Important Safety Instructions:

Read all instructions before

using this humidifier.

1. This humidifier may not work properly on

an uneven surface. ALWAYS place this humidifier on a firm, level, and water resistant surface. ALWAYS place the hu- midifier at least sixteen (16) cm away from walls and heat sources such as stoves, radiators, or heaters.

2. ALWAYS place the humidifier in an area

that is out of the reach of children.

3. Before using the humidifier, extend the cord

and inspect for any signs of damage. DO NOT use the product if the cord has been damaged. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

How The Care Free® Humidifier Plus

4. ALWAYS UNPLUG AND EMPTY the hu-

midifier when it is not in operation or while it is being cleaned.

5. DO NOT tilt or move the humidifier while

it is in operation. Never move the humidifier while there is water in the tank. Empty the water tank, turn off, and unplug the unit before moving.

6. In addition to routine maintenance which may be required, this humidifier requires seasonal cleaning. Refer to and follow

CLEANING THE HUMIDIFIER AND THE WATER TANK instructions.

Evaporative Humidifier Works

The Care Free® Humidifier Plus Evaporative Humidifier has a unique patented design with several innovative features:

• Low Maintenance – Other humidifiers have

paper filters that need to be replaced every few months. Our exclusive PermaWick™ filter saves time and money. It’s designed to last season after season. No wet paper odors either.

• Regulated Release™ System – By dis-

persing water from the top of the PermaWick™ filter, stagnant water around the PermaWick™ filter is eliminated, and the buildup of mineral residue that can clog the filter and impede performance is eliminated. NOTE: The filter has a coating

on the wick which may make it appear old or used, but is actually new.

• Built-in Antimicrobial Properties – The

plastic parts and the PermaWick™ filter have built-in antimicrobial properties to inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold and fungi that may affect these parts.

NOTE: This product contains antimicrobial properties which are built-in to inhibit the growth of bacteria which may affect the plastic and PermaWick™ filter in the humidifier. These properties do not extend to the water, humidified air or users. Conduct routine cleaning and maintenance based upon use and individual conditions.

Humidifier Features

Power Light (Some Models): The light will be illuminated when the power is on.

Fan Power/Speed Control: Tur ns the humidifier ‘ON’ and ‘OFF’. The off position is 0; low is I; medium is II; high is III. The power should always be off before unplugging the humidifier, moving the humidifier, or refilling the water tank.

NiteGlo™ Night Light Control (Some Models): Turns the night light ‘ON’ and ‘OFF’. The night light can be turned on even if the humidifier fan is turned off.

Using Your Humidifier

1. Remove The Care Free® Humidifier Plus Evaporative Humidifier from its packaging. Read and Save the Instructions.

2. Place the humidifier on a hard, flat, water resistant surface. Always place the humidifier at least 16 cm away from walls and sources of heat.

3. Lift the main housing to confirm that the PermaWick™ filters are placed upright in the slots. Replace the main housing. (See Figure 1.)

4. Remove the water tank and take it to the sink or tub to fill.

5. Turn the tank upside down and unscrew the tank cap by turning it counterclockwise. Fill the water tank with cool water and replace the tank cap (Never use hot water). Be sure not to overfill the tank as water damage may occur to furniture or flooring due to spillage.

6. Carry the tank back to the humidifier. Turn the tank upright and place it on the humidifier. Be sure that the tank is seated properly in the base. If the tank is properly located on the base, you will see air bubbles flowing up into the tank.

7. With the power control knob in the ‘OFF’ position, plug the humidifier into the wall. The off position is 0; low is I; medium is II; high is III.

CAUTION: Never plug in the Humidifier while your hands are wet as Electric Shock could occur.

8. Use the power control knob to turn the humidifier ‘ON’ by selecting a speed setting.

Only for models with a NiteGlo™ night light

9. Use the control to turn the night light off and on. The night light can be operated even if the humidifier fan is turned ‘OFF’.

Refilling The Water Tank

1. When the water tank level is low, turn the humidifier ‘OFF’, and unplug.

2. Remove the tank and take it to the sink or tub to refill.

3. Turn the tank upside down and unscrew the tank cap by turning it counterclockwise. Empty the tank, refill with fresh cool water (never use hot water), and replace the tank cap. Be sure not to overfill the tank as water damage may occur to furniture or flooring due to spillage.

HUNTER WILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY CAUSED BY WATER SPILLAGE.

Cleaning The Humidifier And The Water Tank

Many regions have hard water with high concentrations of minerals. When water evaporates from The Care Free Evaporative Humidifier, minerals may be left behind. These minerals can form a hard white scale which can be removed by following the cleaning instructions. The frequency of cleaning due to mineral build up can vary depending upon the quality of water you may have.

