General
Ultra/Wide SCSI Systems
Versions of the InterServe 605, 615, and 625 now ship with Ultra/Wide SCSI support. These systems
are designated as -UW systems (for example, InterServe 605UW, 615UW, 625UW).
NOTEUltra/Wide SCSI support is not available on InterServe 6x5R systems..
On these systems, the external SCSI port supports Ultra SCSI peripherals, while the internal SCSI bus
supports Ultra/Wide SCSI peripherals. The disk drives shipped in these systems are Ultra/Wide SCSI
drives. Any additional disk drives ordered for use in these systems should be Ultra/Wide non-RAID
SCSI drives. See the System Reference delivered with these systems for more information.
On these systems, when setting up your system for the first time, you should do so as follows:
1. Set up the basic system hardware as described in the system documentation. However, do not
connect any external peripherals to the system’s SCSI ports.
2. Start the system and complete operating system Setup as described in the system documentation.
1
3. Use the Windows NT Disk Administrator program to assign drive letter C to the primary system
disk drive.
4. Connect any external peripherals to the system’s SCSI ports.
5. Configure the system as described in the system documentation.
This ensures that any system devices which require access to drive C, and which assume that drive C is
the primary system disk drive, do not operate incorrectly or cause any operating system errors. See
Disk Administrator Help for instructions on assigning a drive letter.
Canadian Class A Compliance Label
On InterServe 6x5 systems that contain redundant power supplies, the label that indicates Class A
compliance with the Canadian Interference-Causing Equipment Regulations is located under the
system’s top cover. The label contains the following text:
This Class A digital apparatus meets all requirements of the Canadian Interference-Causing
Equipment Regulations. Cet appareil numérique de la classe A respecte toutes les exigencies du
Règlement sur le materiél brouilleur du Canada.
Product ID Label Note
On InterServe 6x5 systems that contain redundant power supplies, the product ID label is located under
the system’s top cover. The product ID label contains the system’s model number, manufacturing date,
and serial number.
System Reference
The System Setup and System Introduction documents delivered with your InterServe system may have
directions for getting the System Reference document from the Intergraph Bulletin Board Service

(IBBS) or Intergraph’s File Transfer Protocol (FTP) site. A Portable Document Format (PDF) file for
the System Reference is now delivered in the
hard disk drive. You can use the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print this file. A copy of the
Adobe Acrobat Reader installer is also delivered in
that directory for more information.

MegaRAID Controller Assignments
If you install additional RAID controllers in an InterServe 615, 625, 635, or 645 system, be aware that
the RAID controller scan order is not as described in the InterRAID documentation. The MegaRAID
BIOS Configuration utility and the MegaRAID Power Console program detect the presence of
MegaRAID controllers and assign the controller numbers in dissimilar ways. The assignments also
vary depending on the system’s boot device.

The following tables show how Power Console and BIOS Configuration list from one to four installed
MegaRAID controllers when the MegaRAID controller in PCI slot 1 is the boot device.

Installing QFE Software
Intergraph’s Quick-Fix Engineering (QFE) update software contains fixes for operating system
problems or limitations. If a system requires Quick-Fix Engineering (QFE) update software, it is
installed on the system before it leaves the factory. If QFE update software is installed on the system,
you can (and should) create a QFE backup diskette using InterSite Version Manager.
If you reinstall Windows NT 4.0 and the Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 software, be sure to reinstall
the QFE update software as well. Install the QFE update software after you reinstall Service Pack 3
software. QFE update software contains post-Service Pack 3 fixes.
