TheInvacarePlatinumMobileusesamolecularsieveand pressureswingadsorptionmethodologytoproducethe oxygengasoutput.Ambientairentersthedevice,isltered andthencompressed.Thiscompressedairisthendirected intoanitrogenadsorbingsievebed.Concentratedoxygen exitstheoppositeendofthesievebedandisdirectedinto anoxygenreservoirfromwhichitisdeliveredtothepatient.
Theoxygenpurityleveloftheoutputgasrangesfrom87% to95.6%.Theoxygenisdeliveredtothepatientthrough theuseofanasalcannula.Apulsedosedeliverymethod isused.Theconcentratordetectsthestartofpatient inhalationanddeliversameasuredpulseofoxygen.No furtheroxygenisdelivereduntilthenextpatientinhalation isdetected.Thevolumeofoxygendeliveredeachminute isaxedamountbasedontheselectedpulseowsetting.
