events and provides a maximum output power of
800W (PROTON-12) or 1500 W (PROTON-15).
For transport, the satellite speakers and the corresponding connection cables can be stowed in the subwoofer cabinet which is equipped with castors and
thus ideally suited for mobile applications.
4 Setting-up and Connection
1) Open the flap on the rear side of the subwoofer
system to take out the satellite speakers. Make
sure that the flap is properly closed again to allow
an optimum bass reproduction during operation.
2) Place each satellite speaker on a PAspeaker stand
(e.g. PAST-162 by “img Stage Line”) at a suitable
place. It would be best to place the subwoofer
system centrically between the two satellite speak-
ers, then lock the two castors at the front.
3) As a signal source, connect an audio unit with line
output level (e.g. mixer, CD player, etc.). Connect
the two stereo channels of the signal source via an
XLR or 6.3mm plug each to the balanced INPUT
jacks (4) or via a cable with phono connectors to
the unbalanced phono INPUT jacks (7) – R = right
channel, L = left channel.
4) At the corresponding output LINK (3 or 6) the input
signal fed through is available. This output allows to
connect the input of another active speaker system
if PA application of even larger zones is required.
5) Connect the satellite speakers to the jacks SAT
SPEAKER (5) via the connection cables supplied.
Connect the SPEAKON
®
plugs to the corresponding jacks and turn them clockwise until they lock
into place. For later removal, push the locking latch
on the plug to the rear and turn the plug counterclockwise.
6) Finally connect the supplied mains cable to the
mains jack (13) and to a mains socket (230 V~/
50Hz).
5 Operation
1) Switch on the signal source connected.
2) Prior to switching on, set the control VOL (8) to zero
to prevent switching noise. Then switch on the PA
system with the mains switch POWER (12): The
upper LED AMP. ON/PROT. (2) will show red for a
few seconds after switching on (protective circuit
activated, unit muted) and then change to green
(normal operation).
3) Adjust the volume with the control VOL (8). From a
certain volume, the lower LED NORM. (2) will light
up to the rhythm of the music.
If the level is too high, the central LED LIMIT. (2)
will light up to indicate that the integrated limiter circuit is active. The limiter circuit serves to limit the signal level: If the level exceeds a maximum value defined, it is adjusted downward to this value by the
limiter circuit. If the LED LIMIT. should light permanently , turn back the volume control correspondingly.
4) Adjust the volume ratio between the subwoofer and
the satellite speakers with the control BALANCE
(10) in such a way that a natural bass reproduction
will result.
5) For stereo operation, press the button STEREO
(1 1). The LED STnext to the button will light up. For
mono operation, unlock the button.
6) During stereo operation, the button SURROUND
(9) may be pressed to improve the surround sound.
With the button pressed, the corresponding LED
ON will light up.
7) After operation, set the control VOL to zero first,
then switch off the unit with the switch POWER.
6 Specifications
Subject to technical modification.
CAUTION Never adjust a very high volume. Per-
manent high volumes may damage
your hearing! The human ear will get
accustomed to high volumes which do
not seem to be that high after some
time. Therefore, do not further increase
a high volume after getting used to it.
