnumber,thatisVINcodenumber,isstampedontheoutersideof therightlongeronendoftheframe.
Overload
Overloadingwillshortenvehicle'sservicelife,butalsobringaboutpotential risktosafedriving. Theloadingmassmustbelimitedtothespecifiedrangeofthemax.totalmass forvehicle,andtheloaddistributionsonthefrontandrearshaftsshallnotbe morethanthecarryingcapacityofthevehicleshafts.Pleaserefertothetechni calspecificationsheetfortheratedtotalmassvalueandshaftloadingcapacity.

2.BEFOREDRIVINGYOURJAC
BREAKINGINYOURVEHICLE
Operatethevehicleatmoderatespeedsduringthefirst1,000km(600miles)tobreakitin.Makecertainthatthefollow ingpointsinparticulararestrictlyobserved.
Allowtheenginetowarmupfullyuntilthecoolanttemperaturereachesabout60(140℉).
Avoidracingtheengine,abruptstart,accelerationandbraking.
Avoidoverloadingthevehicle,asthiswillresultinashorterlife.
Avoidhighspeedoperationasfaraspossible.Duringbreak-inoperation,makesurethattheenginespeeddoesnot exceed1,500rpm. Makesurethatyourvehicledoesnotmissthefirst1,000km(600miles)and5,000km(2,500miles)inspections. Afterthefirst1,000km(600miles)and5,000km(2,500miles)ordriving,takeyourvehicletoyournearestserviceshop forinspectionsbasedonthe'MaintenanceRequirements'.

Forgreaterconvenience,yourJAChastwotypesofkeys.Themasterkeys(1) willfunctionintheignition,lockingorunlockingthedoorandfueltankcap fromoutside.Theelectrictiltingcapkeys(2)willbeusedforlockingorunlock ingtheelectrictiltingcapsystem (Ifinstalled).Carryingasparekeyisrecom mendedincaseyouaccidentallylockonekeyinsidethecar.

DOORLOCKS
1.Lockingusingthekey
Lockthedoorbyturningthekeytowardtherearofthecarandunlockitby turningittowardthefront.
CAUTION:
Becarefulnottolockthedoorwiththeignitionkeyleftinthevehicle.
2.Lockingfrominside
TolockyourJACfrominside,simplyclosethedoorandpushthelockbutton down. Whenthisisdone,thedoorcannotbeopenedusingeithertheinsideorthe outsidedoorhandle.

Thedoorscanbelockedwithoutakey. Firstpushthelockknobdown,thenclosethedoorwhiledepressingthepush buttonforward.
WINDOWGLASS
Toraiseorlowerthewindow,turnthewindow,regulatorhandleclockwiseor counterclockwise.
WARNING:
Whenopeningorclosingthewindows,makesureyourpassenger'sarmsand handsaresafelyoutoftheway.
CENTRALDOORLOCKS(Ifinstalled)
Thecentraldoorlockingsystemislocatedonthedriver'sdoorlockbutton.Itisoperatedbydepressingthedoorlock button.Ifthefrontdoorisopenwhenthebuttonisdepressed,thedoorwilllockwhenclosed.
NOTE:
Whenthefrontdoorlockbuttonisdepressed,thefrontdoorswilllock.When thefrontdoorlockbuttonIspulledup,thefrontdoorswillunlock.
POWERWINDOWS(Ifinstalled)
Thepowerwindowsoperatewhentheignitionkeyisinthe'ON'position.The mainswitchesarelocatedonthedriver'sdoorsideandcontrolthepassen ger'sside.Thewindowsmaybeopenedbydepressingtheappropriatewin dowswitchandclosedbypullingupontheswitch.Toopenthewindowonthe driver'sside,presstheswitch(1)halfwaydown.Thewindowsmovesaslong astheswitchisoperated.Tofullyopenthedriver'swindowautomatically, presstheswitchfullydown.Inautomaticoperation,thewindowwillfullyopen evenifyouletgooftheswitch.Tostopatthedesiredopening,pulluponand releasetheswitch.Inordertopreventoperationofthewindowbypassenger, awindowlockswitch(2)isprovidedonthedriver'sdoor.Therearetwotypes ofthepowerwindowswitch.Oneoperatesfor30secondsaftertheignition keyisturnedto"ACC'or'LOCK',butthepowerwindowglassdoesn'tmove whendoorsopen.

Tomovetheseattowardthefrontorrear,pullthelockreleaseleverupwards. Thisreleasestheseatonitstracksoyoucanmoveitforwardorrearwardto thedesiredposition.Whenyoufindthepositionyouwant,releasethelever andslidetheseatforwardorrearwardonitstrackuntilitlocksintoposition andcannotbemovedfurther.
SeatCushionHeightFixing(Driver'ssideonly)(Ifinstalled)
Tofixtheheightoftheseatcushion,fitthelockingknobtothelocker.Itwill holdyourseatpositionfromthevibration.

