ICOM AL-705 User Guide

WARNING
- Never use the Inner or Outer Coaxial cables of the AL
-
705 as a jumper coax.
DESCRIPTION
The AL-705 is a 10 to 40 meter antenna rated at 20W PEP SSB, 10W CW, FM, AM, & Digital.
Assemble the Loop
1) Attach the large radiating element by screwing both of the PL-259s into the SO-239s on the tuning box.
2) Attach the small coupling element to the approximate center of the larger radiating element using the included nylon clip. NOTE – An inner loop that is slightly vertically elongated will result in a slightly lower SWR.
Assembly
Connect the feedline
Attach the feedline to the coupling element, and the other end to your transceiver.
Output power
Please refer to your radio's user manual to ensure settings like Mic Gain, Compression, etc. are properly set for the desired output.
OPERATION
SITE SELECTION
~ Do not place the AL-705 on a metal surface.
~ Place the AL-705 at least 3 feet from metal objects.
~ Place the AL-705 greater than 1 loop diameter above the ground.
~ Place the AL-705 higher to enable it to radiate above and past obstacles.
TUNING
~ Set your transceiver to SSB mode and listen for the loudest noise floor while tuning.
~ Tune and dip the SWR to less than 2.5:1 on your rigs SWR meter or an antenna analyzer.
GUIDANCE
~ By design, one of the center pins on the small coupling element is not soldered.
~ Accessories for the AL-705 are available from www.AlphaAntenna.com.
