NOTICE !
This transceiver is programmable via PC, using the dedicated software and the PC interface cable (optional items). Any programming or modification of the original default setting must be made by a specialised technician or by an authorised service centre. Some functions of this transceiver might be programmed in violation of the technical rules in force for the use of the VHF and UHF FM bands. It is the user’s responsibility to check that any modification to the programming will be done in compliance with the current regulations. Any modification to the product, alteration of the internal circuit, of the external structure of the radio or any programming in violation of the current regulations will automatically void the product certification and your right to use the product. INTEK S.R.L. declines any responsibility concerning any modification of the product, made by the user or by a third party, after delivery of the product.
NOTICE !
This transceiver has been factory programmed, in order to use the product immediately after purchase. The programming includes the activation of channels/frequencies in the VHF and UHF FM Amateur Bands, according to the technical rules in force for the use of this bands.

Safety notice
The user must know and understand the common risks related to the use of transceivers. Do not use the transceiver in environments at risk of explosion (where there are gas, dusts, smokes, etc.). Do not use the transceiver in service areas or fuel stations, on board aircrafts, etc.
Cautions
Please observe the following precautions, in order to avoid causing fire, personal injuries or damage to the radio:
It is suggested that each transmitted message lasts a few minutes only, since very long transmissions at the maximum transmitter RF output power may overheat the transmitter.
Do not alter or modify in any way your transceiver.
Do not expose the transceiver for a long time to direct sunlight and do not place it close to heat sources.
Do not expose the transceiver to excessively dusty or damp places, do not place it on unstable surfaces.
In case of anomalous smell or smoke that leaks out from the transceiver, turn it off immediately and remove the battery pack. Please contact an authorised service center.
Please do not dispose off used battery with common garbage. Please use the dedicated disposal containers.

Unpacking and checking parts
Carefully unpack the product. Please identify all the parts listed below, before wasting the packaging. If any part is missing or if the packaging shows any damage, please contact your dealer immediately.

Battery charging
Connect the 230VAC adaptor charger to the desk type battery charger and to a 230VAC outlet. The red Led will flash to confirm that the charger is powered.
Insert the empty battery or the transceiver with the battery pack in the battery charger. Please make sure that the charging contacts of the radio are connected with the charging contacts of the charger cradle. The Red Led will light then the device is ready to begin the charging process. The charging time depends on the battery condition and capacity). When the charging process has finished, the Red Led lights off and the Green Led will light. Remove the battery pack or the transceiver from the battery charger and disconnect it from the AC outlet.
Warning !
The battery is supplied empty and it has to be fully recharged before use.
Some complete cycles of charge/discharge will be necessary in order for the battery to reach a peak efficiency level.
Please do not charge the battery again when it has just been charged. Otherwise, you may damage the battery or reduce its life.
The battery charger does not switch OFF automatically when charging is complete, therefore please remove battery or radio from the charger cradle and disconnect it from the AC outlet.
Do not recharge battery for more than 8 hours, in order to avoid battery overheating.
To install the battery
Place the battery pack on the radio as showed in the drawing (item 1).
Push the battery pack forward (item 2) until it is locked on the radio (item 3).

To remove the battery
To remove the battery pack, press the battery lock on the radio (item 1) and push back the battery pack, as showed in the drawing (item 2).
Warning !
Please do not waste used batteries into the environment and do not trash them with the common garbage. Please use the dedicated case for the collection of used up batteries at your supplier.
Do not attempt to open or remove the battery casing.
Do not short the battery terminals or throw the used batteries into fire.
Installing the antenna
Connect the antenna to the antenna connector located on the top panel of the radio. Gently turn the antenna clockwise until locked.
Warning : Do not touch the antenna and do not move it close to a microphone cable during transmission, as this might cause malfunction and damage to the radio.