Refer to Figure 1 for part names.

1. Turn the humidifier ‘OFF’ and unplug the unit.

2. Lift the main housing and remove the water dispersion tray and the PermaWick™ Filters. The motor is attached to the

main housing. Do not place the motor near water. Do not use a wet towel on the motor or motor housing as electrical shock may occur.

3. The PermaWick™ Filter should be cleaned in a vinegar and water solution to remove any mineral buildup. Place in a solution of

3.5 L of water and 219 mL of undiluted white vinegar. Allow the filter to soak for 20 minutes.

4. After soaking, rinse it several times with clean water. Place the PermaWick™ Filter in a location where it can drip dry while you clean the other parts of your humidifier.

Humidifier Plus

5. Remove the water tank from the base and empty any water that is left in the tank. Soak the base in a mixture of 3.5 L of water and 219 mL of vinegar for 20 minutes.

6. After soaking, wipe the base with a soft cloth or sponge to remove any mineral build up. Rinse with clean water several times. If you are planning on storing the humidifier, be sure the base is completely dry.

7. Fill the water tank with 3.5 L of water and 219 mL of undiluted white vinegar. Replace the tank cap and shake the tank vigorously until all interior surfaces of the tank have been exposed to the water/vinegar mixture.

8. Empty the tank of the water/vinegar mixture. Rinse it several times with clean water and then replace the tank cap. If you are planning on storing the humidifier, dry it inside and out, leaving the cap off to allow the tank to completely dry. Continue to clean the other parts of your humidifier.

9. Remove the water diffuser cap and sponge. Rinse the sponge in clean water to remove any debris. If the sponge contains hard water residue, soak it in a mixture of

10. Wipe the surfaces of the main housing with a soft cloth.

11. Once all the parts are clean, reassemble the humidifier, and follow the

midifier, make sure the parts are completely dry, reassemble, and store in a dry location.

1. Este humidificador puede que no funcione correctamente sobre una superficie que no esté nivelada. SIEMPRE coloque este humidificador sobre una superficie firme, nivelada y resistente al agua. Características del humidificador

Luz de encendido (algunos modelos): Esta luz se iluminará cuando el humidificador esté encendido.

Control de encendido y velocidad del ventilador: Enciende (ON) y apaga (OFF) el

humidificador. La posición de apagado es 0; la baja velocidad es I, media II y alta III. El control debe estar siempre en posición apagada antes de desenchufar el humidificador del tomacorriente, mover el humidificador o rellenar el tanque de agua.

Control de luz nocturna NiteGlo™ (algunos modelos): Enciende (ON) y apaga (OFF) la luz

nocturna. La luz nocturna se puede encender aún si el ventilador del humidificador está apagado.

Forma de usar su humidificador

1. Saque el humidificador evaporativo The Care Free® Humidifier Plus del cartón. Lea y guarde las instrucciones.

2. Coloque el humidificador sobre una superficie dura, plana y resistente al agua. Siempre coloque el humidificador a una distancia de por lo menos 16 cm de las paredes y de fuentes de calor.

3. Levante la cubierta principal para confirmar que los filtros PermaWick™ estén colocados correctamente en las ranuras de soporte. Vuelva a colocar la cubierta principal en su lugar. (Vea la Figura 1).

5. Gire el tanque hacia abajo y desenrosque la tapa del tanque girándola a la izquierda. Llene el tanque con agua fresca y vuelva a taparlo (nunca use agua caliente). Asegúrese de no llenar demasiado el tanque, ya que podría causar daños en los muebles o en los pisos si ocurre algún derrame de agua. 6. Lleve el tanque de vuelta al humidificador. Coloque el tanque en posición derecha e instálelo nuevamente en el humidificador. Si el tanque está colocado correctamente sobre la base, podrá ver burbujas de aire subiendo dentro del tanque.

7. Con la perilla del control de encendido en la posición apagada (OFF), enchufe el humidificador en el tomacorriente de la pared. La posición de apagado es 0; la baja velocidad es I, media II y alta III.

CUIDADO: Nunca enchufe el humidificador cuando sus manos estén mojadas, ya que podría sufrir un choque eléctrico.

8. Use la perilla de control de encendido para encender (ON) el humidificador al seleccionar una de las velocidades de operación.

9. Use el control para encender y apagar la luz nocturna. La luz nocturna se puede operar aún si el ventilador del humidificador está apagado (OFF).