Toreclinetheseatback,leanforwardtoyou'reyourweightoffit,thenpullup onthereclinercontrolleverattheoutsideedgeoftheseat.Nowleanbackun tilthedesiredseatbackangleisachieved.Tolocktheseatbackintoposition, releasethereclinercontrollever.
WARNING:
Tominimizeriskofpersonalinjuryineventofacollisionorsuddenstop,both thedriverandpassengerseatbacksshouldalwaysbeinanearlyuprightposi tionwhilethevehicleisinmotion.Theprotectionprovidedbytheseatbelts maybereducedsignificantlywhentheseatbackisreclined.Thereisgreater riskthatthepassengerwillslideunderthebeltresultinginseriousinjurywhen theseatbackisreclined. TheheadrestsinyourJACmayberaisedorloweredbyreleasingthelock buttonontheheadrestsupport.Toraisetheheadrest,pullitup.Tolowerit, presstheheadrestdown.Tomovetheheadrestforeward,pullonthetop.For maximumeffectivenessincaseofanaccidenttheheadrestshouldbeadjust edsothetopoftheheadrestisatthesameheightasthetopofoccupant's ears.Forthisreason,theuseofacushionthatholdsthebodyawayfromthe seatbackshouldnotbeused.

SEATBELTS(3-PointType)
ToFastenYourBelt
Tofastenyourseatbelt,pullitoutoftheretractorandinsertthemetaltabinto thebuckle.Therewillbeanaudible"click,,whenthetablocksintothebuckle. Theseatbeltautomaticallyadjuststotheproperlengthonlyafterthelapbelt isadjustedmanuallysothatitfitssnuglyaroundyourhips.Ifyouleanforward inaslow,easymotion,thebeltwillextendandletyoumovearound.Ifthereis asuddenstoporimpact,however,thebeltwilllockintoposition.Itwillalso lockifyoutrytoleanforwardtooquickly. Checktomakesurethebeltisproperlylockedandthatthebeltisnottwisted.
NOTE:
Ifthedriver'sseatbeltisnotfastenedwhentheignitionkeyIsinthe"ON"posi tion,theseatbeltwarninglightwillflash.
AdjustingYourSeatBelt
Youshouldplacethebeltaslowaspossibleonyourhips,notonyourwaist.If locatedtoohighonyourbody,thechancesofslidingoutfromunderitand sufferingseriousinjuryordeathareincreased.Botharmsshouldnotbeunder oroverthebelt.Rather,oneshouldbeoverandtheotherunder,asshownin theillustration.
ToReleasetheSeatBelt
Theseatbeltisreleasedbypressingthereleasebuttoninthelockingbuckle. Whenitisreleased,thebeltshouldautomaticallydrawbackintotheretractor. Ifthisdoesnothappen,checkthebelttobesureitisnottwisted,thentryita gain.

Whentheignitionswitchisturnedon,theseatbeltwarninglightblinksfor5secondstoremindthedrivertoweartheir seatbelt.Ifthedriverfastenstheseatbeltwithin5seconds,thewarninglightgoesout.Whentheignitionswitchis turnedto"ACC"or"LOCK"position,thewarninglightwillalsogoout.
OILPRESSUREWARNINGLAMP
Thislampilluminateswhentheignitionswitchissettothe"ON"positionandgoesoffaftertheenginehasstarted.Ifit lightsupwhiletheengineisrunning,theenginemustbestoppedatonce.ContactthenearestauthorizedJACdealer.
ENGINEOVERHEATWARNINGLIGHT
Ifthecoolanttemperatureistoohighthiswarninglightwillbeon,ifthecoolantlevelisbelowthanthedesignedquantity thebuzzerwillsoundatthesameti-me.Atthistimepulloverandstopthevehicleassoonaspossibleandturnoffthe engine.Thencheckthecoolantlevel.Ifnecessary,addcoolant.Sameratioascoolantintheradiatorshouldbeadded.

Thebrakewarninglightwillbeilluminatedwhenoilleaksfromthebrakesystemorthebrakeperformancedroppeddue towearingbrakeshoe. Ifpossible,stopimmediatelyandcontactyourauthorizeddealer.
AIRPRESSUREWARNINGLIGHT
Whentheairpressureintheairreservoirdropped (below4.8-5.2kg/cm2)andtheengineisontheairpressurewarninglightcomesonandthebuzzersoundsatthe sametime.Thenstopdrivingyourvehicleimmediatelyandruntheengineatidle.Waituntiltheairpressuregetsback andthiswarninglightwillgoout.
CAUTION:
Ifthevehicleisdriveninconditionthatairpressurewarninglightcomeson,thisisverydangerous.Ifapressurerising timehasalonginterval,havetheairsystemcheckedandrepairedbyanauthorizeddealer.

TRUNSIGNALSWITCH
Pullingtheleverback(awayfromyou)causestheturnsignalstheleftsideof thevehicletoblink.Pushingtheleverforward(towardyou)causestheturn signalsontherightsideofthevehicletoblink.Astheturniscompleted,the leverwillautomaticallyreturntothecenterpositionandturnofftheturnsignals atthesametime.Ifeitherturnsignalindicatorlightblinksmorerapidlythan usual,goesonbutdoesnotblink,ordoesnotgoonatail,thereisamalfunc tioninthesystem.Checkforaburned-outfuseorbulboryou'reyourautho rizedJACdealer.