To install / to remove the belt clip
If necessary, attach the belt clip to the tranceiver, making it slide along the fit runner placed on the rear side of the battery (1) untill the lock will hook. To remove the belt clip press the lock and slide the belt clip away from the battery (2).
To install the external microphone (optional)
To install the external microphone, swing the protection cover of the external microphone/speaker jack. This cover ensures the watertight integrity of the transceiver (spray-guard) that will not be ensured after its removing. Insert the connector of the external microphone into the right jack.
In order to avoid mulfunction or damage to the transceiver, use only original microphones. Using non original accessories will authomatically void the warranty.
Warning !
If an external earset-microphone is used, radio will not be splash proof.

GETTING ACQUAINTED WITH THE PRODUCT
1. Antenna
Rubber flexible antenna with SMA connector.
2. Power ON Switch and Volume Control
Switch on the transceiver turning the knob clockwise or counterclockwise to switch it off. To increase the volume, turn the knob clockwise or counterclockwise to decrease it.
3. RX/TX LED Indicator
The LED indicator will light in green colour when the radio is receiving a signal and in red colour during transmission.
4. Speaker
Built-in speaker.
5. LCD Display
Backlighted Dot Matrix LCD Display, provides clear reading and full information on every function and status of the radio
6. UP/DOWN Keys
Frequency/Channels and menu operation selection keys.
7. MENU / CONFIRMATION Key
Press this key to Enter the menu mode. This key is also used to confirm the required function in the menu mode.

8. Keypad
Backlighted rubber Keypad.
9. FUN (Exit) Key
This key is used in combination with other keys for select different functions. It is also used to exit the programming menu.
10. Microphone
Built-in microphone.
11. PTT key (Push-To-Talk)
To transmit, press and keep pressed the PTT key (11), then speak into the microphone (10) with your normal voice. To receive release the PTT key (11).
12. Lamp / Call Tone / FM RADIO Key
Quickly press this key to switch ON and OFF the LCD and keypad backlight function. Press and hold this key to transmit the Call Tone Melody. Press the FUN key (9) and the LAMP key (12) to enter the FM Radio Mode.
13. MONITOR Key
Press this key to open the Squelch and release it to close the Squelch. This function opens Squelch in order to listen to the background noise and weak signals.
14. External earset-microphone jack rubber cover
This cover protects the external earset-microphone jack and makes the radio splash proof.
15. Desktop Charger Contacts
16. * Key
Radio has a Dual-Channel/Dual-Frequency LCD Display. The * key (16) is used to select the desired upper line "A" (W) or lower line "B" (V) Channel/Frequency indication. (Please refer to the LCD Display drawing). The arrowhead icons (R) indicate the selected Channel/Frequency A (W) or B (V). For operating the Dual Watch function Dual Watch function, please refer to DW : Dual

LCD DISPLAY
A. Signal Digital Bar Meter
Indicates the received signal strenght in the receive mode.
B. FM Icon
Indicates that the receiver is in FM RADIO mode.
C. S Icon
When the dual watch function is OFF, it indicates the secondary receiving frequency. Please refer to Dual Watch function (MENU 32) at page 18-19.
D. CTS Icon
The CTS indication is lighted when the CTCSS function is enabled.
E. DCS Icon
The DCS indication is lighted when the DCS function is enabled.
F. N Icon
It indicates the Narrow bandwidth mode. Please refer to W/N function (MENU 27) at page 17-18.
G. R Icon
The R icon is lighted when the Reverse function is enabled.
H.
+ -
Icons
The + and - icons indicate if the transmitting frequency is higher (+) or lower (-) than the receiving frequency on the used channel. Please refer to RPTMOD function (MENU 21) at page 16.
I. SCR Icon
Not available on this model.
L. 1750 Hz tone Icon
1750 Hz tones transmitting indicator.
M. ANI Icon
Non available on this model.

