Important safeguards
Congratulations on your purchase of this
high-quality Insignia product. Your NS-DS1902
5-Disc CD player represents the state of the art
in CD players, and is designed for reliable and
trouble-free performance.
To reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock, do not
expose this CD player to rain or moisture.
The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an
equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the
presence of uninsulated dangerous voltage within the
product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude
to constitute a risk of electric shock.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is
intended to alert the user to the presence of important
operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the
literature accompanying the appliance.
CAUTION
INVISIBLE LASER RADIATION
WHEN OPEN AND INTERLOCKS
DEFEATED.
AVOID EXPOSURE TO BEAM
1 Read instructions—Read all safety and
operating instructions before using the CD
player.
2 Retain instructions—Keep this user guide for
future reference.
3 Heed warnings—You should follow all
warnings on the CD player and in the user
guide.
4 Follow instructions—You should follow all
operating and use instructions.
5 Cleaning—Unplug the CD player from the
power outlet before cleaning. Do not use
liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a
damp cloth for cleaning.
6 Attachments—Do not use attachments not
recommended by Insignia, because they may
cause hazards.
7 Water and moisture—Do not use this CD
player near water. For example, near a bath
tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub,
in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool.
8 Accessories—Do not place this CD player on
an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or
table. The CD player may fall, causing
serious injury to someone, and serious
damage to the CD player. Use only with a
cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table
recommended by Insignia, or sold with the
CD player.
Any mounting of the CD
player should follow this
guide’s instructions and
should use a mounting
accessory recommended by
Insignia. A CD player and cart
combination should be moved
with care. Quick stops, excessive force, and
uneven surfaces may cause the CD player
and cart combination to overturn.
9 Ventilation—Slots and openings in the
cabinet and the back or bottom are provided
for ventilation, to ensure reliable operation of
the CD player, and to protect it from
overheating. These openings must not be
blocked or covered. The openings should
never be blocked by placing the CD player on
a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface. This
CD player should never be placed near or
over a radiator or heat register. This CD
player should not be placed in a built-in
installation such as a bookcase or rack
unless proper ventilation is provided or these
instructions have been adhered to.
10 Power sources—This CD player should be
operated only from the type of power source
indicated on the marking label. If you are not
sure of the type of power supply to your
home, consult your dealer or local power
company. For CD players intended to operate
from battery power, or other sources, refer to
the following instructions.
This product contains a low-power laser device.

NS-DA1902 5-Disc CD Player
11 Grounding or polarization—This CD player is
equipped with a polarized alternating-current
line plug (a plug having one blade wider than
the other). This plug will fit into the power
outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If
you are unable to insert the plug fully into the
outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug
should still fail to fit, contact your electrician
to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat
the safety purpose of the polarized plug.
12 Power-cord protection—Power-supply cords
should be routed so that they are not likely to
be walked on or pinched by items placed
upon or against them, paying particular
attention to cords at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit
from the CD player.
13 Lightning—For added protection during a
lightning storm, or when it is left unattended
and unused for long periods of time, unplug it
from the power outlet and disconnect the
antenna or cable system. This will prevent
damage to the CD player due to lightning and
power-line surges.
14 Overloading—Do not overload power outlets
and extension cords as this can result in a
risk of fire or electric shock.
15 Object and liquid entry—Never push objects
of any kind into this CD player through
openings because they may touch dangerous
voltage points or short out parts that could
result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill
liquid of any kind on the CD player.
16 Servicing—Do not attempt to service this CD
player yourself because opening or removing
covers may expose you to dangerous voltage
or other hazards. Refer all servicing to
qualified service personnel.
17 Damage requiring service—Unplug this CD
player from the power outlet and refer
servicing to qualified service personnel under
the following conditions:
a. When the power supply cord or plug is
damaged or frayed.
b. If liquid has been spilled, or objects have
fallen into the CD player.
c. If the CD player has been exposed to rain
or water.
d. If the CD player does not operate normally
after you follow the operating instructions.
