Terminator for SCSI Port

If you do not connect peripheral devices to the external SCSI port on the back of the base unit, connect a SCSI terminator module (delivered with the system) to the port.

Booting with the CD-ROM Drive Door Open

If the system is equipped with a Sony SCSI CD-ROM drive, the system may hang during boot if the CD-ROM drive door is open. If this happens, close the drive door and restart the system.

Ensoniq AudioPCI Driver

When you try to create backup diskettes for the Ensoniq AudioPCI audio driver software (
ENSQ1371WNT4), you may see an error message that says Version Manager cannot copy the file.
If this happens, you cannot create backup media for this product. If you need to reinstall it, download it from the Support pages on the World Wide Web (http://www.intergraph.com/ics/) or look for it on the Intergraph System CD-ROM.

Mylex 250 RAID Controller

If you add a Mylex 250 RAID controller to PCI slot 4, 5, or 6 on the system, you must run the
SCSI Configuration Utility and reassign the boot order to the system’s on-board SCSI controllers. This prevents a possible boot problem from occurring. See System Setup for more information.

Operating System Support for USB Peripherals

While your system has ports for Universal Serial Bus (USB) peripherals, Windows NT 4.0 does not include USB support. Microsoft will add USB support to a future Windows NT release.

Pentium III Processors

If you purchased a system with Pentium III processors, note the following: Intel’s Streaming SIMD Extension Driver was installed on the system before shipment. This
driver increases system performance for drivers and applications designed to take advantage of it. If you have to reinstall the operating system and associated system software, you should also reinstall this driver, which is found in the not on your copy of the Intergraph System CD-ROM, you can get it from the Support pages on the World Wide Web (http://www.intergraph.com/ics/). You do not need to se t system boar d jumpers to match a Pentium III pr ocessor’s speed.Pentium III processors require system BIOS version 8990T or higher.

System Memory

TDZ 2000 GT1 supports up to 3.0 GB of system memory when using 512 MB DIMMs.
System Reference contains a table that shows possible memory configurations. The table in your document may show configurations that do not provide optimal memory performance. For optimal performance, populate memory per the note in the list preceding the table, which says:
For best performance, populate both memory controllers equally when an even number of
DIMMs are used. For example, if two DIMMs are used, install them into Bank 0 and Bank 1.

System Resources

System Setup may contain incorrect information about system resources, corrected as follows:
Under “Interrupt Requests (IRQs),” IRQ 11 is for Hardware Monitor, and IRQ 15 is a spare.Under “DMA Channels,” Channel 0 is for the parallel port (LPT) only if the port is set to ECP
mode (not the default setting), and Channels 1 and 3 are spares.

CMOS Reset Jumper

In the System Reference, the designation for the system board’s CMOS reset jumper may be incorrect. The CMOS reset jumper should be designated J53.

Windows NT Diagnostics and PCI Device IRQs

When using the Windows NT Diagnostics tool, the interrupt requests (IRQs) displayed for Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) devices may be incorrect. This occurs because of the way Windows NT Diagnostics reads IRQs on a system that conforms to Intel’s Multi-Processor Specification (MPS) version 1.4. Microsoft has acknowledged the problem and is working to resolve it.

Enabling PC Card Hard Disk Operation

Intergraph Computer Systems has found a resource conflict that keeps a PC Card hard disk (ATA or AT type) from being configured by Windows NT 4.0. To enable operation of a PC Card hard disk in a PC Card adapter, you must edit the Windows NT Registry.
WARNING Be careful when making changes in the Registry. Any mistakes or incorrect
changes may cause serious operating system problems, and you may have to reinstall the operating system. If the system becomes unusable after you have
modified the Registry, restart the system and try to use the Last Known Good configuration option to undo the damage. See Windows NT documentation for more information on the Last Known Good configuration option.
To enable PC Card hard disk operation:
3
1. Start the Registry Editor (
REGEDT32.EXE) to open the Registry.
2. Open the following subkey in the Registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pcmcia
3. From the Edit menu, select Add Value.
4. In the Value Name box, type InterruptMask.