CAUTION:

AMandFMradiosignalsarebroadcastfromtransmittertowerslocated aroundyourcity.Theyareinterceptedbyethradioantennaonyourcar.This signalisthenreceivedbytheradioandsenttoyourcarspeakers. Whenastrongradiosignalhasreachedyourvehicle,thepreciseengineering ofyouraudiosystemensureshighqualityreproduction.However,insome casesthesignalcomingtoyourvehicleisnotstrongandclear.Thiscanbe duetofactorssuchasthedistancefromtheradiostation,closenessofother strongradiostationsorthepresenceofbuildings,bridgesorotherlargeob structionsinthearea.
AMsignalreceptionisusuallybetterthanFMreception.ThisisbecauseAM radiowavesaretransmittedatlowfrequency.Theselong,lowfrequencyradio wavescanfollowthecurvatureoftheearthratherthantravellingstraightoutin totheinosphere.Inaddition,theycurvearoundobstructionssothattheycan providebettersignalcoverage.Becauseofthis,clearAMbroadcastscanbe receivedatgreaterdistancesthanFMbroadcasts.
FMbroadcastsaretransmittedathighfrequencyanddonotbendtofollowthe earth'ssurface.Becauseofthis,FMbroadcastsgenerallybegintofadeat shortdistancesfromthestation.Also,FMsignalsareeasilyaffectedbybuild ings,mountains,orotherobstructions.Thesecanresultincertainlistening conditionswhichmightleadyoutobelieveaproblemexistswithyourradio. Thefollowingconditionsarenormalanddonotindicateradiotrouble:
Fading-Asyourcarmovesawayfromtheradiostation,thesignalwill weakenandsoundwillbegintofade.Whenthisoccurs,wesuggestthatyou selectanotherstrongerstation.
Flutter/Static-WeakFMsignalsorlargeobstructionsbetweenthetransmitter andyourradiocandisturbthesignalcausirngstaticorflutteringnoisestooccur. Reducingthetreblelevelmaylessenthiseffectuntilthedisturbanceclears. StationSwapping-AsaFMsignalweakens,anothermorepowerfulsignal nearthesamefrequencymaybegintoplay.Thisisbecauseyourradioisde signedtolockontotheclearestsignal.Ifthisoccurs,selectanotherstation withastrongersignal. GenerallytheaccelerationofvehiclewithASRisbetterascomparedwith

TheAnti-LockBrakeSystem (ABS)isdesignedtopreventwheellock-up duringsuddenbrakingoronhazardousroadsurfaces.TheABScontrolmod ulemonitorsthewheelspeedandcontrolsthepressureappliedtoeach brake.Thus,inemergencysituationsoronslickroads,yourABSwillincrease vehiclecontrolduringbraking.
NOTE:
DuringABSoperation,aslightpulsationmaybefeltinthebrakepedalwhen thebrakesareapplied.Also,anoisemaybeheardintheenginecompartment whiledriving.Theseconditionsarenormalandindicatethattheanti-lockbrake systemisfunctioningproperly.

GOODBRAKINGPRACTICES
Afterbeingparked,checktobesuretheparkingbrakeisnotengagedandthattheparkingbrakeindicatorlightis
outbeforedrivingway.
Drivingthroughdeepwatermaygetthebrakeswet.Theycanalsogetwetwhenthevehicleiswashed.Wetbrakes canbedangerous! Yourvehiclewillnotstopasquicklyifthebrakesarewetanditmayalsopulltooneside.Ifyou suspectthatthebrakesmaybe wet,cautiouslyapplythebrakes.Yourbrakesareprobablywetifthebrakingactionis notnormalandrequireseithermorepedalpressurethanusualorpullstooneside.Todrythebrakes,applythe brakeslightlyuntilthebrakingactionreturnstonormal,takingcaretokeepthevehicleundercontrolatalltimes.Ifthe brakingactiondoesnotreturntonormal,stopassoonasitissafetodosoandcallthe nearestserviceshopforassis tance.
Don'tcoastdownhillswiththevehicleoutofgear.Thiscanbedangerous.Keepthevehicleingearatalltimes,use thebrakestoslowdown,thenshifttoalowergearsothatenginebrakingwillhelpyoumaintainasafespeed.
Normalbraking
Toreducethespeedofthevehicle,firstapplyengineandexhaustbrakes.Afterthevehiclehassloweddown,depress theservicebrakepedal.Whenshiftingdown,usecaretopreventengineoverrunning.

Depressthebrakepedalabout1/2ofthewayatapoint25to35m(28to38yd)aheadofthetargetstoppingpoint. Atapoint5to6m (5.5to6.5yd)aheadofthetargetstoppingpoint,slowlyreleasethepedal (about1/2to1/3ofthe initialstroke).Afterthevehiclehasfurtherapproachedthetargetpoint,slightlydepressthepedaltobringthevehicleto astop.Inthismannerthevehiclecanbegentlystoppedwithoutshock.
Payattentiontothefollowingpoints:
Sincetheservicebrakesprovidepowerfulbraking,thereisnoneedfordepressingthebrakepedalallthewayex
ceptinanemergency.
Ifthevehicleisstoppedwiththeinitialfoot pressureonthebrakepedal,shockwillbeproducedwhenthevehicle stops.Slowlyeasefootpressuretominimizetheshock.Ifthebrakepedalisfullyreleased,however,alltheairinthe brakesystemwillbedischargedandthevehiclemaynotstopatthetarget pointbutmaymovefurtherahead.
Donotpumpthepedal.Frequentpumpingwill resultintemporarylossoftheairandthevehiclewillmoveon.Ina congestedtraffic,thereisdangerofbumpingintotherearendofanothervehicleahead.Trytostopthevehiclebyde pressingthepedalonce.
Onairoverhydraulicbrakevehicles,ifthebuzzersoundsandBRAKEpilotlamplightswhenthepedalisdepressed, stopthevehicleimmediately.Itisthesignoffluidleaksorlowbrakeperformanceduetoexcessivebrakeshoeclear ance.Callthenearestserviceshopforinspectionandrepair. Thebrakesystemisacompletelydualsystem.Eveniffluidleaksoccurinoneofthecircuits,therefore,thevehiclecan bestoppedthroughuseoftheothercircuit.
Abruptbraking
Intheeventofanemergency,depressthebrakepedalalltheway.Thebrakesareappliedtoallwheelsandthevehicle stopsabruptly.Becarefulofstrongshockproducedwhenthevehiclestops.
CAUTION:
Frequentuseofabruptbrakingwillresultinprematurewearofthetires,brakedrums,brakeliningsandotherpartsand willreducethelifeofallparts.Avoiduseofabruptbrakingexceptinanemergency.Whentheroadsurfaceiswetasin rainyweatherorwhenthereisiceontheroadsurface,abruptbrakingcancausehazardousskidding.

