Call forwarding
Cancel call forwarding
To turn off or cancel call forwarding that you have set up, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
2. Tap the Menu key.
3. Tap Settings.
4. Scroll to and tap Call forwarding.
5. Tap Always forward.
6. Tap Disable.
Forward all calls (unconditional)
Call Forwarding Unconditional (CFU) immediately forwards all calls to another phone number without allowing the device to ring.
To forward all calls, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
2. Tap the Menu key.
3. Tap Settings.
4. Scroll to and tap Call forwarding.
5. Tap Always forward.
6. If necessary, update the forwarding phone number.
Note: To select a phone number from a saved contact, tap the Contacts icon.
7. Tap Enable.
Forward some calls (conditional)
Call Forwarding Conditional (CFC) forwards incoming calls to another phone number if you do not or cannot answer them (no reply,
busy, unavailable).
To turn on conditional call forwarding which forwards some calls, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
2. Tap the Menu key.
3. Scroll to and tap Call forwarding.
4. Select one of the following options:
o Forward when busy
o Forward when unanswered
5. Enter a call forwarding number or edit the existing number if necessary.
6. Tap Enable.
Call log
o Forward when unreachable
Note: To select a phone number from contacts, tap the Contacts icon.
Reset call log
To reset or clear the call log or history, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
2. Tap the Menu key.
3. Tap Clear call log.
4. Tap OK to confirm.
View call log
Call logs may approximate the amount of time you have spent on phone calls, but they do not accurately show how much time TMobile bills.
To view call logs or history, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
2. Your call log displays at the top of the screen. Scroll down to view additional entries.
Touch tones (DTMF)
Turn on / off touch tones (DTMF)
Your device can send a number to the network as dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) tones. DTMF tones are used to communicate
with automated systems that require you to type a number such as a code, password, or credit card number.
Although your phone can use DTMF tones (touch tones), there is no setting to turn them on or off. We’re sorry, but changing DTMF
tones is not available on your device.
Contact management
Add contact
To add a new contact to the phone book, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the People icon.
2. If necessary, tap the Contacts tab in the middle.
3. Tap the Add contact icon.
4. Select an account to synchronize your new contact with.
5. Enter the contact's name.
6. Scroll down and tap the Phone field.
7. Enter the contact's phone number, then select the phone number type.
8. If necessary, enter additional contact information.
9. When finished, tap DONE.
Add contact to speed dial
We're sorry, but the speed dial feature is not available on this device.
Copy contact: import/export from SD card
To copy contacts between the device memory and SD card, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the People icon.
2. If necessary, tap the Contacts tab in the middle.
3. Tap the Menu key.
4. Tap Manage contacts.
5. Perform one of the following actions:
o Import contacts from SD card
1. Tap Import from storage.
2. If necessary, select the account to import to.
3. Select contacts to import.
Note: If necessary, tap Select all.
4. Tap OK.
o Export contacts from SD card
1. Tap Export to storage.
2. Tap OK.
Copy contact: import/export from SIM card
To copy contacts between the device memory and SIM card, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the People icon.
2. If necessary, tap the Contacts tab in the middle.
3. Tap the Menu key.
4. Tap Manage contacts.
5. Perform one of the following actions:
o Import contacts from SIM card
1. Tap Copy from SIM card.
2. Select the desired contacts, and then tap COPY.
Note: If necessary, tap SELECT ALL.
3. Select the account to copy to.
o Export contacts to SIM card
1. Tap Copy contacts.
2. If necessary, select the account to copy contacts from.
3. Select the desired contacts, and then tap COPY.
Note: If necessary, tap SELECT ALL.
4. Tap SIM.
Delete contact
To delete contacts from the phone book, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the People icon.
2. Navigate to the contact that you want to delete.
3. Touch and hold the contact until the option menu appears.
4. Tap Delete.
5. Tap OK.
Groups
Add contacts to a caller group
To add contacts to a caller group, follow these steps:
1. From the Home screen, tap the People icon.
2. If necessary, tap the Groups tab.
3. Select a group to add the contacts to.
4. Tap the Add contact icon.
5. Select the desired contact(s).
6. Tap ADD MEMBERS.
Create a caller group
To create a caller group, follow these steps:
1. From the Home screen, tap the People icon.
2. If necessary, tap the Groups tab.
3. Tap the Add group icon.
4. If necessary, select an account to add the group to.
5. Enter a name for the new group.
6. If desired, tap Add members.
7. When finished, tap DONE.
Email
Account
Add an email account manually
To set up an email account and manually enter the settings, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
2. Tap System settings.
3. Scroll to 'ACCOUNTS,' and then tap Add account.
4. Tap Email.
5. Enter your email address and password.
6. Tap Next.
7. Select a frequency option from the drop-down menu.
8. Select or clear the following settings:
o Make this your default account for sending email
o Notify me when email arrives
o Sync email from this account
o Automatically download attachments when connected to Wi-Fi
9. Tap Next.
10. If necessary, edit your display name and your account name.
11. Tap Next. Your email setup is complete.
Add a Gmail account
To set up a Google email account, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
2. Scroll to and tap Gmail.
3. Perform one of the following actions:
o Sign in to an existing Gmail account
1. Tap Existing.
2. Enter your email and password.
3. Tap Done.
4. Review the Terms of Services screen, and then tap OK.
5. Select or clear the backup option, and then tap the Next arrow.
Note: After synchronization is complete your Inbox will load.
o Create a new Gmail account
1. Tap New.
2. Enter your first name, then tap Next.
3. Enter your last name, then tap Done.
4. Enter the desired username, then tap Done.
5. Enter a password for the account, then tap Next.
6. Re-type the password, then tap Done.
7. Choose a security question from the drop-down menu.
8. Enter a security answer, then enter a recovery email address.
9. When finished, tap Done.
10. Select one of the following:
Join Google+
Not now
11. Follow the remaining on-screen prompts to complete new account setup.
Delete an email account
To delete an email account, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
2. Tap System settings.
3. Scroll to 'ACCOUNTS' and then tap Email.
4. Select the account you want to delete.
5. Tap the Menu key.
6. Tap Remove account.
7. Tap Remove account again.
Inbox
Incoming email notification
To turn on and turn off email notifications, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
2. Select one of the following applications:
o Gmail
1. Tap the Menu key.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Select an account to edit.
4. Select or clear the Notifications check box.
Note: To change the notification options, tap Sound & vibrate.
o Email
1. Tap the Menu key.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Select an account to edit.
4. Scroll down to 'NOTIFICATION SETTINGS.'
5. Select or clear the Email notifications check box.
Note: If desired, select or clear the Vibrate check box, and then tap Choose ringtone.
Message
Attach a file and send an email
To attach files to email messages, follow these steps:
Use the Gmail application
1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
2. Scroll to and tap Gmail.
3. Tap the New email icon.
4. At 'To,' enter the recipient's email address.
5. Tap the Subject field and enter a subject.
6. Tap the Compose email field and enter the email text.
7. Tap the Menu key.
8. Select one of the following:
o Attach picture
o Attach video
9. Navigate to and select the desired file.
10. When finished, tap the Send icon.
Use the Email application
1. From the main Home screen, tap the Email icon.
2. Tap the New email icon.
3. At 'To,' enter the recipient's email address.
4. Tap the Subject field and enter a subject.
5. Tap Attach icon.
6. Select the type of file you want to attach.
7. Navigate to and select the desired file.
8. If necessary, enter text for the email body.
9. When finished, tap the Send icon.
Delete emails