N. Numerical Indication
It shows the selected Channel/Memory Number and the function number in the Menu Mode.
O. Battery Level Indicator
It shows the current battery level condition.
P. Channel Scanning Icon
This Icon is lighed when the selected channel is programmed to the scanning list. Please refer to
SCNADD function (MENU item 24) at page 17.
Q.SSSS Icon
The SSSS icon (Q) is lighted when the power save mode is enabled. Please refer to SAVE function (MENU 15) at page 15.
R. Selected Frequency/Channel Icon
The arrowhead icon (R) indicates the selected Channel/Frequency A (Upline) or B (Dowline). Please refer to * Key (16) description at page 8.
S. Frequency Reading (75-25).
It shows the frequency decimals (KHz).
T. Keypad Lock Icon
The Lock icon is lighted when the keypad lock function has been enabled.
U. VOX Icon
The VOX icon is lighted when the VOX function has been enabled.
V. Lower Line Dot Matrix Indication ("B")
It provides full information on channel, frequency and all enabled functions.
W. Upper Line Dot Matrix Indication ("A")
It provides full information on channel, frequency and all enabled functions.
X. RF Digital Meter
It indicates the transmitter RF output power.
Y. H Icon
The H icon is lighted when the transmitter is in HIGH POWER mode.
GETTING STARTED Power ON
Switch on the transceiver turning the Power/Volume knob (2) clockwise until you hear a click, the transceiver now is in stand-by mode.
Volume adjustment
To adjust the volume, turn the volume knob (2) while using the MONITOR (13) key to listen to the background noise of the channels.
Channel Mode
In CHANNEL MODE, press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to choose channels, or use numeric keys (8) to input the desired channel number (from 1 to128).

Frequency Mode
In FREQUENCY MODE, press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select the desired frequancy, or use numeric keys (8) to manually input the desired frequency number. (NOTE: The defaults frequency step is
12.5KHz. Refer to STEP function at page 16 to select the desired frequency step.
Transmission / Receiving
In order to transmit, press the PTT (11) key and speak with your normal voice, keeping the microphone at about 4 cm from your mouth. The LED indicator (3) will light in red color. Release the PTT (11) key at the end of transmission. When receiving a signal, the LED indicator (3) will light in green colour. In VOX Mode, trasmission is automatically initiated by speaking into the microphone (10) and there is no need to push the PTT key (11).
Channel Saving
In FREQUENCY MODE, to store the desired frequency in a memory channel, please proceed as follow :
1. Press FUN key (9); the FUNC indication (W) appears on the LCD display (5).
2. Press MENU key (7); the SAVE indication (W) appears on the LCD display (5).
3. Press UP/DOWN keys (6) to select the desired channel number (V), from 1 to 128.
4. Press MENU key (7) to confirm and store channel.
Channel Deletion
To delete a channel, radio must be in CHANNEL-FREQUENCY MODE (CHFREQ).
1. Select the channel to remove and then turn OFF the radio.
2. Hold on the * key while turn on the radio. The LCD will show DEL ? (W) and the selected channel
number (N).
3. Press the MENU key (7) to confirm. After operation, the transceiver will return to CHANNEL­FREQUENCY MODE.
MENU SHORTCUT KEYS
Press the FUN (9) key, then press the numeric key to enter appropriate items. This shortcut function is same as the items of menu, but they more easy to operate the Two Way Radio.