4.Releasetheparkingbrakesofthetrailer.

Iftheoilpressurefallsbelow0.5kgf/cm2(50kPa)whiletheengineisidling, theOILPRESSUREpilotlampwilllightandthebuzzerwillsound. Stoptheengineandcheckforoilleaksandlevelatonce.Iftheyaregood,the oilsystemisdefective.Havetheoilsystemcheckedbyanauthorizeddealer.
TheOILPRESSUREpilotlampalsolightwhentheoilfilterisclogged.Be suretocheckthepressuregaugetoconfirmtheoilpressure. Inseverecoldweatherthepilotlampmaycontinuetolightforawhileafter startingbecauseofincreasedoilviscosity.Donotoperatethevehicleuntilthe enginewarmsupfully.
Donotkeepyourfootontheclutchpedalduringoperation. Useoftheclutchinhalf-engagedpositionwillnotonlyresultinlossofpower butwillalsoreducethelifeoftheclutch.
Theidealcoolanttemperaturefortheengineoperationis75to90~C(167to 194F). Ifthecoolanttemperatureremainsataround100~C (212~F),theengineis slightlyoverheated.Withthevehiclestationary,continuetoruntheengineto coolitorshiftintoalowerspeedgeartoreducetheengineload. Ifthepointerpassesbeyond110~C (230F)andenterstheredzone,theen
gineisoverheated.Thewatertemperaturewarninglightwillalsolight.Stopthe vehicleandruntheengineataslightlyhigherspeedthantheidlespeedto cooltheengine. Donotstoptheengineimmediately.Asuddenriseincoolanttemperature couldcauseseizureoftheengine. Whentheengineisbeingcooled,checkforcoolantleaks.Afterthecoolant temperaturehasfallen,checkforIowcoolantlevelorlooseorbrokenfanbelt.
CAUTION:
Whenaddingcoolant,payattentiontothefollowingpoints.
Usecitywaterascoolant.Avoidtheuseofhardwatersuchasriverwaterif
possible.
Whentheradiatorcapisremoved,placeaclothoverthecap,raisethe pressurereleaseleverandslowlyopenthecap.Ifthecapisabruptlyopened whilethecoolantisstillhot,thehotwatermightgushoutandmightcause scalding.
Ifalargeamountofcoldwaterisabruptlypouredinanoverheatedengine, cracksmightdevelopinthecrankcase,etc.Slowlyaddwater,whilekeeping theenginerunning.

Whenthecompressedairpressurefallsbelow2.7kgf/cm2(265kPa),thee mergencybrakesareautomaticallyapplied. Manualemergencybrakeapplicationcanbeaccomplishedbypullingthe parkingbrakeknobin.Usetheknobincaseofemergency.
Howtorelease
Whenthecompressedairpressurefellandtheemergencybrakeswereman uallyapplied,runtheengineuntiltheAIRpilotlampgoesout.Thereafter,push thepakingbrakeknobtoreleasetheemergencybrakes. Sincethepressuremightfalltemporarilyaftertherelease,besuretocheck thepressurebeforestartingthevehicle.
CAUTION:

Thebatterybeingusedtoprovidethejumpstartmustbe24-volt.Ifyoucannotdeterminethatitisa24-voltbattery,
donotattempttouseitforthejumpstart.
Tojumpstartacarwithadischargedbattery,followthisprocedureexactly:
1.Iftheboosterbatteryisinstalledinanothervehicle,besurethetwovehiclesarenottouching.
2.Turnoffallunnecessarylightsandaccessoriesinbothvehicles.
3.Attachtheclampsofthejumpercableinthe exactordershownonthepreviouspage.hatis,first,attachoneclamp ofthejumpercabletothepositive (+)postorcableofthedischargedbattery.Thenattachtheotherendofthesame cabletothepositive(+)postorcableoftheboosterbattery.Next,usingtheothercable,attachoneclamptothenega tive(-)postorcableoftheboosterbattery.Thenattachtheotherendofthat cabletoasolidmetalpartoftheengine awayfromthebattery.Donotconnectthecabletoanymovingpart.
4.Starttheengineinthecarwiththeboosterbatteryandletitrunforafewminutes.Thisillhelptoassurethatthe boosterbatteryisullycharged.Duringthejumpingoperation,untheengineinthisvehicleatabout1000rpm.
5.Startyourengineusingthenormalstartingrocedure.Aftertheenginestarts,leavetheumpercablesconnectedand lettheenginerunatfastidleorabout1000rpmforseveralminutes.
6.Followingtheexactreverseorderoftheirbeingattached,carefullyremovethejumpercables.Removethenegative