Adjust only those controls that are covered by
the operating instructions, because improper
adjustment of other controls may result in
damage and will often require extensive work
by a qualified technician to restore the CD
player to its normal operation.
e. If the CD player has been dropped or
damaged in any way.
f. When the CD player exhibits a distinct
change in performance.
18 Replacement parts—When replacement
parts are required, make sure that the
service technician uses replacement parts
specified by Insignia that have the same
characteristics as the original part.
Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire,
electric shock, injury to persons or other
hazards.
19 Safety check—Upon completion of any
service or repairs to this CD player, ask the
service technician to perform routine safety
checks to determine that the CD player is in
proper operating condition.
20 Heat—This CD player product should be
situated away from heat sources such as
radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other
products (including amplifiers) that produce
heat.
Precautions
•Place your CD player in a room with
adequate ventilation.
•Keep your CD player set away from sources
of direct heat, such as heat registers or direct
sunlight.
•Do not place your CD player on soft surfaces,
such as rugs or blankets.
•Leave enough room for air to circulate around
the bottom, top and back of the set.
Caution
Note
Note
To prevent electric shock, match wide blade
of plug to wide slot, fully insert.
When you leave this CD player in a room
that is warm and damp, water droplets or
condensation may form inside the player.
When there is condensation inside the
player, the player may not function normally.
Let the player stand for 1 to 2 hours before
turning the power on, or gradually heat the
room and dry the CD player before use.
Batteries should never be thrown away or
incinerated but disposed of in accordance
with your local regulations concerning
chemical wastes.

Unpacking and setup
This CD player consists of the following
components:
•5-Disc CD player
•RCA cable
•User Guide
•Remote control unit
•Battery (CR2025)
If you need to replace these accessories, call
our help line mentioned in the Warranty section
of this guide.
Carefully remove all the components from the
carton and verify that you have all the necessary
components before you dispose of the carton.
•Remove all packing materials from the
individual components.
•Place the CD player in the location you want.
This player is designed to be used on a level,
stable, flat surface, such as a table, desk,
shelf, or stand convenient to a power outlet,
out of direct sunlight, and away from sources
of excess heat, dust, moisture, or vibration.
•Unwind the AC power cord and extend the
cord to its full length.
Power source
This system is designed to operate on 120V AC
60 Hz house current only. Connecting this
system to any other power source may damage
the system. This type of damage is not covered
by your warranty.
•Using the RCA cable (provided), connect the
left (white) and right (red) LINE OUT jacks on
your CD player to the left and right AUX IN
jacks on the amplifier.
•Be sure the AC power cord is disconnected
and all functions are off before making
connections. Make sure all the components
are connected correctly.
•Disconnect the power cord when you are not
going to operate the CD player for an
extended period of time.
Remote control battery
The remote control requires one CR2025 battery
(included). When the operation of the remote
control becomes intermittent or unsatisfactory,
replace the original battery with new battery.
To activate the battery (initial use):
•Remove the PVC sheet from the battery tray.
To replace the battery:
1 Pull the battery tray out of the remote.
Warning
The system uses a polarized AC plug with
one wide blade and one narrow blade. The
plug will only fit into matching polarized
power outlets. This is a safety feature to
reduce the possibility of electric shock. If the
plug will not fit in your power outlets, you
probably have outdated, non-polarized
outlets which should be changed by a
qualified, licensed electrician. Do not file the
wide blade on the plug or use an adapter to
make the plug fit into your outlet. This
defeats the safety feature and could expose
you to electric shock.
Setting up your CD player
Connections
Connect your CD player as follows:
2 Place the battery in the battery tray, matching
the polarity as indicated.
3 Replace the battery tray.
Warning
Caution
Do not dispose of the battery in fire. The
battery may explode or leak.
• Make sure that you follow the correct
polarity as indicated in the illustration.
A reversed battery may damage the
device.
• If the remote is not to be used for a
long period of time, remove the battery
to prevent damage or injury from
possible battery leakage.
