Getting started
On/Off function
1. When the battery door is closed, the hearing aid turns on, and
the default program will be activ ated.
2. To turn off the hearing aid, open the battery door. Many indi-
viduals can use their fingernail to pull it open.
Tip: Whenever the hearing aids are not in use,
i
remember to turn them off to avoid unnecessary battery consumption.
12 13
Power-on Delay
Hearing aids can be turned on once you have placed them on your ears. If you prefer to turn them on just prior to placing them on your ear, your hearing care professional can activate a function called Power-on Delay.
This function will delay the time in which the hearing aids turn on by ten seconds after the battery compartment is closed. This reduces the risk that the hearing aids will whistle while you put them on. With Power-on Delay, a beep will be heard for each second of the delay period.
Page 8
Battery door lock
Your hearing care professional can install a Left/Right side indicator (Blue=Left, Red=Right), which can be used to lock the battery door. Once locked, the hearing aid can only be turned off once the hearing aid is unlocked.
To lock the battery door:
1. Close the battery door
2. Using the battery door locking tool, slide the color marker to the
right.
To unlock the battery door: Slide the color marker to the left.

Inserting/Replacing the battery
1. Open the battery door completely by using your fingernail.
2. Remove the used battery if present. Insert the new battery with the positive side in the correct position. The battery door has a ‘+’ indicator to help determine the correct insertion.
3. Always use new Zinc-Air batteries that have a minimum remaining shelf life of 1 year.
4. Gently close the battery door.
Note: To save battery power, turn off your hearing aids when they are not in use.
i
Page 9
Low battery warning
When the batteries are low on power, your hearing aids reduce the volume, and play a melody until they are empty and turn off. The melody will recur every 5 minutes for SR70/80 models, and every 15 minutes for GAN90.
NOTE: Keep spare batteries on hand.
i
Inserting/Removing hearing aids
Insertion (custom earmoulds)
1. Hold the earmould between your thumb and index finger and position its sound outlet in your ear canal.
2. Slide the earmould all the way into your ear with a gentle, twisting movement.
16 17
3. Turn the top part of the earmould gently backwards and forwards so that it tucks behind the fold of skin above your ear canal.
4. Move the earmould up and down and gently press to ensure it is positioned correctly in the ear. Opening and closing your mouth can ease insertion.
5. Make sure the hearing aid is seated behind the ear.
By experimenting, an easier method may be discovered. With proper insertion, hearing aids should fit snugly but comfortably. If hearing aids cause irritation of the ears, contact your hearing care professional. Never attempt to modify the shape of the hearing aid, earmoulds, or tubing yourself.
Tip: It may be helpful to pull your ear up and outward with your op-
i
posite hand during insertion.
Page 10
Removal (custom earmolds)
1. Hold a portion of your earmould towards the back of the ear.
2. Pull the earmould outward and simultaneously rotate the ear-
volume setting for you. Please note the setting of that particular level. To increase the volume with the instrument fit to your ear, turn the volume control wheel up. To reduce the volume, turn the wheel down.
mould forward.
3. Consult your hearing care professional if you have difficulties removing the hearing aid.
Please note that your instrument has been fit by your hearing care professional and that your hearing loss requires a certain amount of amplification. This will also affect how much you are able to increase the volume on your instru-

The following suggestions may be helpful:
1. Dependent on your fitting and hearing status, either hold the telephone up to your ear canal or hold it close to the hearing aid microphones as illustrated.
2. If whistling occurs, try holding the telephone in the same position for a few seconds as the hearing aid may be able to cancel the whistling.
3. Holding the telephone slightly away from the ear can also stop any whistling.
20 21
Page 12
Telecoil (optional)
If needed, a telecoil can be activated by your hearing care professional and accessed through one of the additional programmes. A telecoil picks up a telephone’s magnetic signal and converts it to sound. When using a telecoil programme, the receiver of the telephone may need to be held closer to the hearing aid. The handset of the telephone may need to be moved to slightly different positions in order to find the best reception.
22 23
AutoPhone (Gain 90 only)
i
By placing a magnet on the telephone receiver, your hearing aids automatically switch the telephone programme on when the receiver is close to your ear.
When you remove the receiver from your ear, the hearing aids automatically return to the previous listening programme.

i AutoPhone warnings
1. Keep magnets out of reach of pets, children and mentally challenged persons.
2. The AutoPhone magnet may affect sensitive medical devices / electronic systems. Seek advice from the manufacturers regarding appropriate safety measures when using the AutoPhone solution near the sensitive device / equipment (pacemakers and defibrillators) in question. If the manufacturer cannot issue a statement, we recommend keeping the magnet or a telephone equipped with the magnet 30 cm (12”) away from magnetically sensitive devices (e.g. pacemakers).
i
AutoPhone precautions
1. If you experience frequent signal loss or noise during calls, move the AutoPhone magnet to another place on the telephone receiver.
2. Only use magnets supplied by Interton.
Page 15
Teleloop systems
Many places, such as theatres, houses of worship, and schools are equipped with teleloop systems. When using a telecoil programme with teleloop systems, sound is picked up directly. If there is no sound from the hearing aids in a teleloop system and with a telecoil programme activated, the teleloop system may not be turned on or is not operating correctly. If a facility is not equipped with a teleloop system, sitting as close as possible to the
Direct audio input (optional)
Use of direct audio input (DAI), which enables a direct connection of the hearing aids to items such as television, radio, and remote microphones, may increase speech understanding for some individuals. The sound source is connected to the hearing aids by a cable or a wireless FM system to the audio boot. This accessory connects to the bottom of the hearing aids, and once properly clicked into place, the hearing aids switch to DAI automatically.

32 33
Page 18
Daily maintenance
It is important to keep your hearing aid clean and dry. On a daily basis, clean the hearing aids using a soft cloth or tissue. In order to avoid damage due to humidity or excessive perspiration, the use of a drying kit is recommended. Some drying kits are electric, and in addition to thoroughly drying out hearing aids, they help sanitize.
34 35
Cleaning earmoulds
i
1. Detach the earmould and attached tubing from the hearing aids prior to cleaning.
2. Use a mild soap to clean the earmould and rinse with lukewarm water.
3. Dry the earmould thoroughly. Use the airbulb and cleaning wire to remove residual water and debris from the tubing.
Note: Earmould tubing may become stiff, brittle, or discoloured over time. Contact
i
your hearing care professional regarding tube changes.
Page 19
Temperature test, transport and storage information
Interton Hearing Aids are subjected to various tests in temperature and damp heating cycling between -25°C (-13°F) and +70°C (+158°F) according to internal and industry standards.
During transport or storage, the temperature should not exceed the limit values of -20°C (-4°F) to +60°C (+140°F) and relative humidity of 90% RH, non-condensing (for limited time). The air pressure between 500 hPa and 1,100 hPa is appropriate.