Forma de rellenar el tanque de agua

1. Cuando el nivel del tanque de agua esté muy bajo, apague el humidificador y desenchúfelo del tomacorriente.

2. Retire el tanque de la unidad y llévelo al fregadero o tina para rellenarlo.

3. Gire el tanque hacia abajo y desenrosque la tapa del tanque girándola a la izquierda. Llene el tanque con agua fresca y vuelva a taparlo (nunca use agua caliente). Asegúrese de no llenar demasiado el tanque, ya

1. Apague ("OFF") el humidificador y desconecte la unidad del tomacorriente.

2. Levante la cubierta principal y retire la bandeja de dispersión de agua y los filtros PermaWick™. El motor está fijado a la

cubierta principal. No coloque el motor cerca del agua. No use una toalla húmeda sobre el motor ni sobre la cubierta del motor, porque podría ocurrir un choque eléctrico.

3. El filtro PermaWick™ se debe limpiar en una solución de agua con vinagre para quitar cualquier acumulación de depósitos minerales. Coloque el filtro en una solución de 3.5 L de agua y 219 mL de vinagre blanco no diluido. Permita que el filtro permanezca dentro de esta solución durante 20 minutos.

4. Después de los 20 minutos, saque el filtro de la solución y enjuáguelo varias veces con agua limpia. Coloque el filtro PermaWick™ en un lugar donde se pueda ir secando poco a poco mientras usted limpia las otras piezas de su humidificador.

9. Quite la tapa del difusor de agua y la esponja. Enjuague la esponja en agua limpia para quitar cualquier desecho que haya quedado en ella. Si la esponja contiene residuos de agua dura, sumérjala en una mezcla de 3.5 L de agua y 219 mL de vinagre durante 20 minutos. Enjuague bien la esponja y vuélvala a instalar junto con la tapa del difusor en la unidad. No expon-

ga el motor ni otros componentes eléctricos al agua.

10. Limpie todas las superficies de la cubierta principal con un paño suave.

11. Una vez que todas las piezas estén limpias, vuelva a armar el humidificador y siga las instrucciones de la sección FORMA DE USAR SU HUMIDIFICADOR para continuar el uso de la unidad. Si planea guar-

dar el humidificador, asegúrese de que las piezas estén completamente secas, vuelva a armar el humidificador y guárdelo en un lugar seco.

Funktionen des Luftbefeuchters

Leuchtanzeige (einige Modelle): Diese Anzeige leuchtet auf wenn das Gerät/der Strom an ist.

Ventilator-/Geschwindigkeitskontrolle: Zum ‘AN’ und ‘AUS’-stellen des Luftbefeuchters. Das Gerät ist ausgestellt wenn auf 0; niedrig auf I; mittel auf II; hoch auf III. Vor dem Herausziehen des Steckers, dem Bewegen oder dem Nachfüllen des Wassertanks das Gerät immer ausstellen.

NiteGlo™ Nachtanzeige (einige Modelle): Stellt die Nachtanzeige ‘AN’ und ‘AUS’. Die Nachtanzeige kann auch bei ausgestelltem Lufbefeucher angestellt werden.

Benutzung des Luftbefeuchters

1. Entfernen Sie die Verpackung des Care Free Raumbefeuchter Plus Verdunstungsbefeuchter. Lesen Sie die Betriebsanleitung und bewahren Sie sie gut auf.

2. Stellen Sie diesen Luftbefeuchter auf eine feste, ebene und wasserfeste Oberfläche. Bedienen Sie dieses Gerät immer mit einem Mindestabstand von 16 cm zu Wänden und Hitzequellen.

3. Heben Sie das Hauptgehäuse hoch und vergewissern Sie sich, dass das PermaWick™ Filtersystem aufrecht in den Schlitzen steckt. Schliessen Sie das Hauptgehäuse wieder. (Siehe Abbildung 1.)

4. Entnehmen Sie den Wassertank und füllen Sie ihn im Waschbecken oder der Badewanne auf.

5. Drehen Sie den Wassertank herum und drehen Sie die Verschlusskappe gegen den Uhrzeigersinn los. Füllen Sie den Tank mit kaltem Wasser auf und drehen Sie die Verschlusskappe wieder zu (niemals heisses Wasser benutzen). Gehen Sie sicher, dass Sie den Tank nicht überfüllen da Möbel oder Fussböden durch das Verlaufen von Wasser beschädigt werden können.

6. Tragen Sie den Tank zurück zum Luftbefeuchter. Drehen Sie den Tank aufrecht und setzen Sie ihn in den Luftbefeuchter ein. Der Tank muss sicher auf der Basis des Luftbefeuchters sitzen. Ist der Tank sachgerecht eingesetzt, werden Sie Luftblasen im Tank hochsteigen sehen.