cablefirst,thenthepositivecable. Ifyoudonotknowwhyyourbatterybecameischarged (becausethelights werelefton,etc.),havethechargingsystemcheckedbyyourJACdealer.
IFTHEENGINEOVERHEATS
Ifyourtemperaturegaugeindicatesoverheating,youexperiencealossof power,orhearloudpingingorknocking,theengineisprobablytoohot.Ifthis happens,youshould:
1.Pullofftheroadandstopassoonasitissafetodoso.
2.Placethegearselectorleverinneutralandsettheparkingbrake.Iftheair conditionerison,turnitoff.
3.Ifcoolantisrunningoutunderthevehicleor steamiscomingoutfromthe cap,stoptheengine.Donotopenthecapuntilthecoolanthasstoppedrun ningorthesteaminghasstopped.Ifthereisnovisiblelossofcoolantandno steam,leavetheenginerunningand checktobesuretheenginecooling fanisoperating.Ifthefanisnotrunning,turntheengineoff.
4.Checktoseeifthewaterpumpdrivebeltismissing.Ifitisnotmissing, checktoseethatitistight.Ifthedrivebeltseemstobesatisfactory,checkfor coolantleakingfromtheradiator,hosesorunderthevehicle. (Iftheaircondi
tionerhadbeeninuse,itis normalforcoldwatertobedrainingfromitwhenyoustop).
WARNING:
Whiletheengineisrunning,keephands,longhairandclothingawayfrommovingpartssuchasthefananddrivebeltsto preventinjury.
5.Ifthewaterpumpdrivebeltisbrokenor coolantisleakingout,stoptheengineimmediatelyandcallthenearest JACdealerforassistance.
WARNING:
Donotremovetheradiatorcapwhentheengineishot.Thismayallowcoolanttobeblownoutoftheopeningandcause seriousburns.
6.Ifyoucannotfindthecauseoftheoverheating,waituntiltheenginetemperaturehasreturnedtonormal.Then,if coolanthasbeenlost,carefullyremovetheradiatorcapandaddwatertobringthefluidlevelinthereservoiruptothe halfwaymark.
7.Proceedwithcaution,keepingalertforfurthersignsofoverheating.Ifoverheatinghappensagain,callaJACdealer for assistance.
CAUTION:
Seriouslossofcoolantindicatesthereisaleakinthecoolingsystemandthisshouldbecheckedassoonaspossibleby aJACdealer.

Usethewrenchtoloosenthewheelnuts,thenremovethemwithyourfingers.Removethewheel,slidethewheeloffthe studsandlayitflatsoitcannotrollway. Tore-installedthewheel,putthewheelonthehubandputthewheelnutsonthestudsandtightenthemfingertight.
LOWERVEHICLEANDTIGHTENNUTS
Tolowerthecartotheground,turnthevalve1counterclockwisebythejackhandle. Thenpositionthewrenchasshowninthedrawingandtightenthewheelnuts.

1.Afterdrivingyourvehicleduringfirst1,000km,retightenthewheelnutswiththespecifiedtorque.
2.Andthen,wheelnutsshouldbecheckedorretightenedforevery5,000kmoramonth.
3.Afterreplacingthetire,ifyoudriveyourvehiclefor50~100km,thenthewheelnutshouldberetightened.
TIREINFLATIONPRESSURES
Lowtireinflationpressurescouldcauseoverheatingandburstofthetire.Hightireinflationpressures,ontheotherhand, willdrasticallyreducetirelife. Whentireswerereplaced,besuretoadjustthetireinflationpressurestothestandardvalues.
Thestandardtireinflationpressurecautionplateattherightsideofthedriver'sseatshowsthemaximumtireinflation pressuresforoperationonthegeneralroad.Toextendtirelife,itisadvisablethatthetiresareadjustedtotheinflation pressurescalculatedfromtheload. Precautionsforadjustmentoftireinflationpressures
Adjustmentshouldbemadewhilethetiresarecoldbeforeoperation.
Inthecaseofdoubletires,makesurethatthereisnodifferenceininflationpressurebetweenthetires.Ifthereisa difference,thehigherinflatedtirewillsufferprematurewearanddamage,andthelowerpressureonewillalsobead verselyaffected.
Duringoperationorimmediatelyafteroperation,thetireinflationpressureswillincreasebecauseoftheheat.Since theincreaseoftireinflationpressureduringoperationisnotanabnormalcondition,donotdeflatethetires.
Thetireinflationpressuresneednotbeincreasedforhighspeedoperation.

Whentiresarereplaced,payattentiontothefollowingpoints:
1.Newtiresshouldbefirstinstalledtothefront wheelsandsubjectedtobreak-inoperationbeforetheyaremovedto therearwheels.Sincethenewtiresgrowduringtheinitialperiodofuse,adjusttheirinflationpressuresafterbreak-in operation. Break-inoperationshouldbeperformedat60km/h(37mph)orlowerspeedoveradistanceofmorethan200km(124 miles).
2.Usetiresofthesamebrand,size,patternandplies.Avoidmixeduseofdifferenttypesoftires,asthereisadanger ofdeteriorationinhandlingandstability.
3.Thedifferenceinoutsidediameterbetweentheinnerandoutertiresofthedoubletireshouldbelimitedto12mm (0.47in.)orless.Ifthereisadifference,installthesmallerdiametertireinside.
4.Sincesnowtiresareslightlydifferentinsize fromgeneraltiresofthesamesize,avoidmixeduseofasnowtireand generaltireasdoubletire.