Menu Operation Details
Press the MENU key (7) to enter the MENU mode. Press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select the desired menu item, indicated by the flashing numerical indication (N) (from 01 to 33) and press the MENU key (7) to confirm; the selected function will be indicated by the arrowhead (R). Press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select the desired feature and press the MENU key (7) to confirm and return to MENU mode, or press the FUN key (9) to confirm and return to Stand-by status.
Note : This radio has a Dual Channel/ Dual Frequency 2-line reading LCD. User can operate on two separate VHF or UHF frequencies or channels (A and B). The up (A) and down (B) Channel/Frequency indications (W / V) will display different options/settings that can be set using the menu. The indications can be selected by pressing the * key (16).
SCAN : Scan Modes (MENU 01)
In MENU mode, select the function 01 (N); the SCAN indication (W) will appear on the LCD display (5). Press the MENU key (7) to confirm and press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select the modes CO, TO or SE.
CO : It is carrier scan mode. Scan stops on a signal until it is no more detected. TO : Whenever a signal is detected, the radio will suspend the scan function for 5 seconds, and then it
will continue to scan even if the signal is still present.
SE : It is carrier scan mode. If a signal is detected, radio stop scanning and exits the Scan Mode.
Press the MENU key (7) to confirm the operation then press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select other functions or press the FUN key (9) to return to standby status.
Press FUN key (9) and 0 key to start automatic Scan function. Press FUN key (9) to stop scanning.
TOT : Time Out Timer Setup (MENU 02)
In MENU mode, select the item 02 (N); the TOT indication (W) will appear on the LCD display (5). Press MENU key (7) to confirm and press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select the desired transmitting time from 30 to 240 seconds or select OFF to disable the TOT function. Press the MENU key (7) to confirm the operation then press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select other functions or press the FUN key (9) to return to standby status. This feature sets the maximum transmit time before going back to receive automatically. The TOT function avoid to transmit for an endless time, in order to prevent overheating or damage to the transceiver. After a programmable time of 30-240 seconds of uninterrupted transmission, the transceiver automatically stops the transmission emitting a warning tone .

VOX : Handsfree Operation (MENU 03)
In MENU mode, select the item 03 (N); the VOX indication (W) will appear on the LCD display (5). Press MENU key (7) to confirm and press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select OFF (function disabled) or the desired VOX level from 1 (low sensitivity) to 9 (high sensitivity). When the VOX function is enabled, the VOX icon (U) appears on LCD display (5). Press the MENU key (7) to confirm the operation then press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select other functions or press the FUN key (9) to return to standby status. In VOX Mode, trasmission is automatically initiated by speaking into the microphone (10) and there is no need to push the PTT key (11).
WARNING ! Please make sure that the ROGER BEEP function is disabled before enabling the VOX Mode !
CAL : Call Tone Setting (MENU 04)
In MENU mode, select the item 04 (N); the CAL indication (W) will appear on the LCD display (5). Press MENU key (7) to confirm and press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select the desired call tone melodies (1, 2, 3, 4) or OFF (function disabled). Press the MENU key (7) to confirm the operation then press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select other functions or press the FUN key (9) to return to standby status. Press and hold the LAMP key (12) to transmit the Call Tone melody.
ROG : Roger Beep Tone Setup (MENU 05)
In MENU mode, select the item 05 (N); the ROG indication (W) will appear on the LCD display (5). Press MENU key (7) to confirm and press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select the desired Roger Beep tone (1, 2 or 3) or OFF (function disabled). Press the MENU key (7) to confirm the operation then press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select other functions or press the FUN key (9) to return to standby status. Roger Beep Tone feature enables you to send a Beep Tone at the end of each transmission after every release of the PTT key (11). This will prompt any receiving unit that your transmission has ended.
BEEP : Keypad Tone (MENU 06)
In MENU mode, select the item 06 (N); the BEEP indication (W) will appear on the LCD display (5). Press MENU key (7) to confirm and press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select ON (keypad tone enabled) or OFF (keypad tone disabled). Press the MENU key (7) to confirm the operation then press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select other functions or press the FUN key (9) to return to standby status.
KYLOCK : Keypad Lock Setup (MENU 07)
In MENU mode, select the item 07 (N); the KYLOCK indication (W) will appear on the LCD display (5). Press MENU key (7) to confirm and press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select MANU or AUTO modes.
MANU : The keypad will be locked manually. AUTO : The keypad will be auto-locked in about 15 seconds after the last key-press.
Press the MENU key (7) to confirm the operation then press the UP/DOWN keys (6) to select other functions or press the FUN key (9) to return to standby status.
Press MENU key (7) and * key to manually lock the keypad. Press and Hold the FUN key (9) for 2 Seconds to Unlock the Keypad.
