NOTE: Read this sheet carefully before beginning installation.
• Do not use this equipment for other than the intended use as specified on equipment nameplate.
• Turn off the supplying circuit before beginning installations, or performing any maintenance including relamping.
• Do not install near gas or electric heaters.
• Do not attempt to service the battery. The emergency ballast contains a sealed, no maintenance battery. Contact
manufacturer for information on replacements.
• Batteries must be recycled or disposed of properly.
• Qualified service personnel must perform servicing.
• The emergency ballast is for use with linear lamps.
• Equipment should be mounted in locations and at heights where unauthorized personnel will not readily subject it to
tampering.
IMPORTANT: Before installing, check luminaire nameplate to be sure
you have the correct product. Refer to luminaire nameplate for specific
supply wire temperature rating
DIRECTION OF INSTALLATION:
1. Securely install Luminaire per IOM Form K1273.
2. Insert a tool into one of the slots in the clamping bar with the
end of the tool located into the outer flange of the body as a
fulcrum point. A wide blade screwdriver is recommended.
Gently lever the tool away from the diffuser. The clamping bar
will begin to open.
3. Carefully swing the diffuser down and allow it to be suspended
from the hinge latches.
4. Back out four screws, approximately 8 turns, slide reflector
plate over screws and gently lower plate until supported by
tray cables.
5. Pull the supply wires into housing through the conduit hub and
connect the appropriate ballast leads using the wire nuts.
Connect the ground wire to the terminals provided in the
ground plate, which is attached to the hub inside the housing.

with applicable national and/or local electrical

Warning: To prevent high voltage from being present on red
and yellow emergency ballast output leads prior to installation,
battery connector must be open. Do not join battery connector
until installation is complete and AC power is supplied to the
emergency ballast.
6. Reinstall the reflector plate, sliding it so that the keyway
slots are in secured position; then tighten the four
screws.
7. Install proper lamp securely, as noted in the nameplate.
8. Reinstall the diffuser by swinging it up slowly and
pushing the clamping bar back in place. It locks with the
housing
9. Maintain the proper alignment of diffuser and housing.
10. Turn ON the desired supplying circuit and test fixture.
NOTE: For push to test station installation use Killark
control Station number FXCS-5B2 (W/ push to test
nameplate) or equivalent. Refer to fig.1/Note for typical
wiring diagram for guidance.

OPERATIONAL DATA
This fixture is to be operated only at the voltage specified on the fixture nameplate, and only with lamps of the
specific type and wattage as shown on the nameplate
When AC power is applied, the charging indicator light is illuminated, indicating that the battery is being
charged. When power fails, the emergency ballast automatically provides at least 90 minutes (1.50 Hours) of
emergency illumination.

MAINTENANCE DATA
CAUTION: Turn OFF and lock out the supplying circuit before opening the fixture or the ballast chambers, or
performing any maintenance duties on the fixture.
As a routine maintenance, this emergency luminaire should be checked periodically to ensure proper
operation. The following schedule is recommended.
1. Visually inspect the charging indicator light monthly. It must be illuminated.
2. Test operation of the circuit at 30 day intervals for a minimum of 30 seconds. The lamp should operate.
3. Conduct a 90 minute discharge test once a year. The lamp should operate for 90 minutes minimum.

RELAMPING:
To re lamp this luminaire, follow Steps 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, and 10 under “Directions for Installation” on
the front of this sheet.