Byusingthemostadvanceddesignandconstructionpracticestocombatcorrosion,JACproducescarsofthehighest quality.However,thisisonlypartofthejob.Toachievethelong-termcorrosionresistanceyourJACcandeliver,the ownerscooperationandassistanceisalsorequired.
CommonCausesofCorrosion
Themostcommoncausesofcorrosiononyourcarare:
Roadsalt,dirtandmoisturethatisallowedto accumulateunderneaththecar.
Removalofpaintorprotectivecoatingsbystones,gravel,abrasionorminorscrapesanddentswhichleaveunpro tectedmetalexposedtocorrosion.
High-CorrosionAreas
Ifyouliveinanareawhereyourcarisregularlyexposedtocorrosivematerials,corrosionprotectionisparticularlyim portant.Someofthecommoncausesofacceleratedcorrosionareroadsalts,dustcontrolchemicals,oceanairandin dustrialpollution.
MoistureBreedsCorrosion
Moisturecreatestheconditionsinwhichcorrosionismostlikelytooccur.Forexample,corrosionisacceleratedbyhigh humidity,particularlywhentemperaturesarejustabovefreezing.Insuchconditions,thecorrosivematerialiskeptin contactwiththecarsurfacesbymoisturethatisslowtoevaporate. Mudisaparticularenemyofcorrosionprotectionbecauseitisslowtodryandholdsmoistureincontactwiththevehi
cle.Eventhoughthemudappearstobedry,itcanstillretainmoistureandpromotecorrosion. Hightemperaturescanalsoacceleratecorrosionofpartsthatarenotproperlyventilatedsothemoisturecanbedis persed.Forallthesereasons,itisparticularlyimportanttokeepyourcarcleanandfreeofmudoraccumulationsof othermaterials.Thisappliesnotonlyonthevisiblesurfacesbutparticularlytotheundersideofthecar.
TOHELPPREVENTCORROSION
Youcanhelppreventcorrosionfromgettingstartedbyobservingthefollowing:
KeepYourCarClean
Thebestwaytopreventcorrosionistokeepyourcarcleanandfreeofcorrosivematerials.Attentiontotheundersideof thecarisparticularlyimportant.
Ifyouliveinahigh-corrosionereawhereroadsaltsareused,neartheocean,areaswithindustrialpollution,acid rain,etc.Youshouldtakeextracaretopreventcorrosion.Inwinter,hoseofftheundersideofyourcaratleastoncea monthandbesuretocleantheundersidethoroughlywhenwinterisover.
Whencleaningunderneaththecar,giveparticularattentiontothecomponentsunderthefendersandotherareasthat arehiddenfromview.Doathoroughjob;justdampeningtheaccumulatedmudratherthanwashingitawaywillaccel eratecorrosionratherthanpreventit.Waterunderhighpressureandsteamare particularlyeffectiveinremovingac cumulatedmudandcorrosivematerials.
Whencleaninglowerdoorpanels,rockerpanelsandframemembers,besurethatdrainholesarekeptopensothat moisturecanescapeandnotbetrappedinsidetoacceleratecorrosion.

Inordertomaintainthevalueofyourvehicle,itisnecessarytoperformregularmaintenanceusingtheproperproce dure.Besuretomaintainyourvehicleincompliancewithanypertinentenvironmentalpollutioncontrolregulations. Carefullyselectthematerialstobeusedforwashing,etc.tobesurethattheydonotcontaincorrosives;ifindoubt,con tactanauthorizedJACdealerforassistanceintheselectionofthesematerials.
Washing
Chemicalscontainedinthedirtanddustpickedupfromtheroadsurfacecandamagethepaintcoatandbodyofyour vehicleifleftinprolongedcontact.
Frequentwashingisthebestwaytoprotectyourvehiclefromthisdamage. Thiswillalsobeeffectiveinprotectingitfromenvironmentalelementssuchas rain,snow,saltair,etc.Donotwashthevehicleindirectsunlight.Parktheve hicleintheshadeandsprayitwithwatertoremovedust.Next,usinganam pleamountofcleanwaterandavehiclewashingbrushorsponge,washthe vehiclefromtoptobottom.Useamildvehiclewashingsoapifnecessary. SpotCleaning

Bleedairbythefollowingprocedure

5.Starttheengineandcheckforfuelleaks.

CLUTCHPEDALPLAY
Theclutchpedalplaywilldecreaseasthediscwears.Ifitisnotadjusted,the clutchwillslip,makingitimpossibletooperatethevehicle.Whentheclutch pedalplayhasdecreasedtolessthan8.3in. (210mm),adjustmentisre quired. Checkthepedalplaybydepressingthepedalwithfinger.Depressingthe pedalwillmakeyoufeelresistanceintwostages.Thepedalplayisthestroke madebythepedaluntilitreachesthesecondstageandis0.24to0.31in.(6 to8mm)standard.Theplayinthefirststageisthemastercylinderplay.Inthe secondstage,itistheclutchboosterpushrodplay.Theplayiseasierto checkwhenthecompressedairpressureislower.Ifitisoutofspecification, haveitinspectedandadjustedorrepairedifnecessary.
Adjusttheclutchmastercylinderplay,whichisthemovementofthepedalup tothefirstresistanceencounteredwhenthepedalisdepressedwithyourfin ger.Adjustthisplaytoabout6mm (0.24in.)byturningthecenterbeltofthe mastercylinderpushrod. Afteradjusting,firmlytightenthenutonthecenter beltwhileholdingthebeltinpositionwithacorench.

