GREASE FIRE: [] Never leave the surface units unattended at high settings.

Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite. Heat oils slowly on low or medium settings.

flambeing food (i.e. Crepes Suzette, Cherries Jubilee,

Peppercorn Beef Flamb6).

[] Clean ventilating fans frequently. Grease should not be

allowed to accumulate on fan or filter.

[] Use proper pan size. Always use cookware appropriate for

the size of the surface element.

Gather the required tools and parts before starting installation. Read and follow the instructions provided with any tools listed

here.

• Drill with 11¼"(3 cm), 3/8"(9.5 mm), 7/64"(2.75 mm) and 1/8"(3 mm) drill bits

• Pencil

• Wire stripper or utility knife

• Tape measure or ruler

• Caulking gun and weatherproof caulking compound

• Vent clamps

• Jigsaw or keyhole saw

• Flat-blade screwdriver

• Metal snips

• Metric Allen wrench set

• Two _/2"(12.7 mm) UL listed or CSA approved strain reliefs

• 3 UL listed wire connectors

• 1 wall or roof cap

• Metal vent system

• Charcoal Filter Kit Part Number 4396848 - for non-vented (recirculating) installations only. See "Assistance or Service"

section to order.

IMPORTANT: Observe all governing codes and ordinances. Have a qualified technician install the range hood. It is the

installer's responsibility to comply with installation clearances specified on the model/serial rating plate. The model/serial rating plate is located behind the left filter on the rear wall of the range

hood. Range hood location should be away from strong draft areas,

such as windows, doors and strong heating vents. Cabinet opening dimensions that are shown must be used. Given

dimensions provide minimum clearance. Grounded electrical outlet is required. See "Electrical

Requirements" section. The range hood is factory set for venting through the roof or wall. For non-vented (recirculating) installations see "Non-vented

(recirculating) Installations" in "Connect Vent System" section. Charcoal Filter Kit Part Number 4396848 is available from your dealer or an authorized parts distributor.

All openings in ceiling and wall where range hood will be installed must be sealed.

For Mobile Home Installations

The installation of this range hood must conform to the Manufactured Home Construction Safety Standards, Title 24 CFR, Part 328 (formerly the Federal Standard for Mobile Home Construction and Safety, Title 24, HUD, Part 280) or when such standard is not applicable, the standard for Manufactured Home Installation 1982 (Manufactured Home Sites, Communities and Setups) ANSI A225.1/NFPA 501A*, or latest edition, or with local

codes.

• Vent system must terminate to the outside, except for non- vented (recirculating) installations.

• Do not terminate the vent system in an attic or other enclosed area.

• Do not use 4" (10.2 cm) laundry-type wall caps.

• Use metal vent only. Rigid metal vent is recommended. Do not use plastic or metal foil vent.

• The vent system must have a damper. If the roof or wall cap has a damper, do not use the damper supplied with the range

hood.

For the most efficient and quiet operation:

• Use a straight run or as few elbows as possible.

• Use no more than three 90° elbows.

• Make sure there is a minimum of 24" (61 cm) of straight vent between the elbows if more than 1 elbow is used.

• Do not install 2 elbows together.

• Use clamps to seal all joints in the vent system.

• Use caulking to seal exterior wall or roof opening around the cap.

• The size of the vent should be uniform.

Cold weather installations An additional back draft damper should be installed to minimize

backward cold air flow. A nonmetallic thermal break should be installed to minimize conduction of outside temperatures as part

of the vent system. The damper should be on the cold air side of the thermal break.

The break should be as close as possible to where the vent system enters the heated portion of the house.

Venting Methods

This range hood is factory set for venting through the roof or wall. A 6" (15.2 cm) round vent system is needed for installation (not

included). The hood exhaust opening is 6" (15.2 cm) round. NOTE: Flexible vent is not recommended. Flexible vent creates

back pressure and air turbulence that greatly reduce performance.

Vent system can terminate either through the roof or wall. To vent through a wall, a 90° elbow is needed.

Rear discharge

A 90° elbow may be installed immediately above the hood.

For non-vented (recirculating) installations If it is not possible to vent cooking fumes and vapors to the

outside, the hood can be used in the non-vented (recirculating) version, fitting an activated carbon filter and the deflector. Fumes and vapors are recycled through the top grille.

Calculating Vent System Length

To calculate the length of the system you need, add the equivalent feet (meters) for each vent piece used in the system.

Makeup air

Local building codes may require the use of makeup air systems when using ventilation systems greater than specified CFM of air

movement.

Maximum equivalent vent length is 35 ft (10.7 m).

It is the customer's responsibility to contact a qualified electrical installer, and to ensure that the electrical installation is adequate and in conformance with National Electrical Code, ANSl/NFPA 70 (latest edition), or CSA Standards C22.1-94, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 and C22.2 No. 0-M91 (latest edition) and all local

codes and ordinances. If codes permit and a separate ground wire is used, it is

recommended that a qualified electrician determine that the ground path is adequate.

• A 120 Volt, 60 Hz., AC only 15-amp fused, electrical circuit is required.

• Do not ground to a gas pipe.

• Check with a qualified electrician if you are not sure range hood is properly grounded.

• Do not have a fuse in the neutral or ground circuit.

• The range hood must be connected with copper wire only.