7. Stellen Sie das Gerät auf ‘AUS’ und schliessen Sie das Stromkabel an den Netzstecker. Das Gerät ist ausgestellt wenn auf 0; niedrig auf I; mittel auf II; hoch auf III.

VORSICHT: Wegen der Gefahr eines Stromschlags den Luftbefeuchter niemals mit nassen Händen an den Netzstecker anschließen.

8. Schalten Sie den Luftbefeuchter ein indem Sie ihn auf ‘AN’ stellen und eine Geschwindigkeitsstufe wählen.

9. Betätigen Sie den ‘AN’ und ‘AUS’-Schalter der Nachtanzeige. Die Nachtanzeige funktioniert auch wenn der Ventilator des Luftbefeuchters auf ‘AUS’ gestellt ist.

Auffüllen des Wassertanks

1. Bei niedrigem Wasserstand im Tank stellen Sie den Luftbefeuchter auf ‘AUS’ und ziehen Sie das Kabel aus dem Netzstecker.

2. Entnehmen Sie den Wassertank und füllen Sie ihn im Waschbecken oder der Badewanne auf.

3. Drehen Sie den Wassertank herum und drehen Sie die Verschlusskappe gegen den Uhrzeigersinn los. Entleeren Sie den Tank und füllen ihn mit frischem, kaltem Wasser auf (niemals heisses Wasser benutzen), und drehen Sie die Verschlusskappe wieder zu. Gehen Sie sicher, dass Sie den Tank

nicht überfüllen da Möbel oder Fussböden durch das Verlaufen von Wasser beschädigt werden können.

Reinigung des Luftbefeuchters und des Wassertanks

Viele Haushalte haben hartes Wasser mit hoher Mineralienkonzentration. Wenn Wasser aus dem Care Free Verdunstungsbefeuchter verdunstet, setzen sich Mineralienstoffe ab. Diese Mineralienstoffe können harten Wasserstein bilden, der wie nachfolgend beschrieben entfernt werden kann. Je nach Wasserqualität kann die Häufigkeit der benötigten Entfernung von Wasserstein variieren.

1. Stellen Sie den Luftbefeuchter auf ‘AUS’ und ziehen Sie das Kabel aus dem Netzstecker.

2. Entfernen Sie das Hauptgehäuse, das Wasserauffangbecken und das PermaWick™ Filtersystem. Der Motor ist am Hauptgehäuse

befestigt. Nicht in der Nähe von Wasser ablegen. Um einen elektrischen Schlag zu vermeiden, den Motor oder das Motorgehäuse nie mit einem nassen Handtuch reinigen.

3. Das PermaWick™ Filtersystem sollte zur Beseitigung von Mineralienrückständen mit einer Essig-Wasserlösung gereinigt werden. Legen Sie es in eine Mischung aus 3,5 L Wasser und 219 ml unvermischten, klaren Essig. Weichen Sie den Filter 20 Minuten darin ein.

4. Nach dem Einweichen spülen Sie das Filtersystem mehrmals mit klarem Wasser ab.

Raumbefeuchter Plus

Lassen Sie das PermaWick™ Filtersystem zum Abtropfen stehen während Sie weitere Teile Ihres Luftbefeuchters reinigen.

5. Entnehmen Sie den Wassertank aus der Basis und entleeren Sie ihn vollständig. Weichen Sie die Basis in einer Mischung aus 3,5 L Wasser und 219 ml Essig 20 Minuten lang ein.

6. Nach dem Einweichen, wischen Sie die Basis mit einem weichen Tuch oder einem Schwamm ab um jegliche Mineralienablagerungen zu entfernen. Anschliessend mehrmals mit klarem Wasser abspülen. Wird der Luftbefeuchter längere Zeit gelagert, lassen Sie die Basis vollständig trocknen.

7. Füllen Sie den Wassertank mit 3,5 l Wasser und 219 ml unvermischten, klaren Essig. Drehen Sie den Tankverschluss zu und schütteln Sie ihn kräftig bis die komplette Innenfläche des Tanks mit der Wasser-Essigmischung in Kontakt war.

8. Entleeren Sie die Wasser-Essigmischung. Mehrmals mit klarem Wasser ausspülen und den Tankverschluss wieder zudrehen. Wenn Sie den Luftbefeuchter für längere Zeit lagern möchten, lassen Sie ihn von innen und aussen bei offenem Verschluss vollständig trocknen. Reinigen Sie dann die anderen Teile des Luftbefeuchters.

9. Entfernen Sie den Wasserverschluss und den Schwamm. Spülen Sie den Schwamm