1.Filltheclutchfluidreservoirtankwithbrake fluiduptothe"MAX"level. Sincethelevelfallsduringthebleedingoperation,addbrakefluidtoprevent emptyingthetank.

2.Removetherubbercapfromtheairbleederoftheclutchbooster,mount oneendofatransparentvinylhose,andputtheotherendinabowlcontain ingbrakefluid.
3.Depresstheclutchpedalseveraltimes.Afterthestrokehassettled,keep thepedaldepressed. Lettheassistantloosentheairbleederto dischargetheairalongwiththe brakefluid.Lethimtightentheairbleederimmediatelyafterairhasbeendis charged.
NOTE:
Ifthebrakefluidisdischargedfromtheairbleeder,thestrokeofthepedalwill change.Tightentheairbleederimmediatelyafterthepedalhastouchedthe stopper.
4.Aftertheairbleederhasbeentightened,releasethepedal.
5.Repeatsteps3and4untiltherearenomoreairbubblesinthebrakefluid thatrunsoutfromtheairbleeder.Asafinalstep,tightentheairbleerfirmly andinstalltherubbercap.
6.Checkthefluidlevelinthefluidreservoirtankandaddbrakefluiduptothe "H"level.Depresstheclutchpedaltocheckforfluidleaks.

Additionofcoolant
Ifthewarninglamplightswhenthestarterswitchissetto"ON',thecoolantlevelislow.Notethattheprocedurefor addingcoolantvariesaccordingtothetypeoftheenginecoolingsystemonvehicle.Usecitywaterascoolantandadd anti-rustoranti-freezetohaveaspecifiedconcentrationforpreventionofengineorcoolingsystemcorrosion. Donotusehardwaterfromwellriveretc.
Antifreeze
Selectproperconcentrationbetween30and53%byreferencetothetableshownbelow.
CAUTION:
Besuretouseanti-freezeattheconcentrationmostappropriatefortheatmospherictemperaturewithinarangefrom 30to53%.Iftheconcentrationisbelow 30%,theanti-corrosionpropertywillbeadverselyaffected.Iftheconcentration isabove53%,theanti-freezepropertywilldecreaseandengineoverheatingwillalsobecaused.Useanti-freezeatthe specifiedconcentration.

Thebrakeshoeclearanceshouldbedeterminedonthebasisofthestrokeofthebrakechamberpushrod.Ifthe pushrodstrokeexceeds40mm(1.57in.)onthefrontwheelsor50mm (1.97in.)ontherearwheelswhenthebrake pedalisdepressedalltheway,adjusttheclearance.
1.Applychockstothetiresbeforethewheeltobeadjustedisjackedup.
2.Stronglypushtheouterperipheryoftiretocheckforwheellooseness.Ifthewheelisloose,itcannotbecorrectlyad justed.Takethevehicletoyournearestserviceshopforcorrection.
3.Starttheenginetoincreasethecompressedairpressuretomorethan6.4 kgf/cm2(625kPa).Leavetheenginerunningatidle.
4.Pushtheknobofthecabcontrolvalvetoreleasetheemergencybrakes.
5.Removethedustcapfromthewheelbrakeinspectionholeandcheckthe liningthickness.Iftheliningisworndowntothenotchshowninillustration,it iswornbeyondtheservicelimit.Haveyournearestserviceshopreplacethe linings.Makesurethatthedustcapisreinstalledafterinspection.
6.Turnthewormshaftoftheslackadjusterinthedirectionthatthepushrod extendsuntilthewormshafttouchesthestopper.
7.Backoffthewormshaft3or4notchesonthefrontwheelsor4or5notches ontherearwheels. Thenotchesareindicatedbytheclocksthewormshaftmakeswhenturned.

ENGINEOILLEVEL
Positionthevehicleonalevelsurface.Thebesttimetochecktheoillevelis beforeoperatingtheengineorabout30minutesafterstopofengine. Thecheckingprocedureisasfollows:
1.Wipethelevelgauge1wellwithacloth,insertitintothelevelgaugeguide 2andremovethegaugetochecktheoillevel.Theoillevelshouldbebetween "FULL'and"LOW"inscribedlines.
CAUTION:
Iftheoillevelischeckedwhentheengineisstoppedbeforesufficientriseofoil temperature,thedetectedlevelwillbelowerthantheactuallevel,because someoilaccumulationintheenginedoesnotflowbackintotheoilpan.
2.IfthelevelisIow,addengineoilthroughthe fillercap3.Afteradditionof engineoil,allowmorethansixminutesandthenrechecktheoillevel.
3.Ifabadlycontaminatedengineoilisobviouswhencheckingtheoillevel, replacetheengineoilirrespectiveoftheserviceintervals.

3.Whenyoureplaceonlytheoilfilterreplenishtheengineoil.
4.Cranktheengineandchecktheoilleakageandtheoillevellater.
CAUTION
Beverycarefulwhendrainingtheengineoilasitmaybehotenoughtoburnyou. Droppedoilmaycauseafire.Wipeandcleaneachpartintheengineroom.

