access control system software.
The reader allows site managers to extend the life of access
control systems by using barium ferrite badges.
The Model 610 reader is fully self-contained with all of the
electronics contained in the reader housing. The reader is
weather-resistant, making it suitable for outdoor use. The
Model 610 reader can be located up to 1,000 feet (305m)
from a Micro/2, Micro/4 or Micro/5 microcontroller.
READER OPERATION
Using the Model 610 Barium Ferrite Touch Card reader is a
one-step process. The user touches a CASI barium ferrite
badge to the stainless steel plate located on the front of the
reader. An LED indicator turns green if access is granted or
red if access is denied.
Model 610 readers 12VDC input power is typically provided
by the micocontroller. The reader outputs badge data in
Wiegand 3201 format. The microcontroller reader processor
must be set for Wiegand data input.
Important configuration note: a Micro/5 can be configured
with a Rusco-RP Reader Processor which supports barium
ferrite insertion readers (CR503 / ID503) and either a 2RP or
2SRP Reader Processor which supports operation of the
Model 610 barium ferrite touch card reader.

MOUNTING REQUIREMENTS
The Model 610 includes a mounting bracket and gasket.
The reader is mounted directly to the wall with four
screws; an electrical box is not required. The reader is
then secured to the bracket with a flange and one security screw. The weather-seal gasket provides a moisture
barrier between the reader backplate and the wall or
mounting surface. The reader can be mounted directly
to a hollow wall, onto a back box (optional) when mounting to a solid wall, or to either a single- or dual-width USA
electrical box. An optional security wrench is required to
complete installation.
