General
System Board Manual
See the System Board Manual for detailed information on system board specifications and
features, and system board components and connections.
System BIOS Information
See System Setup for detailed information on BIOS configuration. The BIOS information in the
System Board Manual does not apply to RAX systems.
Factory-Installed RAID Configuration
The default configuration for factory-installed RAID disk drives is as follows:
♦ RAID level 5
♦ Write-through write policy
1
♦ Two disk drives spin up every twelve seconds
♦ Ultra SCSI enabled (40 MB transfer rate)
Mylex AcceleRAID 250 RAID Controller
If your system includes a Mylex AcceleRAID 250 RAID controller, you may have to change a
system BIOS setting. To ensure you can press
configuration utilities:
1. Run BIOS Setup.
2. In Advanced CMOS Setup, set 2nd Boot Device to SCSI.

RAID controller). See System Setup for more information on running BIOS Setup and changing
BIOS settings.

Pentium III Processors
If you purchased a system with Pentium III processors, note the following:
♦ Intel’s Streaming SIMD Extension Driver was installed on the system before shipment. This
driver increases system performance for drivers and applications designed to take advantage

of it. If you have to reinstall the operating system and associated system software, you should
also reinstall this driver. You can find it in the
can get from the Support pages on the World Wide Web (http://www.intergraph.com/ics/)
or the Intergraph System CD-ROM. See the
more information.
♦ You do not need to set system board jumpers to match a Pentium III processor’s speed
because the processor has a fixed core-to-host bus ratio.
♦ Pentium III processors require system BIOS version 1.21 or higher.
Document Errata
The system dimensions in your System Reference may be incorrect. The dimensions are:
♦ 16.7 in wide x 8.7 in high x 23.6 inches deep
♦ 42.4 cm wide x 22.1 cm high x 60.0 cm deep

You cannot install Windows NT 4.0 on a RAX system by booting from the Windows NT 4.0 CDROM. You must use the Setup diskettes to install Windows NT 4.0.