Delete picture messages (MMS)
To delete picture messages (MMS), follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Messaging icon.
2. Select the desired message thread.
3. Touch and hold the picture message you want to delete.
4. Tap Delete.
5. Tap Delete again to confirm.
Delete text messages (SMS)
To delete text messages (SMS), follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Messaging icon.
2. Select the desired message thread.
3. Touch and hold the text message you want to delete.
4. Tap Delete.
5. Tap Delete again to confirm.
Save pictures received in a message (MMS)
To save a picture you received as a picture message (MMS), follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Messaging icon.
2. Select the desired message thread.
3. Touch and hold the file you want to save.
4. Tap Save attachment.
Send messages
Send a group text message (SMS)
To write and send text messages (SMS) to a group, follow these steps:
Choose or enter multiple recipients
1. From any Home screen, tap the Messaging icon.
2. Tap the New message icon.
3. At 'To,' enter the recipient phone numbers, separated by commas.
Note: You can also tap the Contacts icon to select from saved contacts.
4. Tap the Type message field and enter the SMS text.
5. When finished, tap Send.
Send to a saved group
1. From any Home screen, tap the Messaging icon.
2. Tap the New message icon.
3. Tap the Contacts icon.
4. Tap the Groups tab.
5. Select the group you want to send a message to.
6. Tap ADD.
7. Tap the Type message field and enter the SMS text.
8. When finished, tap Send.
Send a new picture or video in a message (MMS)
To take a new picture or video and send it as a picture message (MMS), follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Messaging icon.
2. At 'To,' enter the recipient's phone number.
Note: You can also tap the Contacts icon to select from saved contacts.
3. Tap the Attach icon.
4. Perform one of the following options:
o Send a new picture
1. Tap Capture picture.
2. Frame the subject.
3. Tap the Shutter icon.
4. Tap OK to accept.
Note: You can tap Retake to capture the picture again.
o Send a new video
1. Tap Capture video.
2. Frame the subject.
3. Tap the Record icon to start recording.
4. Tap the blinking Record icon to end recording.
5. Tap OK to accept.
5. If necessary, tap the Type message field to enter MMS text.
6. When finished, tap Send MMS.
Send a saved picture or video in a message (MMS)
To send pictures or videos you have saved on your device as a picture message (MMS), follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Messaging icon.
2. Tap the New message icon.
3. At 'To,' enter the recipient's phone number.
Note: You can also tap the Contacts icon to select from saved contacts.
4. Tap the Attach icon.
5. Select one of the following:

6. Navigate to and select the desired file.
7. If necessary, tap the Type message field to enter MMS text.

Set custom sounds
Notifications
To change the notification sounds, follow these steps:
1. Transfer the sound file to the Music folder on your device.
2. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
3. Tap System settings.
4. If necessary, tap the General tab.
5. Tap Notification tone.
6. Select the type of notification to change.
7. Tap Local music.
8. Select the desired sound file, and then tap OK.
Ringtones
To change the ringtone, follow these steps:
Change ringtone for all calls
1. Transfer the sound file to the Music folder on your device.
2. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
3. Tap System settings.
4. If necessary tap the General tab.
5. Tap Phone ringtone.

7. Select the desired sound file, and then tap OK.
Change ringtone for calls from one contact
1. Transfer the sound file to the Music folder on your device.
2. From any Home screen, tap the People icon.
3. Navigate to and select the contact you want to set a ringtone for.
4. Tap the Edit icon.
5. Scroll down to and tap Add another field.
6. Tap Ringtone.
7. Tap Select from music.
8. Select the desired sound file, and then tap OK.
Transfer
Transfer music or sounds to use
Some devices require you to transfer music, sounds, or other audio files to the device in a certain way to be used as ringtones and
notifications. To transfer these files, follow these steps:
1. Connect the device to a computer using the USB cable.
2. From the Home screen, touch the Notification bar and slide down.
3. Tap Touch for other USB options.
4. Tap Media device (MTP).
5. On a PC computer when the AutoPlay window appears, click Open device to view files using Windows Explorer.
Note: If the window does not appear automatically, check that the USB cable is completely plugged in, or try another USB port.
6. Click OK.
7. In the Windows Explorer window that opens, double-click Internal system storage.
8. Double-click the Music folder.
9. Copy the music or sound files from your computer to the open Music folder.
10. When finished transferring files, on the phone tap USB storage device.
11. On the computer, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray.
12. Click Eject.
13. Disconnect the device from the computer.

Text to speech
Set up & turn on
The text-to-speech feature is set up and ready to use on your phone.
Settings
Text to speech reads messages out loud, allowing you to listen to text or messages instead of reading them. To change text to
speech settings, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
2. Tap System settings.
3. If necessary, tap the All tab.
4. Scroll to 'PERSONAL,' and tap Language & input.
5. Scroll to 'SPEECH,' and tap Text-to-speech output.
6. Tap the Settings icon.
7. Tap Language.
8. Select a language from the list.
9. Tap the Back key.
10. Tap Speech rate.
11. Select the rate at which you want the messages to be read.
12. If necessary, tap Listen to an example to hear a preview of your current settings.
Voice commands
Open an app
To open apps using voice commands, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
2. Scroll to and tap Voice Dialer.
3. Say Open + [application name].
Note: For example, say "Open calendar" to open the calendar application.
4. Tap the appropriate command or tap Cancel to retry.
Voice dial a contact
To use voice dialing to call a contact, follow these steps:
1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
2. Scroll to and tap Voice Dialer.
3. Say Call + [contact name].
Note: For example, say "Call John Smith" to dial a saved contact named John Smith.
4. Tap the appropriate command or tap Cancel to retry.