TURBOCHARGER
Principleofturbochargeroperation
Turboengineisadevicethatproducesmorepowerbysupplyingsufficientair intothecombustionchamberbyusingtheenergyofexhaustgasisusually wastedinthegeneralengine. Theexhaustgasesareacceleratedintheturbinehousinganddirectedonto theturbinewheeltoturnit. Thisspinsthecompressorwheel,whichresultsintheintakeairbeingforced intotheenginecylinders. Astheintercoolerisinstalledthatimprovesthefueleconomyandpowerofthe engine,whilereducingharmfulexhaustgasestoaminimum.
Intercooler
Theintakeaircompressedbytheturbochargerincreasesto170~Candasa result,poweroftheengineislimitedbyengineoverheated.Theintercooler coolstheheat.Thisimprovesthecombustionefficiencyandasaresult,itin creasesthatthefueleconomyandpoweroftheengine,whilereducingharm fulexhaust.

Precautionswhileoperating
1.Checktheoillevelandoilpressure Beforestartingtheengine,measurethecrankcaseoillevel.Assoonasthe enginestarts,checkoilpressureindicatorfornormalrise.
2.Warmtheengineup Aftertheenginestarts,avoidsuddenaccelerationorsuddenstart. EnoughRPMisneededbeforestartingengineuntiltheengineiswarmfor3to 10minutes.
3.NostaringsuddenlyandNoacceleratingheavily Ifyouaccelerateheavily,startsuddenlyorwhenyouturnofftheenginesud denlyitmaydamagetotheengineandturbochargerparts.
CAUTION
Ifrunningavehiclewithoutaircleanerfilter,foreignmaterialdrawncande stroyengineandturbocharger.
Whenyouturnoffanenginesuddenlymaydamagebearing,hi-speedrota tionpartofturbochargerinside,solettheenginerunatidleforsufficienttime.
BATTERYINSTRUCTIONS
Checkthebatteryfluidlevelandspecificgravityatregularintervals.
CAUTION:
ThebatterygenerateshighlyInflammablegases.
Takespecialcarenottouseafireorproducesparksnearthebattery.
Thebatteryfluidcontainssulfuricacid. Incaseofcontactwiththeskinorclothes,immediatelywashawaywithalarge amountofcleanwaterandseekmedicalhelp.
Cleaningofbatteryterminals
1.Cleanthebatteryterminalsiftheyarestainedorcorroded.Ifthereiswhite powderontheterminals,washwithhotwater.
2.Removeandpolishtheterminalswithawirebrushoremerypaperifthey aremarkedlycorroded.
3.Applyathincoatofgreasetotheterminalsaftercleaningandtightening.
NOTE:
Theterminalsmustbefirmlytightened.Beforecleaningtheterminals,make surethecapsareinstalledsecurelytopreventforeignmatterfromenteringthe battery.

FluidQuantity
Thefluidlevelshouldbebetweenthe"UPPER'and"LOWER'levellines.Ifthe levelislow,adddistilledwateruptothe'UPPER'line.
NOTE:
Ifyourbatteryhasonlyonelevelline,thelineindicatesthe"LOWER"level (lowest).
Ifyourbatteryhasnolevelline,thefluidlevelshouldbebetween10and 15mmabovetheplates. Ifthelevelislow,adddistilledwateruntilitis15mmabovetheplates.
NOTE:
Afteradditionofwater,besuretochargethebattery(byoperatingthevehicle), becauseotherwisethefluidcouldbefrozeninwinter.
Specificgravity Measurethespecificgravity.Ifitislessthan1.220 (atafluidtemperatureof 20~C),rechargethebattery.
NOTE:
Thestandardspecificgravityofbatteryis1.260to1.270(atafluidtemperature of20~C).
REPLACEMENTOFFUSE
Iftheelectricalsystemisoutoforder,openthecoverandcheckforablown fuseinthefollowingsequence.
1.Openthecover.
2.Removethecircuitcheckerfromthereversesideofthecover.
3.Insertthefemaleterminalofthecircuitcheckerinto'CHECKER'groundter minalandtouchthemaleterminaltothefusetopsurface.
4.Ifthelamplights,thefuseisgood. Theheadlampcircuitshouldbecheckedwiththeheadlightswitchatlighting position.
5.Replacethedefectivefuse.
CAUTION:
Useofafuseoutofspecificationorwirecouldbe dangerous.Besurenot touseasubstitutefuse.Makesurethatablownfuseisreplacedwithagen uinefuse.Ifadefectivepointcannotbelocated,haveinspectionmadeatyour nearestserviceshop.
Donotpourwaterovertherelayandfusebox.Donotputyourfootonthe boxorkickit.Whentheinsideofthecabwascleanedwithwater,removethe watercompletelythroughthedrainholeinthefloorandthentiltthecab.

Turnthemainswitchoffafterbleedingaircompletelyfromthemainpipeandthenlocktheplug.
Turnthebatteryswitchonfor15secondsandofffor5repeatedlyandthencheckwhetherthegreaselubricates.
Checktheindicatorlampisoffwhenthepumpisoperated.

1.Agitatingtank
Agitatingtankbodyisthemainpartoftheconcretetransportationtruck,itconsiststhetankbody,guidetank,vaneand assistantvane.Thefunneledguidetankassuresthefeedingproperly,thecurvevanehelpstooutputperformanceof lowerlandslidelevelconcrete,thereareholesonthevane,whichreducestheadheringoftheconcrete.Theassistant vanewiththeagitatingabilityhelpstoimprovethepre-agitatingconcretequality.Thewholeagitatingtankismounted abovethebracket;therearetwosupportingrollersintherear.Thecheckingholeontheagitatingtankisforeasyrepair.
2.Transmissionsystem
