Slower Boot with 512 MB DIMMs
If your system’s memory uses 512 MB DIMMs, the system may boot more slowly than you expect.
System boot takes approximately 15 extra seconds per 512 MB DIMM installed. No video
displays during this time.
System Software
The following system software products are not currently available on the Intergraph System CD:
CRYSTALNTDRV, INTELPRO100+, SYMSCSI (older version), DGXSYSIN (online System Introduction).
Use InterSite Version Manager to get the most current versions of these system software products
from the Support pages on the World Wide Web (http://www.intergraph.com/ics/). See Version
Manager Help for more information.

System Graphics
Since the printing of the System Reference document, new system graphic s options have been
added, such as a Matrox G200 AGP graphics controller and an Intense3D Wildcat 4110 AGP
graphics controller. Separate documentation for these options is delivered with the system.
EIDE System Disk Drive
If your system includes a 10.1 GB (or larger) EIDE system disk drive, note the following:
♦ Unless ordered as an option, the system does not have an installed SCSI controller card.
♦ The system disk drive is connected as the master device on the primary EIDE channel.
♦ The CD-ROM drive is connected as the master device on the secondary EIDE channel.
Operating System Support for USB Peripherals
Your system includes Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports for USB peripherals. Windows NT 4.0
does not support USB peripherals. Microsoft will add USB support to a future Windows NT
release.

PC Card Adapter
CardWizard for Windows NT software is required on the system to ensure the SCM Swapbox PC
Card adapter works correctly with Windows NT 4.0. This software is installed at the factory. If
you must reinstall it, you can make a backup diskette using InterSite Versi on Manager. See
Version Manager Help for mor e information on creating system software backup diskettes.
Before you can use the PC Card adapter and before you install CardWizard software, you must set
up the system’s BIOS to configure proper operation of the PC Card adapter. Restart the system
and run BIOS Setup. Go to Advanced/Reset Configuration Data and select Yes; then go to IDE
Configuration and select Primary. Next, go to Advanced/Resource Confi guration and rese rve IRQ
15. Finally, save the changes and exit from BIOS Setup. See the System Board Manual for
information on using BIOS Setup to do this.
After restarting the system and logging on to Windows NT, you can install CardWizard software if
needed, using the default settings during Setup. See the documentation delivered with the PC Card
adapter for detailed CardWizard installation and configuration instructions.
NOTE If you reinstall Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack software on a system with a PC Card
adapter, you must install the CardWizard software after installing Service Pack
software. If you do not do this, you may experience problems when using the PC
Card adapter. This is an exception to the general rule that you must reinstall Service
Pack software any time you change hardware or software components on a system.
MIDI Port
If you reinstall driver software for the on-board audio processor, you may find the MIDI port does
not work. An interrupt request (IRQ) was not assigned to the MIDI port during driver installation.
To assign an IRQ to the MIDI port, restart the system and run BIOS Setup. Go to Advanced/Reset
Configuration Data and select Yes; then save the change and exit from BIOS Setup. See the
System Board Manual for information on running B IOS Setup.
To verify that an IRQ has been assigned to the MIDI port, from the operating system Start menu,
go to Settings/Control Panel/Multimedia/Devices/Audio/Settings/MPU401. The settings should
show an address of 330 and an IRQ of 11.
SCSI Controllers
You must run the SCSI Configuration Utility (PCI_CFG.EXE) to select the boot order for the SCSI
controllers if you move an installed Symbios SCSI controller to another expansion slot or add a
Symbios SCSI controller to the system. If you do not do this, the controllers are not detected when
the system boots. See System Setup for information on running the SCSI Co nfiguration Utility.
