1553 Non-Incendive (NI) Extra Long Range (XLR) Scanner
The Model 1553NI XLR Scanner has been qualified by Underwriters Laboratories Inc., to the requirements of the USA and Canada for use in Class 1, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D, and Non-Hazardous locations only. The 1553NI XLR Scanner has a T6 temperature code. The use of the 1553NI XLR Scanner in poten­tially explosive environments is restricted to the limita­tionsdetailedinthisdocument.
Warnings and Cautions
Explosion Hazard-Substitution of components may impair suitability for Class I, Division 2.
Note: This unit has no operator replace­able parts. Repair of the 1553NI XLR Scanner must be performed by trained In­termec service personnel.
The following additional warnings and cautions must be observed for the safety of the operator and others in potentially hazardous locations:
S The 1553NI XLR Scanner must only be used when
the ambient temperature is between -20°Cand +50°C(-4°F and +122°F).
S The 1553NI XLR Scanner may only be used with
Intermec Model 700CNI. This connection is made through the tethered scanner adapter (TSA), Inter­mec Model 700CNI-TSA, p/n 225-686-007 which in turn is used with Intermec cable 3-604032-06.
There are no other terminals currently qualified for use with the 1553NI XLR Scanner. The connec­tions between the 1553NI XLR Scanner, the cable, 700CNI-TSA, and Model 700CNI must be made in areas known to be non-hazardous.