• The range hood should be connected directly to the fused disconnect (or circuit breaker) box through flexible armored or nonmetallic sheathed copper cable. It is recommended that a separate circuit serving only this hood be provided.

• Wire sizes (copper wire only) and connections must conform with the rating of the appliance as specified on the model/ serial rating plate. The model/serial plate is located behind

the filter on the rear wall of the hood. Wire sizes must conform to the requirements of the National

Electrical Code, ANSl/NFPA 70 (latest edition), or CSA Standards C22.1-94, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 and C22.2 No. 0-M91 (latest edition) and all local codes and

ordinances.

• A 1/2"(12.7 mm) UL listed or CSA approved strain relief must be provided at each end of the power supply cable (at the range hood and at the junction box).

INSTALLATIONINSTRUCTIONS

It is recommended that the vent system be installed before hood is installed.

Do not cut a joist or stud unless absolutely necessary. If a joist or stud must be cut, then a supporting frame must be constructed.

• Before making cutouts, make sure there is proper clearance within the ceiling or wall for exhaust vent.

• Check your ceiling height and the hood height maximum before you select your hood.

Excessive Weight Hazard

Use two or more people to move and install range. Failure to do so can result in back or other injury.

If possible, disconnect and move freestanding or slide-in range from cabinet opening to provide easier access to rear wall. Otherwise, put a thick, protective covering over countertop, cooktop or range to protect from damage or dirt.

2. Determine which venting method to use: roof, wall, or non- vented.

3. Select a flat surface for assembling the range hood. Cover that surface with a protective covering.

Excessive Weight Hazard

Use two or more people to move and install range hood.

Failure to do so can result in back or other injury.

Using 2 or more people, lift range hood onto protective surface.

Determine and mark the centerline on the wall where the hood will be installed.

Select a mounting height above the cooking surface to the bottom of the hood which is between a minimum of

30" (76.2 cm) and a suggested maximum of 36" (91.4 cm). Mark a reference line on the wall.

NOTE: For installation locations with reduced ceiling heights, the hood may be installed using the lower vent cover for both

vented and non-vented (recirculating) installations.

7. Tape template in place, aligning the template centerline and bottom of template with hood bottom line and with the

centerline marked on the wall.

Drill 3/8"(9.5 mm) holes for wall anchors and insert anchors flush with the wall.

Attach vent cover bracket to wall using 2 - 10 x 60 mm drywall anchors and 2 - 6 x 70 mm screws.

the wall. IMPORTANT: All of the screws must be installed into wood.

Remove the template.

9. Drill %4" (2.75 mm) pilot holes at all locations where screws are being installed into wood.

10. Determine and make all necessary cuts in the wall for the vent system. Install the vent system before installing the hood. See "Venting Requirements" section.

11. Determine the required height for the 1/2"conduit and drill a 11¼"(3.2 cm) hole at this location.

12. Run the 1/2"conduit through the hole. Run wire through the 1/2"conduit according to the National Electrical Code or CSA

Standards and local codes and ordinances. There must be enough 1/2"conduit and wires from the fused disconnect (or

circuit breaker) box to make the connection in the hood's electrical terminal box.

13. Use caulk to seal all openings. NOTE: Do not reconnect power until installation is complete.

14. Insert 2 - 5 x 35 mm screws at the upper screw locations, but do not completely tighten them. Leave a clearance from the wall of about 1/2"( 1.3 cm) for hanging the hood.

Excessive Weight Hazard

Use two or more people to move and install range hood.

Failure to do so can result in back or other injury.

1. Tip range hood back and remove metal filters.

2. Using 2 or more people, hang range hood on the 2 previously installed mounting screws through the keyholes in the back of the range hood.

3. Level the range hood using a level across the bottom of the hood.

Vent Cover Bracket Installation

Installations using telescoping upper and lower vent cover assembly:

1. Position vent cover bracket on wall about 1/8"(3 mm) away from the ceiling.

2. Mark the hole locations.

Secure range hood with 2 mounting screws (C) through remaining 2 holes in the hood and into the lower screw

locations.

6. Use UL listed wire connectors and connect white wires together.

Electrical Shock Hazard

Disconnect power before servicing. Replace all parts and panels before operating.

Failure to do so can result in death or electrical shock.

1. Disconnect power.

2. Remove terminal box cover.

3. Remove the knockout in the terminal box cover and install a UL listed or CSA approved strain relief.

4. Run 3 wires, black, white and green [(or bare) 14 AWG], in 1/2"conduit from service panel to terminal box.

Electrical Shock Hazard

Electrically ground blower. Connect ground wire to green and yellow ground wire

in terminal box.

Failure to do so can result in death or electrical shock.

7. Connect ground wire to green and yellow ground wire in terminal box using UL listed wire connectors.

8. Replace terminal box cover.

9. Check all light bulbs to make sure they are secure in their sockets.

10. Reconnect power.

Vented Installations Only

Install the deflector inside the lower vent cover with 2 - 3 x 9 mm screws provided, using the upper screw holes.

Install Vent Covers Push the lower vent cover down onto the range hood and liftthe

upper vent cover to the ceiling and install 4 - 3 x 9 mm screws.

2. Remove the protective film from the unpainted side of the trim piece.

Install the 3 trim brackets onto the top of the range hood using 6 - 3 x 9 mm screws. Do not completely tighten the screws, to allow adjustments.

3. Apply protective adhesive tape along one edge of the trim piece on the unpainted side.
